The Young Demon Lord and her Maid-Knight

Chapter 89: True Demon Lord

As time passed, Ella slowly opened her eyes, her gaze resting on a peacefully sleeping Lilith nearby. A soft smile played on her lips as she watched her sister.

"My sister," she whispered to herself, her voice tinged with both warmth and longing, "I hope it won't be long before we're truly united. I'll go to Elara and Levy to tell them what's happened. I wonder… how much time has passed while I've been in this state."

The thought lingered as Ella stretched her tiny wings and took to the air, the gentle breeze brushing against her as she flew toward the beach house. Something felt different—new and exhilarating. She was faster, her movements more fluid, her body practically humming with energy. She paused mid-flight, hovering in place, as realization struck her.

Her entire being seemed to brim with the power of the world around her. Her sharp eyes noticed details she had never seen before: the delicate, shimmering strands of the world's ley lines weaving through the land and the vibrant flow of mana dancing through the air.

"Oh," she murmured, awe washing over her, "so this is how mana looks like when it's not being used—just flowing naturally around us." She twirled in place, delighting in the dazzling display only she could see. Then, a curious thought crossed her mind.

"What about that world Lilith visited? Babelheim, wasn't it? She told me the mana there was so dense, even Aurora could manifest a translucent spirit body." Ella tilted her head, pondering. "If that place was heavy with mana, maybe that's why Lilith grew so much stronger there. But here… this feels amazing. This feels like home."

A newfound confidence surged within her as she resumed her flight. The world around her felt alive in a way it never had before, every particle of magic resonating with her essence. Ella's tiny body shimmered faintly, reflecting the raw power of the natural world.

"I guess… I'm a true fae now," she said aloud, her voice filled with wonder and pride. A radiant smile lit her face as she sped toward the beach house, ready to share her transformation and newfound insights with Elara and Levy.

As Ella approached the house, she could feel the dense mana surrounding it, an aura of pure energy that made the air hum with life. "This much mana… it must be Levy's doing," she murmured, her wings fluttering with a newfound sense of connection to the flow of magic.

The sky was growing darker, the faint glow of twilight fading into the deep hues of evening. Ella landed gracefully near the door and knocked, her small voice calling out, "I'm back, Elara, Levy, and Tami!"

A scrabbling noise came from inside, and the door creaked open as a not-so-small Fenrir pup, Tami, pushed it with her nose. The now-larger Fenrir barked excitedly, her tail wagging like a whirlwind. Ella flew closer, wrapping her arms around the fluffy creature.

"Hello, Tami," Ella said warmly, her voice filled with affection. "I'm back. Wow, look at you! You've grown so much!"

Before Tami could respond, a faint shadow darted out from the dim interior. Levy appeared in an instant, her wings shimmering faintly in the magical light. She threw her arms around Ella and gasped, "Ella! You became a true fae?! That's incredible!" Levy pulled back slightly, her expression suddenly serious. "But… that means you're bound to this world now, like me. Are you okay with that?"

Ella hugged Levy tightly, a soft smile on her lips. "Yes, I know. The World Tree told me everything, but this was my choice. It felt right, Levy. And now, I suppose I can call you 'big sister,' since we're both connected to the tree."

Levy's serious expression melted into a bright smile. "Big sister, huh? I like the sound of that."

Elara had been watching the scene quietly, a knowing smile on her face. She finally stepped forward, her voice calm and welcoming. "It's been a while, Ella. Half a year, give or take. From what I'm hearing and seeing, it's clear you've grown a lot." She placed a gentle hand on Ella's shoulder. "Welcome back."

"Thank you, Elara," Ella said, her heart swelling with gratitude.

Elara's expression softened further as she asked, "And what about Lilith? Is she well?"

Ella's gaze shifted to the ground briefly before she looked back up, determination in her eyes. "Let me tell you everything," she began, her voice steady as she recounted the events of hers and Lilith's journey, her transformation, and the incredible strength she had gained.

The three of them listened intently as Ella's words painted a vivid picture of Lilith's growth and the trials she had faced. Outside, the stars began to fill the sky, their light twinkling like a blessing on the reunited companions.

In a world bound by light and darkness, Lilith's body lay curled up, her arms wrapped tightly around her knees. She had been lying there for what felt like eons, the ethereal currents of light and dark mana flowing in and out of her, weaving intricate patterns through her form. A calm, soothing voice resonated in the space around her, guiding her through the process.

"We are nearly done, child," the voice murmured, its tone both gentle and commanding. "You have almost learned everything I can teach you, and soon, you will be ready to leave. Only your body lags behind now, but I will help you."

As the words faded, a cocoon of shimmering mana began to form around Lilith. The threads of light and darkness intertwined, wrapping her in a protective shell. The voice continued, steady and reassuring. "Since you were born of pure magic, this transformation is easier for you than it would be for others. Every part of you, Lilith, is magical."

Time stretched endlessly within the cocoon, but at last, Lilith's crimson eyes fluttered open. Her vision blurred, unable to focus.

"Relax," the calm voice instructed. "Your body has been asleep for a year. It needs time to adjust to all it has absorbed. Close your eyes and feel your body with your hands."

Lilith hesitated but did as she was told. Her hands explored her form with cautious curiosity. Suddenly, her fingers brushed something unfamiliar atop her head.

"I… I have horns now?" Lilith exclaimed, her voice a mix of wonder and shock.

"Yes," the voice replied. "As a true Demon Lord and the balance of this world, your horns have grown. This transformation typically occurs over decades—20 to 50 years—but with your rebirth, it has come early. This is your destiny manifesting itself."

Lilith sat quietly, her hands resting on her lap, processing the changes within her. The voice broke the silence with a solemn tone.

"Oh, I nearly forgot," the voice added with a soft chuckle. "Lilith, my child, if you wish, you can easily hide your horns. Your entire body is built of pure magical mana, giving you the ability to reshape it at will. Whether you choose to display or conceal them is entirely up to you."

Lilith exhaled slowly, her mind racing. She reached up again, this time marveling at the smooth curves of her horns. "I see… That's a relief," she murmured, her lips curving into a faint smile.

The voice softened, as if aware of the burden Lilith carried. "Now, there is one final task for you. You must take the status of Hero from Elara and bind her to you. When this is done, the world will reach true balance. Its healing will proceed without resistance."

Lilith's brows furrowed, and she clenched her fists. "Elara… But what will that mean for her?"

"She will remain herself," the voice reassured her. "But she will become bound to your purpose, a symbol of harmony between light and darkness. Together, you will embody the world's balance."

The voice continued, "Remember, child: balance does not mean an absence of conflict. Wars and struggles will still arise across the lands. You will have the ability to sense these disturbances, should you choose. However, you must only intervene when these conflicts threaten the balance itself. To act otherwise is to disrupt what you have sworn to protect."

Lilith took a deep breath, her resolve hardening. "I understand. I will do what is necessary to uphold the balance."

"Good," the voice said with a note of pride. "Rise now, Lilith, Demon Lord and Keeper of Balance. Your journey continues."

The cocoon of mana dissolved into the air, and Lilith stood, her horns glinting in the dim light of the world around her. With a thought, she willed them to vanish, and they shimmered away like a mirage. She was no longer the same—reborn, stronger, and ready to face her destiny.

Closing her eyes, Lilith drew a steady breath, allowing herself to feel the world around her. She focused on the magical essence enveloping her, the mana flowing like rivers through the leylines beneath her feet. Each pulse of energy resonated within her, a song only she could hear.

Her body tingled as she connected with the leylines, her presence merging with the currents of magic. A faint glow began to emanate from her, soft yet powerful, as the mana responded to her command.

"Focus," she whispered to herself, her voice steady.

With an effortless grace, Lilith gathered the shimmering threads of mana around her, weaving them into a protective veil. The light and dark energies danced together in perfect harmony, swirling around her like a celestial tapestry.

In a single, decisive moment, she allowed the energy to envelop her completely. The air shimmered with an ethereal brilliance as her form became one with the magic.

And then, with a soundless ripple, she vanished.
