The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Episode 140: Fairy

After the entrance ceremony, we moved to Class S, where we would be spending our time.

“The academy is really spacious, huh? I feel like I might get lost,” Shuvina said.

As she pointed out, the academy was indeed quite large, and every year there were new students who ended up getting lost.

“If you get lost, just touch the wall and say you’re lost,” Lewis suggested.

“…Lewis, are you mocking me? Doing that won’t solve anything.”

“No, I’m serious, you know…”

Saying that, I slipped out of the line of students heading to the classroom and took a different path, touching the wall.

(I’m lost.)

“Are you lost? Where shall I guide you?”

As I muttered that I was lost in my mind, a little girl about the size of my palm, wearing glasses, appeared before me. She adjusted her glasses and flew up to my eye level with her tiny wings.

“How cute!”

“Could it be… a spirit?”

“No, this is a fairy that resides in the academy.”

“A fairy?”

Unlike spirits born from nature, fairies are beings that originate from legends.

For example, the spirit Dōna commands plants and was born from a tree that has absorbed a lot of magic power over a long time. In contrast, fairies come from human legends; for instance, the fairy before me was born from the legend that a fairy will help you if you get lost within the academy.

“So, that means spirits and fairies are born differently. But if legends disappear, fairies will…”

“…vanish. If the legends disappear, fairies can’t exist either.”

“How sad…”

Fiera, seemingly taken with the fairy girl, gently stroked her in her palm and spoke a bit sadly.

“It can’t be helped. That’s our fate as fairies. But even if I disappear someday, new children born from legends will come to help you. So, why did you summon me this time?”

“It’s just a greeting this time. I think I’ll probably depend on the elf here, so please help out when that time comes.”

“Understood. I’ll be looking forward to meeting you again!”

After the fairy gave a small bow and vanished, Fiera looked a bit disappointed, but we couldn’t linger here forever, so we quickly returned to our line heading towards the class.

When we entered Class S, the other students were already seated, and we took seats in the back.

“How many are there?”

Fiera scanned the classroom and asked me, curious about the number.

“There are 20 in Class S. Class A has 30, and Classes B through D have 40 each.”

By the way, the protagonist is in Class B. He’s quite skilled in swordsmanship but terrible at written work, so he’s in a different class from me initially.

(Well, he’ll probably move up to Class S once he’s chosen by the holy sword.)

While I wanted to feel relieved that I wouldn’t be interacting with the protagonist, unfortunately, there were several times when we would cross paths, making me want to drop out almost immediately.

“Everybody~! Good morning~!”

As I thought about the protagonist, a lively woman with orange hair that cascaded to her shoulders burst through the door into the classroom.

“Ah, new students are so fresh and cute! I’m Lime Riel, the teacher in charge of this class! You can call me Lime or Riel, whichever you prefer!”

Lime Riel. At just 24 years old, she is a top-tier magician, second only to Semari in the academy. After graduating, she was even scouted directly by the court magicians, making her a genius in magic.

However, at the same time, she’s also a bit of a weirdo who turned down the invitation from the court magicians whom all magicians admire, opting instead to teach at the academy.

“Everyone seems a bit tense, huh? I get that feeling! I was the same way when I just enrolled. Now then! Let’s start with self-introductions! You, in the front row, go ahead!”

Lime said this as she casually pointed to the boy in the front, and the self-introductions began in turn.

“Next up is Iris-chan!”

“Do you know about me?”

“Of course! You had excellent grades! Semari-sensei talked about you a lot! Also, you gave the representative greeting, right?”

“Thank you. Allow me to introduce myself again. I am Iris Pestelrose. My specialty is water magic. Nice to meet you.”

As Iris stood up to introduce herself, the nearby boys were mesmerized by her beauty, some even sending heated gazes her way.

“Clap clap clap~. Your voice is beautiful too! That’s unfair! Next, you there!”

“I’m Ride Holstein. I’m from the House of Holstein. I’m not great at magic, but I take pride in my swordsmanship. I intend to come first in this class. Nice to meet you.”

The next one to introduce himself was Ride Holstein, the son of another duke. He had striking red hair and piercing red eyes that seemed to burn everything in their sight, standing about 190cm tall and built impressively.

He was very serious and strict with himself and others.

Because of that personality, he quickly became friends with the protagonist when he joined the class, and yet he was someone I couldn’t really get along with.

“So, you’re the son of the Holstein duke, huh? I heard you really put the teachers through their paces during the exam. That’s impressive! Keep it up!”

After that, the self-introductions proceeded smoothly. After a while, once Sephiria and Sonia finished their greetings, it was finally our turn.

“Okay, finally, you three! Go in order!”

“Then I’ll start. I’m Shuvina. My specialties are spirit magic and wind magic. Nice to meet you!”

“Wow~. That was pretty straightforward. But I’m also interested in spirit magic, so show me sometime! Next!”

“Um. I’m Fiera. Beastman. I’m not good at magic, but I excel at close combat.”

As Shuvina and Fiera introduced themselves, not only the boys but also the girls were captivated by their beauty, gasping in awe.

“Wow~. That was even shorter! It’s like, ‘just the bare minimum,’ huh? But I heard from the teacher that you’re strong! Keep it up from here on out! Now, lastly! You with the silver hair! I’m expecting a good wrap-up!”

Somehow, I ended up being tasked with the final wrap-up. I stood up slowly as various gazes were directed my way.

Curiosity, jealousy, some enchanted looks, and hostile glares; I ignored all of it and opened my mouth.

“I’m Lewis Valentine. Nice to meet you.”

“………”

I wrapped it up shortly and took my seat, leaving the classroom in silence, even Lime appeared a bit bewildered.

“Ah, haha. You’re interesting too! Ummm, I think we’re done with self-introductions… right? Yeah! Let’s say we’re done with that! Now, I’ll explain what happens next!”

Lime quickly regained her composure and began writing on the blackboard about what would happen next.

“First, tomorrow you’ll decide what classes you will take in the first semester. Classes in Class S are basically free, but the academy has set mandatory classes, so you must take those.

You can choose other classes you want to take or not take any if you’re not interested!

But that means the semester exams will be tougher than those for other classes, so you’ll have to work hard.

On the third day, we’ll hold a ranking battle within the class. This rank significantly impacts your grades, and if your rank is low, you could drop to Class A, so be careful.”

In Class S, outside of mandatory subjects, it’s basically free whether you attend classes. In extreme cases, you could skip all non-mandatory classes without issue.

However, due to the privileges of Class S, there’s always a demand for skills and achievements. If you spend time not attending classes doing research or working as adventurers, you’ll have to report your achievements at the end of the semester.

If you don’t have any achievements, you’ll drop to Class A, and in turn, a student from Class A will rise to Class S.

The class rankings are determined mainly by combat skills in magic and martial arts, as well as rankings for support in enchantments and healing.

This is the same for other classes, and depending on grades, students with low ranks may switch places with those in lower classes who have higher ranks.

The most significant role of these rankings is the rank competition.

The rank competition involves lower-ranked students challenging higher-ranked ones, and if they win the match, they can take the other’s rank.

This is a unique rule established by the Suzette Imperial Academy to foster competitiveness and ambition among students, and because of this rule, they’ve nurtured many excellent individuals over time.

“Oh, and there will be a martial arts tournament at the end of the first semester, and in the second semester, there will also be dungeon practices! So everyone, look forward to it!

Alright, that’s all for today’s explanation! I’ll discuss the details again tomorrow, so let’s call it a day! You’ll probably want to start unpacking when you get back to the dorm, so do your best! Bye-bye!!”

With that, Lime cheerfully left the classroom, and the other students wrapped up and headed back to the dorms.

“El. What should we do?”

“Let’s head back too. There’s no point in staying here.”

“Got it.”

As we were quickly packing up to leave the classroom, I noticed three people looking at us with a slight hint of disappointment, but I ignored their gazes and headed towards the dorm where Miria was waiting, taking Fiera with me as we left the classroom.
