Chapter 343
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 326: Dōna’s Support
“Fiera, you go right!”
“Got it!”
“Iris and Sonia, take down the monsters coming from above with your magic!”
“Understood!”
“I’ll shoot them all down!”
“Miria and Shuvina, use wind magic to collect the magic stones!”
“Yes, yes. Just another chore!”
“Roger that!”
“What about Dōna?”
“Dōna, we need your support!”
“Okay! Go for it, everyone!!”
Forty minutes after parting ways with Olga and the others, we finally reached the end wall, but we were attacked by multiple monsters and had to deal with them.
From the ground, an A Rank monster, the Flame Wolf, was burning with flames.
From above, another A Rank monster, the Flame Bird, which I had previously eliminated using spatial manipulation.
However, no matter how strong they were in numbers, they were no match for us; the swarm of Flame Wolves on the ground was disposed of with the martial arts imbued with fighting spirit from me and Fiera, while the squad of Flame Birds above was shot down one after another by Sonia and Iris’s magic.
Once the magic stones were collected completely by Miria and Shuvina’s wind magic, the swarm of monsters vanished from our sight in just a few minutes.
“Good job, everyone! How was Dōna’s support??”
“It was appreciated!”
“Yeah. It was cute.”
“Yay!!”
Dōna, who we asked for support, was holding round things made of leaves in both hands and dancing and twirling around, cheering us on.
Fiera, who was fighting while watching Dōna, seemed to like her dance, as she was now watching Dōna dance while holding her in her hands.
“Still, this dungeon is way tougher than I thought. Seeing multiple A Rank monsters attack us isn’t something you usually see in an ordinary dungeon.”
“Right? I can’t tell if that’s the norm for gate-type dungeons or just a feature of this one, but it’s definitely not a place for an ordinary party to tackle.”
Since it was my first time entering a gate-type dungeon, I couldn’t say for sure, but considering the A Rank monsters attacking in droves and the dungeon’s expansive layout, it might be a place that requires a larger clan or collaboration from multiple clans to explore.
“For now, we’ve figured out there’s a wall here and that the monsters appearing are all fire-type as per this location. The only thing left to check is if there are traps…”
“Hmm. So far, there haven’t been any traps on our way here.”
“Yeah. We can’t let our guard down yet, but for now, it seems like we can safely assume there are no traps here.”
After that, we moved clockwise along the wall, relentlessly dispatching any monsters that came our way as we continued our exploration.
“Stop. Let’s take a break for a moment.”
A few hours later.
Having completed about seventy percent of our dungeon exploration, we built a wall with ice magic to take a breather and reassessed what we had encountered so far.
“Still no traps on our way here. Just as I expected, it seems that combat with high-rank monsters is more significant than trap attacks in this dungeon.”
“That’s true. But we don’t know what will happen in the next layer, so I think it’s too early to make a definitive judgment.”
“I agree. But at the very least, it looks like we can assume there are no traps in this layer.”
As Shuvina said, it’s not uncommon for the dungeon’s specifications to change with layers, so it would be premature to conclude anything, but at least there were no trap responses in this layer.
“However, the real problem lies with the monsters. I tried to manipulate things so that they wouldn’t gather towards Olga’s group by releasing killing intent from the second half, but there are just too many high-rank monsters.”
“That’s right. We should have Olga properly report this to the guild. Then, other adventurers can tackle it with a large clan.”
“Agreed. Well, those kinds of judgments should be made by the guild and individuals within the adventurers; for now, we just need to look for the stairs leading to the next layer.”
As mentioned earlier, we had already completed about seventy percent of the dungeon exploration, but we still hadn’t found the stairs leading to the next layer, and we were merely eliminating the monsters appearing here.
“Maybe the stairs are inside where Olga and the others are. Or perhaps they’re somewhere within the remaining thirty percent.”
“Miria makes a good point. I said we should investigate seventy percent, but to put it another way, there’s still thirty percent left. There’s a possibility that the stairs to the next layer could be there.”
However, based on my gut feeling, I had the impression that even if we explored the remaining thirty percent, we wouldn’t find the stairs to the next layer.
Of course, since it was just a gut feeling, it might be wrong, but I would know for sure if I explored the remaining thirty percent.
“Then, are we sticking to the plan and investigating the remaining thirty percent?”
“Yeah. It’s essential to consider various possibilities, but it’s equally important to eliminate possibilities that can be ruled out right from the get-go. First, let’s explore everything and think about the necessary details after that.”
“Understood.”
Sometimes you need the boldness to stop what you’re doing and tackle something else, but on the flip side, it’s also just as important to handle immediate tasks properly.
So for this time, we’ll first explore the remaining thirty percent, and if we find nothing, we’ll think about our next steps.
That way, we can acquire more reliable results.
“By the way, I wonder if Olga and the others are doing okay?”
“So far, there’s been no problem with their reactions. They’re moving along as planned since we parted, although it might be a good idea to adjust our plans a bit.”
“A plan adjustment?”
“Yeah. Originally, we were supposed to meet back up in the cave around the end of the day, but since we’ve been progressing faster than expected, let’s regroup with Olga after we finish exploring this layer.”
“I see. If Eir knows Olga’s location, then that would be more efficient. I agree with that plan.”
“I’m okay with that too.”
“I have no objections.”
“I’ll leave it to Eir.”
“Hmm. I’ll follow El.”
“Dōna will also follow Eir!!”
“Then it’s settled. Let’s wrap up the remaining exploration quickly and regroup with Olga.”
And so, we decided to change our plans, and afterward, our exploration progressed smoothly, finishing off the remaining thirty percent in no time.
However, as I suspected, my gut feeling turned out to be correct; despite investigating the remaining thirty percent, we didn’t find the stairs leading to the next layer. In the end, we returned to Olga and the others with hardly any achievements.
By the way, on the way there, Sonia asked me if I could use detection-type magic to examine everything in this layer without moving, but I didn’t answer her question.
The reason was that I could do it if I wanted to, but I hadn’t taken that approach because it wouldn’t be fun. If I answered honestly, Sonia would definitely blame me for it.
Well, even if I ignored her, it seemed she already figured out that I was trying to hide something, but without giving a clear answer, it would just be an accusation or a possibility, so I could wriggle out of it.
So, surely, ignoring Sonia’s glaring eyes wouldn’t be an issue at all.
