Chapter 3: The Hunt..
Soon the day of the hunt came. It was said the weather was a good one for hunt. The day seemed favourable for a hunt. A lot of animals came out of their hiding places to dance in the sun. While some, like the wolves deemed it a very good day for hunt. They all gathered in their human form, awaiting the hunt leader to address them. They were fifteen of them, both the Alpha and the Omega Werewolves alike.
"We are going to divide ourselves into two groups, my cousin Kalispel is going to hunt the North with the seven of you, then I'll go to the South with the remaining seven. We'll meet back at this place before sunset; all of us. Now we are going to be having a head count when we return to make sure we aren't loosing anyone. Remember, if the game runs out of the border, stop the chase and return to the pack. I repeat, stop the chase and return to the pack. Do I make myself clear?" She asked
"Yes Princess!" They all echoed
"Now let's go" She said.
Almost at the same time all of them changed into their wolf form and howled to mark the beginning of the hunt. Tahira went down to the South of the village with her own pack. So did Kalispel to the North.
The Antelopes were the easiest to catch because mostly they were free spirited their sensitivity wasn't timely. The wolves hid behind the trees and watched closely, on Tahira's signal, two of the wolves aimed at the Antelope but it seemed they noticed all wasn't well because the environment became suspiciously quiet, even the birds weren't singing anymore. Everywhere just went cold. That was when it occurred to them.
'zooooommmmm' the Antelopes fled. They ran as fast as their legs could go. But, the two wolves pursued them heatedly. One Antelope was down in a matter of minutes. It took another two minutes race to get the second wolf to pin down the second antelope. They dragged it by the mouth and brought them to rest with the rest of the wolves. Just like that another set went out for a new game. Before sunset Tahira and her team had up to twelve games. When they were done, they headed to their meeting point. When Tahira and her team arrived she realized that the second group wasn't there yet. They decided to wait a while. Just then they saw them approach with fear in their eyes. Most of them were breathing heavily and changing back to their human form almost immediately.
Then finally Kalispel spoke up.
"We were attacked, One of us is missing."
Tahira changed back to her wolf form immediately as soon as the words left Kalispel's mouth. She ran as fast as she could into the thick forest in the North before it was completely dark.
As she got to each point in the forest, she howled and listen carefully to know if she could get a howl back. She didn't hear a thing until she went deep into the forest, almost getting to the border between her kingdom and the other. And, as she could remember she had heard many tales as to when she was little, concerning the border and what lies beyond it, as a result of this she had been warned so many times to stay away from the border.
Before she could get to the border, she howled once again and fortunately, she heard a little howl from the edge of the border. She was excited and at the same wary of whatever it was that laid there. If it was the werewolf they were looking for then it was good news. If it wasn't, well, she didn't want to think of it.
She walked closer with caution, she noticed a swamp, but carefully avoided it. When she got closer, she saw an injured Omega Werewolf cuddled by the corner of a tree.
She moved closer and grabbed her with her teeth and made to leave.
'whaaamm!' She felt a force on her that she found herself on the ground and the Omega wolf left her grip, She spun to check who are attacker was only for her gaze to meet a gigantic green pair of eyes. Before she had time to blame her stars for the type of luck she had. The wolf attacked her. She maintained her stance and successfully blocked off the attacks. It seemed as though the more she blocked the attacks the more aggressive the wolf became. She was almost loosing her wits. She was exhausted already from the hunt. She couldn't keep blocking off the attacks from the other end. The other wolf didn't seem to be getting tired. It was as if it had a bank full of energy. It noticed that Tahira was already gassing out, it started throwing out it's attack furiously at her. She kept on dodging till she could dodge no more. she really needed to get out of there as it was almost dark, and she had a wounded wolf to carry. She sought for a way to escape but she couldn't. She knew she could run really fast but she needed to find a way to distract the wolf. She suddenly deemed her eyes as she remembered the swamp, then she made a run for it, the other wolf chased after her as expected. When she got to the swamp she ducked but the other wolf wasn't too aware and fell in. As soon as he was in, she ran to the wolf picked it up with her fangs and ran as fast as she could. She ran until she was sure that there was no trace of the wolf behind her, thereafter, she made her way out of the forest slowly.
When she got to where the others were, there was a look of relief as they saw her. Most of them were wondering what the King's reaction would have been, if something happened to his daughter. Kalispel was of course disappointed. She didn't expect her to make it out of there.
Back inside the forest the wolf had to change to the human form and managed to get hold of a stick before he successfully got out of the swamp. He opened his eyes and thought.
"A brown werewolf...hmmmm." He thought, he had never seen any in his kingdom, even in history. He didn't dwell much on it and quickly climbed of the border. He knew he had encroached on another's land and no matter the reason for him being there, wether good or bad, he was going to be seen as as offender. He left but the thought of the werewolf he had just fought, lingered.
