Chapter 94
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 94: Practical Training Ends
After finishing my fight with Aido, I tossed him into the cage along with the other assassins and stored the magic axe in the storage.
A little while later, Fiera was the first to return, and as soon as she spotted me, she rushed over and hugged me.
“El!”
“Haah… You’ve really been getting less shy lately, huh?”
At first, she didn’t seem this proactive, but perhaps because we’ve been together for a long time, it feels like she’s been hugging me without holding back.
(No, I think she was testing the limits of what I’d resist right from the start.)
But on reflection, I realized that when we first started our journey, she would crawl into bed and say nonsensical things about needing help, so she really hadn’t changed at all from the beginning.
I peeled Fiera off of me and took a look at her injuries.
“You’re looking quite beaten up.”
“There were some pretty strong opponents. You’re hurt badly too.”
“Haha. I also had a great opponent. It was really fun.”
“Mm. That’s good.”
We both laughed as we looked at our battered bodies, then we started talking about our battles.
It seemed that Fiera’s opponent had some pretty advanced skills, and from just listening to her, it was really informative.
If I had my way, I would have loved to fight that person directly, but he was probably knocked out somewhere along the way after being dragged here tied up by Fiera.
On the contrary, when I told Fiera about Aido, she seemed to really like his straightforward fighting style based on strength, and she said she wanted to fight him if the chance arose.
“Oh, right, Fiera. Put the guy we dragged in that cage over there.”
“Roger that.”
As Fiera dragged the man towards the cage, a scream-like sound echoed from the depths of the forest.
“Kyaaah!”
“What’s that?”
I turned my gaze toward the sound out of curiosity and saw a woman wrapped tightly in vines, being swung around and heading our way.
“Fiera. We’ve got another one. Open the cage door for me.”
“Got it.”
As Fiera opened the cage door as instructed, the vines sensed it and made one final swing, tossing the woman right into the cage.
“What the… is she?”
As I watched the woman dizzy inside the cage, a few other men who seemed to be assassins were also being brought in by vines and tossed into the cage one after the other.
And then, finally…
“FIERA!!!”
The unusually angry Shuvina rushed in, grabbing Fiera’s shoulder with tremendous force and shaking her back and forth.
“Why didn’t you come collect the people you captured while they were tied to the trees? I was waiting for you to come and collect them, but you didn’t! In the end, I had to drag everyone back myself!!”
“Mm. I forgot.”
“Forgot? I ended up getting kind of chummy with the assassins thanks to you!”
It seemed Shuvina was angry because Fiera had captured assassins and tied them to the trees but had taken way too long to come pick them up, leaving Shuvina to do it herself.
“Fiera. You have to take care of things until the end.”
“Mm. I’ll be more careful next time. Sorry, Shuv.”
“…Sigh, whatever. More importantly, why are you two so battered? Are you okay?”
“We fought some enemies.”
“Mm. They were strong opponents.”
“Ahh. But it was fun!”
“Mm. It was fun.”
“You two are like a couple of battle maniacs.”
Shuvina let out another exasperated sigh and pulled out two healing potions from her bag.
“For now, use these to heal up.”
“Thanks.”
If I had enough magic, I could have pulled potions from storage, but unfortunately, I didn’t have enough magic left to do so right now.
After patching up our wounds a bit with the healing potions, we began discussing what to do next.
“So? What do we do now?”
“For now, I’ll use a detection spell to see if any enemies are left.”
I used almost all my remaining magic to cast the detection spell and checked if there were any remaining forces within the barrier.
“There’s no one we missed. Okay, I’ll undo the barrier magic, so Shuvina, send up a signal flare for rescue. Then the teachers should come, and we can leave the rest to them.”
“Got it.”
After Shuvina responded, I immediately undid the barrier magic, and she launched the spell into the sky.
After waiting a bit, three teachers including Eiri arrived and were shocked by the situation.
“What on earth happened?”
“I’ll explain later. For now, can we please move these guys? I’m honestly quite tired.”
“Y-yeah. But how are we going to move this big cage?”
“I’ll create a golem using earth magic to carry it.”
“Understood. Please do that.”
One of the teachers said this and knelt down to the ground, chanting a spell, summoning five giant golems in total.
The golems lifted the cage and began walking toward the forest exit.
We followed them out, and after a while, we finally managed to exit the forest.
During that time, Sonia had been quietly staring at Lewis, deep in thought, without saying a word.
~side???~
In a certain location, the man who had commissioned the assassination was unable to hide his surprise upon hearing the results of the assignment.
“What?! You mean to say it failed!!”
“Yes. According to the reports from my subordinate who infiltrated the academy, it seems the assassination was unsuccessful. Moreover, all those we hired were captured as well.”
“N-no way…”
The man collapsed weakly into his chair, staring blankly at the ceiling with a look of utter despair.
“Despite gathering such powerful individuals, why? Who on earth defeated them?”
“According to reports, it appears the students who were in the same team as that girl managed to defeat them.”
“Students?!”
“Yes. It seems it was the beastman who instantly killed the prince along with his companions.”
“Ha.. haha… I see.”
The man, now without the strength even to shout, hung his head with vacant eyes.
(This man may no longer be useful.)
As the butler who had made the report observed the man, he decided to abandon him and return to his true master.
The butler lowered his head and exited the room, contemplating what to do next while walking down the hallway.
(But still, I can’t return with only this pathetic result. I’ll gather information about those students who defeated the assassins and bring that as a gift instead.)
With a sinister smile, the butler vanished into the darkness.
