The Uprising Hero

"You've got to be kidding me!?"

Those were the exact words coming out from Eric's mouth in disbelief. Right before him is the 'Grear Hero' who defeat and sealed the 'Demon Lord'…Legend himself. Starring at his calm image giving nothing but a smile, Eric felt at ease but he didn't take long on what circumstance he is in right now.

His mind was racing with questions. He can't handle the situation at hand. He was scared, confused and curious. Scared because it might be one Kevin pulling a stupid yet smart prank on him. Confused, due him appearing inside his room, maybe a ghost taking the face of him or not. Curiosity kills a cat, right? But this won't kill him only if he might be an enemy or an assassin. If he is actually Legend, the only curious questions he has in mind are… 

Arthur: Let me guess… "How is he not dead? How is he alive? Am I dreaming? Is it a prank? Just one question at a time okay…

What the hell!!!

Those were the questions in his minds right now. And he just said them. He saw the smirk on Arthur telling him what he capable of.

Eric: You could read minds?! *Surprised by the outcome*

Arthur: That's for me to know and you to find out. *smiles*

"This guy is fucking with me!!". Eric thought about it and it might be true. The look at Arthur says otherwise. He could gaze and tell what his opponent will think but all, he smiled towards Eric. He takes a look at Eric's wrist wearing a bracelet which explains everything… 

Arthur: And it seems you're wearing the bracelet I made centuries ago. *smiles* 

Eric looks at his wrist then looked at him again in realisation. "Wait… he made this?" Eric thought. He looked at Arthur demanding answers. Arthur understood his intensions so he simply replied…

Arthur: To answer your question, I sealed some of my 'KAI' into that bracelet so the moment you wore it, only you can see me…

Eric: So...…. Are you dead?...

Arthur: Actually…...

Immediately Arthur stared at him with a much serious look. The room became tensed suddenly. He stared at him with a piercing gaze enough to scare an ape predator. His heart was racing again thinking this might be the end of him.

Arthur: *Holds his chin* I don't know myself…

Eric: Ack!!! *Comedically hits the floor*

Arthur burst out of laughter seeing Eric's reaction to his answer. Eric stood up from the concrete floor rubbing his head. "Yep! He is fucking with me." Eric thought. He wasn't expecting that kind of answer. He stared at Arthur thinking, "Is this actually Legend?" until he got interrupted…

Arthur: Let's cast everything aside Eric because there is a situation at hand and… I need your help…

Eric: Help? Help in what?

Eric is confused at this moment. He could see the seriousness in Arthur expression. He sensed something was off and could turn out bad. Really bad. He didn't know what this feeling was. Is it the hero's intuition? He couldn't put a finger in it. And the only one thing left is for Arthur to answer why he need him, of all people needs his help.

Arthur: The main reason why I made this bracelet to elect someone to wield a huge responsibility for the upcoming events and finally the time has come. And I finally choose you Eric Valorheart

Eric: Responsibility? What the hell are you talking about?

Arthur: *Stares at him serious* The Demon Lord has awakened...

(Ellen P.O.V)

I am currently walking at the Halls of Valorheart holding a lantern lightening up my surroundings. God damn it, even thou the world is advanced but this Mansion isn't. We are using kindles and lanterns for crying out loud. We could be using light bulbs at the hall like the other kids but "father" said we should maintain it because our great ancestor Legend built this for some reasons.

I stopped staring at the pictures beside me. One was a handsome young man with blonde hair and crimson red irises. Yes, that's the 'Great Hero Legend'. The other pictures were the past events he acquired as a Hero. I passed by all of them and stopped to the current picture of Valorheart. It is a family picture taken by father.

Is the picture of him, mother, and lunatics-I mean my siblings. The only person missing was Eric…my little brother. How could they?!! It was supposed to be a family picture… A FAMILY PICTURE!! And what did they do?

They abandoned him. I tried to call out his name but I was immediately shut by father saying he is not fit to be part of the picture. That was the angriest day of my life. I let the train of thoughts go and bumped into the butler who took care of me as a child. What was his name again?

Butler (???): Ahh~ Young Mistress… I wasn't expecting you to around here this hour. Having nightmares, I presume?

Ellen: Nothing much. I couldn't sleep that's all. I taught taking a stroll before taking my sleep will be needed…

Butler (???): Then how about I accompany you too where-!?

Ellen: *Instantly replied with a cold expression* No need for that Oswald… [walks away]

So that's his name… Oswald. Why do I really have to keep on forgetting the names of care takers… Is not like I care or anything but still.

Anyways I had to be cold to them for what they've been doing too little brother. And obviously lie to him. The reason why I came out is because of Eric. I heard him yelling so I became worried for him. I might be a dick to him when we were kids but it was for the best.

For his sake I had to say what I shouldn't. I regretted what I said every single day but I had to be strong for him. Because I made a promise. And that promise I meant to keep it even if… "IT KILLS ME"

(Eric P.O.V)

Comeagainsaywha!?? What have I gotten myself into!! I'm freaking out right now! He can't be serious right? RIGHT!!?? The Demon FUCKING Lord has awakened and he expects me to help him? This is outrageous!!!

I tried my best to stay the fuck down but I can't okay. This news is shocking, more shocking than me not having 'Kai' and even, 10x worse than cracking an egg. Yeah… I can't crack an egg. Deal with it!!

Eric: So, you're telling me that you choose me to defeat Demon Lord? Nope! Not gonna happen!!

Arthur: Look I know you're freaking out but I totally get it. But the world needs you, Eric. If don't defeat the defeat the Demon Lord, no one can…

Eric: Is a mistake that I got chosen. I can't even hurt a fly for God's sake. I'm a mistake and I don't think I could do that!

I was frustrated and had to say what the fact was, a mistake that I am. I am not as talented as my older siblings, Ellen included. I am a worthless loser, and that's who I am.

Just then I felt a slight yet gentle touch on my shoulder. I turn and saw Arthur with a concern look on his face.

Arthur: It was never a mistake Eric and you're "NOT" …. a mistake. I have studied you ever since you came out from your mother. I watched you grow as a fine gentleman you are. A young man filled with ambition and a dream to be the Greatest Hero ever despite of not having 'Kai'. You trained your body, studied hard with the spirit in not giving up. That's why choose you… Eric Valorheart. Become my successor and I'll help you achieve your dreams and even surpass me in the future because…. 'I believe in you'…. *Smiles softly*

"He…. believes in me…."

My eyes widen in surprise. The words I wanted to hear ever since I was young. No one believed in anything I do. Even saying the truth was a problem. I became emotional right now and hugged him, letting out all of my tears out. He embraced me like a father almost as if I need them the most. I actually needed the hug. I really do…

I cried… and cried… and cried… for a while. With a sort of mixed emotions buried within me from the past years. He hugged me tighter and gentler than before. I let go all of my emotions in tears and sorrows remembering what I went through as a kid…

I let go from his embrace clearing my tears away. I looked at him as he waits for my decision. A huge step of my life is about to make. This might be faith. Maybe, this is what I was looking for… 'a second chance'. The moment I answered, it determined the risk and a huge responsibility I placed upon myself.

Eric: I…. I'll take this huge responsibility and accept my faith with the task given unto me as your successor. I will protect this world from the hands of the Demon Lord till life, till death. And become The Greatest Hero this world has ever seen!

That said, I felt a huge weight on my shoulders. I can't turn my back now. The oath I made right now was something I had to do. Is like it was the right thing to do… I think…

Arthur: That was…. Inspirational *Smiles proudly*

Eric: *Scratched his head* You think so… [smiles]

Before he could alter a word, his attention swiftly turned to a certain direction of the room leaving himself wide open to me. He had a serious expression again. Does he have mood swings or something? 

Arthur: Well since you've decided… *turned towards my direction* Let's get going then…
