Chapter 140
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 133: Lunchtime
When Iris sat down at her desk, the teachers entered the classroom shortly after.
“Nice to meet you all. Thank you for taking the entrance exam for Suzette Imperial Academy. Without further ado, let me explain the guidelines for the written exam.”
The elderly male teacher, standing at the podium, said this while using magic to levitate chalk to write down the guidelines.
“The exam duration is two hours, and no early exits are permitted. Even if you finish early, please remain seated.”
“Furthermore, this classroom is sealed with magic to prevent any cheating. Those with magical tool-type watches will be unable to use them, so please check the clock at the front to keep track of time. If any cheating is detected during the exam, you will fail immediately and be barred from taking other exams.”
“Lastly, if you start to feel unwell or dizzy during the exam, please raise your hand immediately. We teachers will come to assist you. Are there any questions about what we’ve covered so far?… No? Then we will distribute the question sheets followed by the answer sheets. Please do not move from your seats.”
Once the teacher finished explaining, the other two nearby used magic to distribute the question and answer sheets to each desk, making sure everyone received them.
“Now we will start the exam. I hope each of you can give your best effort. Begin!”
With the teacher’s starting words as a signal, everyone, including me, picked up our pens and began solving the problems.
(Sigh. It’s always the same old questions; it’s so boring.)
Looking around, I saw familiar faces moving their pens confidently or making pained expressions while struggling with questions, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
(Let’s just get this over with.)
I refocused on the questions, which I had solved countless times, and answered them with just enough accuracy to avoid getting a perfect score. After about 20 minutes, I fell asleep at my desk.
“That’s enough. Everyone, please put down your pens.”
Awakened by the teacher’s voice, I sat up as others placed their pens down.
“I will now collect the question and answer sheets.”
The papers floated up into the air, gathering on the desk at the front, and once they were all collected, the teacher checked the surroundings.
“Thus ends the written exam. We will now take a one-hour break, after which everyone in this classroom will proceed to the practical exam.”
“The location will be the training grounds, so please do not be late in getting there. If you are unsure of the location, please check with a nearby teacher. Now, we will take our leave.”
With that final remark, the three teachers exited the classroom, and various voices of resignation, joy, and relieved sighs echoed around.
“Lord Lewis, thank you for your hard work.”
“Hm? Oh, thanks.”
While waiting for Fiera and the others to join me, Iris, who was also in the same classroom, spoke up again.
“How did the exam go for you?”
“It wasn’t that difficult, I guess.”
“As expected! I had a few spots in magical theory that I wasn’t sure about, so I’m a bit worried.”
“Is that so?”
“Oh, what are your plans after this? Where will you be having lunch?”
“Well, that’s…”
“Sorry to keep you waiting. El!”
As I was about to answer Iris, Fiera and the others walked into the classroom.
“Fiera?”
“Yeah. Iris. Long time no see.”
“It’s been a while! What brings you here?”
“To have lunch with El.”
Fiera and Iris faced each other, beginning a conversation as if they’d forgotten I was there.
“I see. But that’s a problem. I was also planning to invite Lord Lewis for lunch.”
“Sorry, but we already have prior arrangements.”
“Hmm. Then, would it be alright if I join you? I’d like to chat with everyone else too.”
Iris said this while glancing at the girl next to Shuvina, who I had been curious about for a while.
“Alright. Is that okay with you, Shuvina?”
“I don’t mind.”
“Yes, I’m fine with it.”
“What about you, El?”
“What happens if I refuse?”
“Nothing really. In that case, you’ll just have to choose one of us.”
(Whichever I choose, it sounds like hell.)
If I chose one, I could only imagine the other would have some demands later. With a sigh, I gave up.
“Let’s do it together, then. Besides, I have something to ask too.”
I said this while looking at the girl next to Shuvina. She smiled for some reason, looking quite happy.
“Got it. Then let’s head to the cafeteria.”
“Understood.”
With Fiera’s suggestion to go to the cafeteria settled, Iris also agreed, and we began moving. However, as we left the classroom, I strangely felt a gaze coming from the direction of the Saintess.
We arrived at the cafeteria, where we found an empty table and began our preparations to eat lunch. However, with four beautiful girls and one guy at the table, the stares from around us were intense.
“Lord Lewis, what will you be eating? I hear there’s a variety of food available here; if you like, I can help you with that?”
“No need for that. I already have food.”
While Iris was asking what I would eat, Fiera began pulling dish after dish from her magic bag, filling the table.
“Is that… a magic bag?”
“Yep. I got it as a gift.”
“Wait, you mean Lord Lewis actually?”
When asked that by Iris, Fiera couldn’t help but show a slightly proud expression while puffing up her chest.
“Ugh, I can’t believe it…”
“No, originally it was given to me by the guild master of the Adventurers’ Guild. I don’t need it now, so I just handed it to Fiera.”
“Oh, I see…”
Though I explained this to Iris, who seemed strangely disappointed, she still kept her gaze on Fiera, looking a bit miffed.
“But that doesn’t matter. What I’m curious about is you. Why are you here, Sonia?”
“Oh, finally! My turn to talk.”
In the midst of this atmosphere, the girl I thought wouldn’t be here, was trying to eat together with Shuvina, acting as if it was totally normal.
The girl I thought I wouldn’t see again after parting ways in the Magic Kingdom.
With her wavy hair changing from purple to red at the tips and ruby-like, beautiful red eyes.
She had become even more alluring since we last met, and without a doubt, she was the Sonia Scarlet I knew.
“Long time no see, Eir. Or is it really Lewis now?”
“Did Fiera and the others tell you? Just call me Lewis while we’re at the academy.”
“Got it, Lewis. So, why am I here? Well, it’s because I followed you guys to take the entrance exam at this academy.”
“Huh? You followed us?”
“Yep. All of you.”
Sonia said this while resting her chin on her hand with a smile, her demeanor much more poised than Fiera’s.
“How did you find us? I never told you where we were going or where we’re from.”
“Fufu. Don’t be so wary! I just used birds to gather information.”
“No way…”
“Yep, it’s dark magic. I worked hard on it.”
Dark magic includes summoning magic that can control monsters and animals, and in the past, I had used this magic to try to destroy the Empire.
The most notable feature of that magic is that the summoned creatures can relay information they see and hear to the summoner regardless of distance, making it perfect for gathering intel.
However, there are drawbacks, such as not being able to control creatures with greater magic power than oneself, or needing more magic than one’s size to control larger creatures.
“While it’s true that you didn’t tell me where your next destination was or where you’re from, it was easy to find you based on your distinct looks and speech. Your way of speaking had a slight imperial accent, and there aren’t many with silver hair and golden eyes.
Plus, I could tell just from your gestures that you’re a noble. Once I figured that out, all I had to do was have the birds gather information about nobles fitting that description in the Empire. Pretty simple, right, Lewis Valentine?”
The moment Sonia said this with a grin, a chilling fear washed over me, sending shivers down my spine.
(This girl is dangerous…)
I had already thought that Fiera and Shuvina were heavily dependent on me, but Sonia’s emotions radiated a level of danger that was on par with theirs, and I immediately regretted coming to this place.
However, this lunch gathering had only just begun, and my mind would soon be drained by yet another round of these girls challenging my sanity.
