The Witcher: My Own Path

Chapter 5: Chapter Four:  Bits of information

Yesterday was full of information. Even though I don't enjoy playing the role of a four-year-old child, it's the only way I can live, being around my new father and probably other people I'll start meeting soon. However, the mental gymnastics I had to do to ask questions consistent with my current age and understanding of the world around us was even more tiring. But I don't want to feel sorry for myself because at the end of the day it was all worth it. Leaving our house, we headed West, where the salamander's hideout was located in the game, then we headed towards the house of the reverend of the Eternal Fire cult and continued along the same road towards the Maribor Gate. We turned East, heading towards the merchant gate, passing a small fishing village and a mill gate with a mill on the other side of the river. Reaching the merchant's bridge, at the merchant's gate we began to head towards our home, passing Abigail's future home in the process… unless there were any changes in the future. Surprisingly, our house and forge are located in the place of the inn, which we visit as the first location in the outskirts, where the beast attacks the villagers. The game does not explain the history of the inn's construction, but I can speculate that someone bought my father's land and built an inn there, enclosing it with a wooden palisade, while leaving the forges behind. The blacksmith was a dwarf, so I assume that the father sold the land and moved or died without leaving any descendants, so the land returned to the king's property and was then sold and developed in this way. I could organize everything in a similar way, which would certainly bring many benefits. Coming back to the topic, after I found out that I am Temerian and live in the outskirts of the town, in the place where Geralt's adventure almost begins in the first instalment of the Witcher trilogy. I had to find out what time, specifically the date, because at some point the outskirts start to get really uninteresting and if everything develops as it does in the game, we will all inevitably die, either by the beast or slaughtered by Geralt. I hope that soon I will begin to fully benefit from the gifts that this powerful donor has given me.

Then I asked about the dwarves and elves I saw, who were they? His attitude and that of other people towards them? I asked about other children in the area, hoping to play with them. My questions didn't stop him from interjecting his own thoughts and comments and warnings about monsters, and he regaled me with the most basic knowledge an ignorant peasant could have about the Conjunction of Spheres crisis. Finally, I asked about himself.

I will live with him if nothing bad happens until I reach adulthood, which is around the age of fourteen or fifteen. He is and will be the closest person to me until then and considering how much he has feelings for me, for which I am very grateful. He will watch me even more closely, which means I need to know where his limits are and how far I can push them.

So, from the information collected it follows:

I was born in 1242, my mother ran away with some bard, a month later she stole all my father's savings, currently no one knows where she is or if she is even alive.

I am a Temerian, I live in the outskirts of Vizima, the capital of the kingdom. Our community numbers approximately around one hundred and fifty people.

People I may know from the games who are currently children and live in the area are: Iisa, the miller's daughter, Odo and his brother, Haren and Vesna.

Elves and dwarves are discriminated against, but it is not very visible, because there are only a few of them living in the outskirts, and as for how they are treated in the city, I assume it is certainly not better.

Currently, the year is 1246, about eleven years before Geralt will take the curse off Princess Adda.

Twenty-one years before the great battle of Brenna.

Twenty-one years before the events of the first Witcher game, there was also the outbreak of the Catriona plague, which devastated Vizima and the surrounding area.

To sum up:

I have enough time to work on my personal development. Enough time to develop a plan that could make me wealthy and significant enough in Vizima, and perhaps even in all of Temeria, to have real power and influence that could enable me to make changes not only around me, but also in the entire kingdom. I know that it will not be a straight and smooth road, but I have a very good start which gives me confidence that possible assumptions and well-thought-out plans can come to fruition.

Our unexpected several-hour walk, along with a very informative conversation, gave me considerable insight into the situation I was in. This isn't all the information I'd need, but considering the condition of my little body, the intelligence gathering possibilities that come with it, it was more than I expected.

Our little trip gave my father an excuse to focus on work for some time and neglect me a little, after all, he fulfilled his fatherly duty by spending some time with his own child, although he will still look after me during breaks from work. I cannot forget his plans to go to Vizima to find me a reading and writing teacher.

As for my father's personality, although big-hearted when it comes to his feelings for me, I conclude that he is very likely like all the uneducated villagers around him, that is, superstitious and superstitious. More complicated science for him is probably a manifestation of magic and evil demonic forces that need to be cleansed as quickly as possible on a pile fire. Racist, but not passionately.

Application:

I would have to be very careful about my behavior around him, I could show my intelligence, but not at the level of a genius, because he would probably think I was under the influence of a demon and burn me along with the entire population of the area, screaming insults at me. The line between love and hate is very thin, and I don't want to test it in practice, and fear is quite a common trigger for hatred. I could even say that he is one of the main ones, but why not seek advice from a real expert in this field?

I sit cross legged in my own room, making sure it's safe.

I reach into the power with my mind and direct it towards the object in my hand. It immediately responds to my call, rising and levitating at my eye level.

''Hello again, my little Tyr. I hope you are in good health after our last meeting?'' Darth Sidious asked and smiled softly.

I could respond to this provocation and I even had a few good retorts, but whatever the case, the holocron is only an imitation of someone's personality, one could even say that it is a machine, a computer. However, it is still an extremely advanced computer, so there is no point in arguing with the machine.

I rose from my sitting position and knelt down in the same way his former apprentice Darth Vader had done.

''Yes, my master.'' I replied.

''Hmm... I see that someone will be a very bright student, little Tyr, don't disappoint me again as the consequences may be a bit more... enlightening this time. Ahahahaha!'' He laughed maniacally.

''Yeah, but they won't be for me, as soon as you give me all your knowledge, I will personally crush that damn holocron to dust along with your entire twisted personality.'' I thought, still keeping my head down, not daring to look at him.
