Chapter 62
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Episode 62: Repayment
After discussing what to do with Viola and the others alongside Fiera, we decided that I would use wind magic to transport them to the teleportation magic circle so they could join us outside.
“It’s impossible to carry five people out at once.”
Since I started training in martial arts, my body has been well-trained, and with physical enhancement, lifting them weight-wise isn’t an issue.
However, as much as I’m broken, I’m still human, so I only have two arms. No matter how hard I try, I could only carry two people at most, and if I ask Fiera to carry two as well, that still leaves one person behind.
Therefore, this time I’ll float Viola and the others using wind magic.
After returning to the outside of the dungeon through the teleportation magic circle, we entrusted Viola and the others to a medical facility where the guild staff was present, and since we were tired, we headed back to the inn to rest.
“Excuse me, are you awake?”
“…huh?”
The next day, a man from the inn visited my room where I had been sleeping from exhaustion.
“What’s going on?”
“Looks like you were asleep. Sorry to wake you up. But there are people here who want to see you. I’ve sent your friend to wake her up, what do you want to do?”
“They want to see us?”
“Yeah. Apparently, they came to thank you guys for saving them yesterday…”
Only then did I finally understand who was visiting, and I informed the man that I would get dressed and head out.
After getting dressed and leaving my room, I found that Fiera had finished preparing and came out from the next room.
“Good morning. Looks like Viola and the others have come to visit.”
“Yeah, I’m glad they’re okay.”
After a brief greeting, we proceeded to the table near the entrance to meet Viola and the others.
“Hey, sorry to interrupt your rest.”
Viola noticed us and stood up to greet us.
“No, it’s fine.”
As we sat down, we confirmed once more that Viola and all her companions were safe.
“I’m glad everyone seems to be okay.”
When I said that, they all stood up at once and bowed their heads towards us.
“Thank you so much for what you did back there. We owe you our lives, and words can’t express our gratitude.”
“Thank you very much!”
With Viola as the leader, she was the first to express her thanks, and the other members echoed her words in unison.
While I was thinking of how to respond, they continued to bow their heads and didn’t seem to want to sit back down.
“I’ll gladly accept your thanks, so please, sit down first.”
Realizing the conversation wasn’t advancing, I decided to have them sit down.
“Eir-kun, once again, thank you so much. Without you guys, we would have died there.”
“No, I just wanted to repay a favor.”
“A favor? I think we just met yesterday…”
I simply wanted to repay Viola for the kindness she showed me in my previous life; I didn’t help them expecting anything in return.
“That’s just my side of things, so don’t worry about it. More importantly, what are you all planning to do now?”
“Ah. This time, my eagerness for our goal put everyone in danger, and we’ve had a discussion about it, so for now, we’re planning to train from scratch again. We still might not be able to beat the boss on the 30th floor, but we’re going to join forces and definitely take it down this time.”
Viola said this with a motivated expression, and there was no trace of anxiety in her eyes.
“I think that’s a good idea. If you keep going like this, you’ll definitely grow stronger.”
“Thank you. We’ll do our best so that we can become strong like you one day.”
After she said that, we shook hands, and I watched them leave.
Back in my room, I started to think about the past and present Viola.
“I should have been able to repay her for the kindness she showed me in the past. In the future, she’ll surely grow stronger alongside her friends. More importantly…”
I realized I had changed someone’s future. For me, this was something far more important, a positive event to reflect on for what was to come.
So far, I had tried to change my future with Iris, and I had attempted to alter my fate of dying, but I had never tried to save someone from death.
Even though there had been cases where someone died in another life but didn’t die in the next, I was too focused on myself.
Moreover, my understanding of the world was too limited; I had no idea how people like Viola lived without any connection to me.
It was almost as if it was the norm; I never considered venturing into the outside world until now.
“Is the hero’s appearance the starting point? Only those around the hero seem to follow different fates apart from my deaths?”
The hero and the people around him involved themselves in my deaths in varying ways, and various incidents always occurred around him.
But what was going on during the periods when the hero wasn’t around, or what about other regions and their people?
I felt like the monster rampage in Adonyar happened every time; perhaps Viola’s past was also a series of experiences that repeated every time, making the Suzette Academy a significant setting for this return from death, along with the hero and his surroundings.
“Mmm, this isn’t going anywhere. I lack information.”
I raised various hypotheses, but I couldn’t come to any solid conclusions. Exhausted from thinking, I let my consciousness drift off to sleep.
After finishing our exploration of the Underwater Dwelling, we took a day to rest at the inn and returned to the coastal city of Minerva with the 1 PM transport.
Before leaving, the inn’s staff and Viola came to see us off, promising to meet again before we parted ways.
“Alright, what should we do next?”
Initially, we planned to stay here for two to three weeks, but since we cleared the dungeon sooner than expected, I started to think about what to do now.
“Since we’re here, should we challenge a C Rank dungeon?”
“Hmm… But doesn’t that seem a bit lacking in reward?”
I say this, but our strength is quite high. Honestly, if we challenge a C Rank dungeon, there’s probably not much we could gain from it.
“But gaining experience in various dungeons is important.”
“…Hmmm.”
Sure enough, she was right. If we ever encountered a similar place to a C Rank dungeon in the future, we could utilize that experience then.
“Well, it probably won’t take too long, so let’s do it.”
“Yep.”
“Before that, remember that we’re going out tomorrow.”
“We’re going out?”
“We’re going on a date, right? If it’s not necessary, we could skip it…”
“I’ll go.”
Fiera responded a bit too eagerly, her tail wagging as she smiled widely.
Then, we rented a room at the same inn we stayed in on our first day in Minerva, sending Fiera ahead while I asked the innkeeper for information on tourist attractions and a sightseeing guide.
~Side Fiera~
While Luis was asking the innkeeper about local attractions, Fiera was alone in the room, feeling delighted.
“He remembers our date…”
She was thrilled that Luis remembered their date plan, collapsing onto the bed and kicking her legs in joy.
“But what about my outfit?”
Fiera had never experienced love, let alone been on a date. Therefore, she had no idea what kind of date clothes to wear or what to do on the day.
“I should have listened to my mom and the others back then… No, it might not help with El.”
Before leaving the country, she had been taught how to attract a guy by her mother, but since she thought it was irrelevant to her, she’d let the advice slip away.
Furthermore, even if she remembered, she knew Luis disliked it when someone closened the distance, so she risked pushing him away if she tried to get too close now.
“No. He might lose interest.”
Fiera had no idea what had happened, but she sensed that being around Luis constantly had worn him down, and his normal emotions seemed to have faded away.
The only reason she could stay with Luis was that, for some reason, he still held some interest in her and hadn’t yet been triggered to find her bothersome.
“For now, let’s go buy clothes later.”
Fiera wanted to stay with Luis forever, but whether that wish would come true was uncertain. Still, she understood that going too fast could lead to the worst outcome, so she cautiously took her time in closing the distance with Luis.
