Chapter 370
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 353: Story
“For now, if you plan to keep living, we need to do something about your body first.”
I said this and unleashed black magic power instead of my usual silvery magic, enveloping Lavienne in my power.
A few seconds later, when my magic dissipated, she looked at herself with a hint of confusion and tilted her head to gaze up at me.
“What did you do?”
“Your body was at its limit, right? So I removed the excess power. Also, I went ahead and dispelled the curse placed on you as a bonus.”
“Wha, you could do that?”
“Well, it feels like I’ve just recently become able to.”
Although Lavienne’s body appeared normal at first glance, it was actually on the verge of collapse. According to what she had told me before, it had been kept barely in balance after receiving a mix of shadow spirit blood and magic just before the Albani Count House was destroyed, and she could lose her self-awareness at any moment.
That’s why she came to me today, convinced I would surely guarantee her death.
However, even I would not have been able to break her curse before, nor could I remove the forcibly injected magic or blood. Still, due to my power specializing in this, I somehow managed to lift her curse and restore her balance.
“You’re amazing! You can do anything!”
“Not everything, but enough of that. I’ll heal your injuries, so just stay still.”
If I truly could do anything, I would probably not even be here right now. After healing her wounds, I tended to my own as well.
“Wow! Thank you!”
“Don’t mention it. So, what are you going to do now?”
It seemed this was the first time she had her injuries healed by someone, as she was fascinated by her restored arms and legs while I asked her about her future.
“About the future, huh…”
“Exactly. The Albani Count House is gone now, and Kamael is dead, right? So you can’t go to the academy as Kamael anymore. Or will you continue living by borrowing someone else’s appearance?”
“Nope. I’m not doing that anymore! I’ve decided to live in my true form!”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah. I was borrowing everyone’s appearances because I was lonely, and more than that, I wanted to leave proof that everyone was alive. But even though Kushana and the others are dead, apparently they’re waiting for me in the afterlife, so it’s all good now.”
“I see.”
I couldn’t tell exactly what was in that letter, but her words suggested it likely contained kind thoughts for Lavienne’s future.
“Then it’s even more important to think about what’s next for you. Do you have anything you want to do?”
“That’s the problem… Unfortunately, I lived only to die, follow orders, and destroy the Albani Count House, so I can’t think of anything I want to do.”
“I kind of get that feeling.”
As she said, during the countless times I returned from death, my feelings had gradually diminished, and along with them, my desires faded too.
However, thoughts tend to create entirely new ideas once they circle around, and I found that after losing feelings like love and a desire to change the future or take revenge, what remained was simply a wish to die, a desire to grow stronger, and wanting to enjoy life.
“Oh, but I might want to go back to the academy! It sounds fun to be with Ruu-kun and everyone else.”
“Wait, but isn’t it going to be hard now that Kamael’s identity is dead? And who’s Ruu-kun?”
“Ruu-kun is you! It’s just easier to call you that. Is that a problem?”
“I’m not really against it, but it’s the first time I’m being called that, so it feels a bit strange.”
“Ahaha, I just took your first time away!”
That might not be wrong, but the way she said it had some strange nuances, and I wanted her to stop immediately.
“Also, would you mind asking the headmaster about the academy?”
“Why do I have to do it?”
“Well, Ruu-kun, you’re friends with the headmaster, right? So if you ask, maybe he’ll say yes. Of course, I’ll take the exams if there are any, so please let him know.”
“Fine. But in exchange, what’re you going to do for me?”
“Hmm, let me think…”
Lavienne sat on the ground, swinging her legs as she thought for a moment, then suddenly burst into a playful grin.
“How about I kick that guy from S class who always bothers you out of the school?”
“Kick him out? How would we do that?”
“It’s simple! We just need to make my transfer exam a duel against him, and if I win, I’m good! Just set the condition that if he loses, he has to leave S class!”
“I see.”
If we go that route, Mejiina seems to be struggling with Shudo, and even Lime finds him a hassle. So maybe we could actually kick Shudo out of S class.
But there’s just one problem: can Lavienne really beat Shudo? Honestly, with her abilities, she could give him a good fight, but there’s a high chance she’d ultimately lose.
Their magic types are simply incompatible.
“Can you really beat that guy?”
“Well, to be honest, my magic doesn’t match his well, but I have other strategies up my sleeve! I have to use anything I can!”
With a sly smile, Lavienne looked much more menacing than her youthful appearance suggested, but if she said she was confident, I’d take that as true.
“If that’s the case, I’ll leave that to you. And I’ll casually mention it to the headmaster.”
“Please do!”
After we wrapped up our discussion, we directed our gaze toward the place where Lavienne had buried items in memory of Kamael and the others, offering a prayer, before using teleportation magic to return to my room.
Afterward, Lavienne said she had things to do and left the room, while I cleaned myself with magic and soon let fatigue take me to sleep.
The next day.
Waking up in the dorm bed, I had a swift breakfast with items pulled from storage, then took a moment to isolate my surroundings using space-time magic to create a separate world.
From storage, I retrieved the book left behind by Igar Scarlet, the original sage, which I found the last time I visited Sonia’s family.
“Phew. I’ve finally become skilled enough in magic to break this book’s seal.”
This book was sealed with magic of all elements for reasons unknown, and to break the seal, I had to use high-level magic from all elements and intertwine them at set wave frequencies before pouring them into the book, which had always made it impossible for me to open before.
However, after battling Mejiina and learning how she utilized her magic, I practiced further and finally reached a level where I could break the seal just the other day.
“Alright then. I wonder what’s written in here?”
I hoped there weren’t embarrassing poems or preferences for women written inside as I broke the seal. Upon finishing reading the contents, I couldn’t help but laugh at the end.
“Ahaha! So that’s it! I see, you’re the real deal, sage!”
As I praised Igar, the original sage, I glanced back at the book in my hand.
“While you’re reading this book, I wonder how many years have passed since my death. A few years? Several decades? Or has it been a few centuries?
Well, it hardly matters how many years have passed. I have little time left. So I thought to leave this book as a final testament.
This book holds the content I’ve researched my entire life.
To get straight to the point, this world is rather peculiar.
I won’t waste your time explaining my journey to this realization, but have you noticed? There are no records of history prior to a certain era.
And not a single person finds this strange.
If you haven’t noticed, you should look into it. Find out what the earliest records in this book indicate.
What happened to the era before that?
I couldn’t arrive at the truth, but I hope you reading this book can uncover it.
Finally, after reading this book, make sure to dispose of it. This book should not remain in this world. If someone with weak magic handles it, they will surely perish.
If you can read this book, then you probably have a substantial amount of magic and are excellent in its manipulation.
So you may not need to worry too much about your life, but still, take care. We are always being watched.”
The book ended there, and despite its thickness, nothing more was written, continuing only with blank pages.
“The earliest era, huh? Now that I think about it, it does seem that way. The history of this world is, as he said, quite odd.”
This was something I had never noticed before, but just as Igar recorded, there are no records of history beyond a specific point in time.
So when exactly is that point? It’s said to be around two thousand years ago when the empire was founded.
Basically, what I’m getting at is while there are history texts about the wars leading to the founding of the empire, there are no records left about the circumstances leading to those wars, the histories of the three kingdoms that formed the empire’s foundation, and not even the names of any prior nations or their notable figures.
“Well, they say an ancient civilization existed before that, but it’s still strange that there’s a blank period between the time when that civilization was said to exist and the founding of the empire.”
It felt as if that blank period had truly no existence and suddenly, the world was created from two thousand years ago and this empire sprang into being.
“I see now. That’s why Igar went to the Kingdom of God Tree.”
When we visited the Kingdom of God Tree, we learned from the king, Kaylee, that it was Igar who created the teleportation magic circle. His reason for visiting was likely to investigate the last remaining records.
After all, elves are a long-lived race compared to humans, so there’s a chance they could provide specific stories that have changed far fewer times over generations, and they might even have accurate records.
And the results of that investigation are likely what’s recorded in this book.
“Hah. To think the final piece of the puzzle was this book. Thanks to it, I was finally able to grasp the truth of this world.”
I had felt something crucial was missing all this time, but with the reading of this book, that missing piece clicked perfectly into place and, in that instant, I understood the truth of this world.
“I always thought this world seemed like a story, but to discover that it’s truly a fabricated one.”
This was the truth I arrived at.
During my countless returns from death, I thought of this world as one with a brave hero, a heroine, and events happening around them, just like a story. Yet, that was not merely an illusion; it was actually the answer.
In other words, this world is a story fashioned by gods, where the hero and his companions overcome hardships to find happiness, truly a world meant for heroes.
Thus, when I finish reading the book, the world resets back to the beginning, and along with it, I too return from death.
As noted in Igar’s book, the lack of records from before two thousand years ago likely stems from the idea that having a history of two thousand years would add depth to the story. Simply put, the history of two thousand years serves as mere backing to enrich the tale, and it’s possible that previous records simply never existed.
Furthermore, the important narrative takes place with the hero Shudo, the heroine Iris, and others living in this time, which is, in fact, the real world.
Also, I suspect ancient civilizations never existed either. The heroes, demon kings, and holy swords supposedly existing during that time might just be dramatic devices to make the hero seem more special.
“Given that, I guess my role is that of the villain, huh?”
Once I understood this world was a story, my role naturally became clear. Reflecting on my past actions, being forced into things, and especially how Shudo always comes at me with accusations before ultimately killing me, it seems I have to accept I’m the villain.
“Well, at this point, I don’t really care about that. What matters more is if the one responsible for creating this world and circumstances is the god, then it’s the god who shaped my unkillable fate. Hehe. A god.”
Normally, one might feel intimidated or despaired when facing a deity, but not me.
True, when it comes to facing a god, it would be nearly impossible for something simply created by a god like me to win, but so what?
I don’t possess such naive feelings to tremble just because it’s a god, and more importantly, realizing that if I kill the god, I might finally be able to die fills me with a sense of joy.
Instead, the thought of possibly being able to finally die fills me with happiness, and the idea of battling a god sends excitement through my chest.
“Moreover, it seems there are ways to counter them. Apparently, Igar managed to escape a brainwashing spell cast by a god, leading him to question this world, and Sonia and others must be resisting a similar kind of brainwashing from Shudo with their own magic. When I think about it, it’s possible to defeat a god depending on one’s magical prowess.”
If the power a god wields is divine power, then hypothetically, magic could be an opposing force to that divine power. Thus, having a large amount of magic or a high density might allow one to repel the divine power just like Igar did.
“It became a bit troublesome, but it’s actually quite convenient. Kill the god, and it’s all over. Nice and simple.”
And so, having unexpectedly uncovered the truth of this world, I added god-slaying to my final goal of death and, in the end, burned the book in my hands with fire magic, just as Igar requested.

Thus concludes the “Wail of the Past” arc!
I’m glad to see this chapter come to a successful end!
This chapter’s first half included a battle with Shudo-kun, but it was actually a chapter for Lavienne-chan.
While the development has been a bit heavy, I hope you’ve enjoyed it!
And at the end, a shocking truth emerged from something completely unexpected, allowing us to learn the secret of this world!
As you might suspect, we’re slowly approaching the end.
That said, I plan to continue for another two to three chapters, but it’s a bit bittersweet to think the end is coming.
Nevertheless, I will keep writing to ensure everyone enjoys the story until the very end, so I would greatly appreciate your support!
Now, regarding future plans and the next chapter.
First, I intend to post a round of past chapters as before.
Then, as the cast has grown, I’ll introduce the characters featured from the previous chapter to this ending chapter, followed by the previously discussed episode in celebration of reaching 4 million PV.
Once everything is wrapped up, I’ll finally move on to the next chapter, so it might take a bit longer to get there, and I hope you understand!
I look forward to your continued support of this work!!!
