Chapter 108
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 108: Anger
After finishing our reconnaissance of the location where the Hydra is sealed, we entered through the southern district gate and headed toward Shuvina’s house.
“Hey, look! Your prince is back,” Fiera teased.
“Mm. He’s showing up again today,” Shuvina replied.
“Ugh. You two, please don’t tease me like that. I’ll be right back,” she said, looking more exhausted than when she left for reconnaissance. She approached Ryan, who was waiting with a bouquet in hand.
“Still, he must really like you, Shuvina,” Fiera noted.
“Mm. He’s been coming every day since that day,” Shuvina sighed.
Just as Fiera said, ever since Ryan proposed to Shuvina, he hadn’t missed a single day bringing her flowers.
While Shuvina initially seemed hesitant but accepted the bouquets and talked to him, it appeared the daily visits were becoming tiresome for her, and she often displayed fatigue in front of Fiera and me.
“If you don’t like it, you should just firmly reject him,” I suggested.
“She tried, but apparently, he wouldn’t listen. He said there’s no rush to answer,” Fiera explained.
“Ugh, what a bothersome type he is,” I grumbled.
It seemed Ryan had quite the annoying personality, and hearing about this made me feel a bit sorry for Shuvina.
“Oh, he’s staring at El again,” Fiera pointed out.
“Some things never change, huh?”
Unclear about what Shuvina had said to him, Ryan glared at me after being rejected again and stormed off toward the castle, clearly angry.
“Good luck,” I called out.
“Fiera, thanks. Ugh, why does he keep coming every day?” Shuvina sighed.
“Maybe because he likes you?” Fiera replied casually.
“But I’ve been trying to reject him repeatedly! He never listens…”
“You’ll just have to endure it until we leave this country. Or do you want to… kill him?”
“…I’ll endure it.”
“Just for a second you considered it, didn’t you?”
“……”
Perhaps the stress from Ryan’s advances was really getting to her, as she appeared lost in thought at Fiera’s suggestion.
“Let’s head back inside for now. I need to inform Cecil about the reconnaissance,” I said.
“Got it.”
“Yes,” she replied.
As we entered the house with a weary Shuvina, Cecil welcomed us while preparing dinner.
“Welcome back, all three of you. But why does Shuvina look so tired?” she asked.
“Just the usual,” Shuvina replied.
“Oh, he came again today, huh? Dinner will be ready soon, so please take a seat and wait,” Cecil chuckled, heading back to the kitchen.
Once we took off our robes and sat on chairs, we chatted while waiting for Cecil to bring over the food. Shuvina, bringing up her earlier conversation with Ryan, looked a bit tired as she spoke to me.
“Eir, it seems Ryan wants to see you.”
“Huh? For what?”
“No clue, but based on his demeanor…”
“A duel.”
Hearing Fiera say that made me stand up immediately, heading back to my room.
But just as I reached for the door, Shuvina hurriedly grabbed my hand, her expression frantic.
“W-where are you going?”
“Home.”
“Home? You’re home already! Besides, dinner will be ready soon!”
“No, I’m leaving this country. Why would I bother with that idiot?”
I didn’t know how Ryan misinterpreted my relationship with Shuvina, but it was just an annoyance for me. Plus, with the possibility of this country falling apart, it was ridiculous for a prince to be wrapped up in romance.
It was beyond absurd; I wanted this country to perish already.
“Well then, what about the Hydra? If you don’t fight, we can’t win against it!”
“Who knows? If I feel like it, I’ll fight. I remember the sealing location, so even if I’m gone, I could handle it anytime.”
I tried to shake off Shuvina’s grip, but she wouldn’t let go, holding on tight.
“Wait! Please! Don’t abandon this country!”
“Let go. I didn’t say I was abandoning it. I said I might fight if I feel like it.”
“But if the Hydra revives while you’re gone, this country will perish right away! The demon race might attack the seal anytime! I want you to stay!”
Shuvina begged desperately, tears welling in her eyes, spilling silently down her cheeks.
“El. Just this once, let’s let it go. If he challenges you to a duel, I’ll take care of it again,” Fiera said, oddly standing by Shuvina, her gaze steady.
“Tch… I guess I can’t help it. Just this time.”
“Thank you!”
When I told them I would stay, Shuvina’s face lit up as she hugged Fiera.
“Thanks, Fiera! You’re the best!”
“Mm. No need to worry about it.”
(Ugh… I really hope the demon race revives the Hydra soon. I want to leave this lousy country quickly.)
I watched Shuvina and the others celebrate, feeling secretly wishful for the demon race to grant my unachievable desire.
Later, while we ate the food Cecil made, we shared the intelligence we gathered during reconnaissance with her, asking her to report to Kaylee tomorrow, before heading to our rooms for an early rest.
Four days later, around noon, I woke up and frowned at the commotion outside.
“What’s with all this noise?”
Slowly getting out of bed, I peeked out of the window as sunlight streamed in.
“What the hell is that…?”
Outside, a crowd of elves had gathered for some reason, with Ryan, all geared up, standing in the center.
“Ugh. This is such a hassle. I’m going back to sleep.”
Feeling an unavoidable sense of trouble, I attempted to ignore what I saw and return to bed, but before I could, Shuvina rushed into the room.
“E-Eir. I’m sorry for barging in! But Ryan wants to see you…”
“Tell him I’m not here.”
I said, climbing back under the covers, but Shuvina, looking sheepish, began to explain the current situation.
“Well, apparently, Ryan informed everyone in the eastern district in advance that he wants to duel you.
So now everyone knows you’re here, and Ryan said he won’t leave until you show up.”
“Ugh. That’s something he did on his own. It’s got nothing to do with me. But why has it suddenly turned into this?”
I was confused about why Ryan would act so brazenly, so I asked her for the reason.
Shuvina, appearing guilty, began to explain how it all came to be.
“I think it’s probably because I wrote a letter to Ryan yesterday.
I didn’t want to trouble you, so I asked him not to involve himself or to duel you in the letter. And then….”
“So that’s how we ended up here.”
“I’m sorry…”
It seemed she genuinely thought she was doing the right thing, but it had backfired spectacularly.
“Ugh. Whatever. Do I just need to go outside?”
“Y-yes.”
“Fine.”
I pushed Shuvina out of the room, changed into some random clothes, and headed downstairs to the garden with her.
“Good morning.”
“Ah.”
There, Fiera was already dressed and warming up, clearly ready to take on Ryan as she had promised before.
“Oh! Look! That human seems to be the rival trying to steal Shuvina from Ryan-sama!”
“That human is quite handsome too. Shuvina is cute, so it’s no wonder he’s popular.”
The elves around us began to stir more at my appearance, but a phrase I overheard made me blurt out my thoughts.
“A rival trying to steal Shuvina?”
“Indeed! You’re the rival trying to take Shuvina from me! But I won’t lose! Shuvina is mine!”
Ryan shouted, striking a pose as if he were a heroic protagonist from a story.
In unison, the surrounding elves began to cheer, steadily closing in on us as if it were a festival, blocking our escape route.
“El, just watch. I promised I would…”
“Leave it.”
“…Huh?”
“I’ll handle it. Fiera, stay with Shuvina.”
I said, stepping in front of Ryan, ready to face him.
“Hmph. I thought you’d back out and let that beastman fight for you, but it seems you’re ready to fight.”
“…I’ll kill you.”
“What? I’ll at least hear your last words. Speak up.”
“I’ll kill you… I swear I will.”
Seeing my fury reaching its peak after a long while, Ryan’s earlier bravado faded, and the surrounding elves fell silent in fear of my overwhelming aura.
Even Fiera and the others, usually stalwart, trembled slightly.
“You won’t die easily. You’ll suffer and die regretting the moment you were born. What’s more, in the end, you’ll be fortunate to find peace in death. But until then, it’s nothing but torment.”
By the time this battle ends, Ryan will regret challenging Luis to a duel and will begin his descent into ruin.
