Chapter 72: Dinner
Jason leaned back in his chair, a mix of anticipation on his face as he watched the Gacha Wheel spin. He is sitting in study with dim lighting, a comfy armchair, and a table stacked with parchment for notes. When the wheel stopped, a familiar sense of both excitement and dread washed over him.
1. Mental Shield Creation
Jason: [nodding approvingly] "Alright, finally something useful. My Occlumency shields are decent, but this could turn them into Fort Knox. Let's see if this makes me invincible to nosey minds… "
2. Harley Quinn's Panties
Jason stared blankly at the screen, then slowly raised an eyebrow.
Jason: [deadpan] "Oh, yes. Just what every respectable wizard needs—a pair of psychotic clown-themed underwear. What am I supposed to do with this? Frame it? No, burn it. Definitely burn it. I am Loyal boyfriend ."
He flicked his wand, and the offending item burst into harmless flames. The smell of synthetic fabric burning lingered awkwardly.
Jason: [waving his hand to dispel the smoke] "Why does the Gacha Wheel do this to me? It's like it knows I'm too classy for this."
3. Memory Cleaning Device
Jason picked up the strange, sleek gadget that looked like a cross between a remote control and a toothbrush.
Jason: [squinting] "I mean… I already know Obliviate. This is like giving a chef a microwave dinner and calling it gourmet. Maybe I'll keep it around for emergencies, but honestly, I'm not thrilled."
4. Lily Evans Potter's Diary
Jason's breath hitched as he held up the elegant, leather-bound diary. For a moment, he just stared at it, running his fingers over the delicate gold lettering.
Jason: [softly] "Harry's going to lose it when I give this to him. It's not just a keepsake—it's a piece of his mum he's never had."
He carefully placed it on his desk, resolving to present it to Harry when the time was right.
5. John Wick's Martial Art
Jason felt the knowledge flood into him, and his body instinctively moved in precise, fluid motions.
Jason: [grinning ] "Okay, okay, I can work with this. Add a wand to the mix, and I'm basically a wizard ninja. Though, let's be real—using these moves without a gun feels empty."
6. Bulma Capsule Technology
Jason let out a low whistle as he inspected the small capsule in his hand.
Jason: [muttering] "This is a game-changer. Imagine storing entire house or magical artifacts in these. But do I market it to muggles, wizards, or keep it for myself? Decisions, decisions."
7. Holy Wand
Jason: [holding up the wand, feeling its power hum through his hand] "Pure heart? Check. Courage? Double-check. Willpower? Ha! This wand doesn't know what it's in for. Let's test this baby out later and see if it lives up to the hype."
8. Ice Devil Slayer Magic
Jason's grin widened into something almost feral as he felt the frosty magic settle into his core.
Jason: [laughing softly] "Oh, finally. Something elemental to counter my electricity. Heatblast, you better behave, because now I've got a whole arsenal to freeze you with."
9. Bio-Electricity Control
Jason clenched his fists, feeling the hum of electricity under his skin. Tiny sparks danced between his fingers.
Jason: [grinning like a madman] "Now we're talking. No more relying on those clunky artifacts—this is pure power. Maybe I'll zap Malfoy next time he gets mouthy."
10. Custom Superhero Suit
Jason stared at the sleek, form-fitting suit that materialized before him. It was dark blue with silver accents, lined with self-repairing threads and runic inscriptions for durability.
Jason: [sarcastically]
"Oh, brilliant. A spandex bodysuit. Exactly what the wizarding world needs—Jason Bourne in tights. I can hear the Daily Prophet headlines already: 'The Caped Wizard Crusader.'"
He chuckled, tucking it away. "Alright, I'll keep it for Halloween."
=====
Jason was deep into his notes, scribbling down the finishing touches to a theory about magical energy harmonics, when a familiar voice cut through his focus from downstairs.
Gran: "Dinner's ready, Jason! And don't make me come up there to drag you down!"
Jason sighed, setting his quill down with a chuckle.
Jason: "Alright, alright, I'm coming! Keep your wand holstered, Gran."
As he trudged down the stairs, the scent of roasted chicken, gravy, and freshly baked bread wafted up, making his stomach rumble. He entered the cozy kitchen, a warm, homely space filled with mismatched teacups, herbs hanging from the ceiling, and the comforting hum of a wizarding wireless playing softly in the background. His gran stood by the table, setting down a dish of steaming mashed potatoes.
Gran: [without turning around] "Took you long enough. Thought you'd invented a time-turner with how late you are."
Jason: "A time-turner would have been useful for this mess of a week. So, what's on the menu today?"
Gran turned, giving him a sharp look, her eyes twinkling with both amusement and reprimand.
Gran: "Nothing fancy, just some roast chicken and veg. But, tell me, why are you still living with an old woman like me when you've got the whole world talking about you?"
Jason smirked, plopping down into his usual chair.
Jason: "Well, technically, I'm still 16, so underage and in need of supervision."
Gran: [raising an eyebrow] "Underage? You're catching Death Eaters and throwing speeches like some wizened Auror. You're more grown-up than most of the Ministry put together!"
Jason laughed, reaching for the gravy boat.
Jason: "True, but none of them make roast chicken like you, Gran. That's why I'm really here."
Gran: [snorting as she sat down] "Cheeky boy. Now, eat up before it gets cold."
They began eating, the clinking of cutlery filling the room as the two settled into the kind of casual conversation that only came with years of familiarity.
Gran: "You've been awfully quiet lately. Not keeping secrets, are you?"
Jason: [with a mouthful of chicken] "Me? Secrets? Never. I'm an open book."
Gran: "Hmph. That's a lie if I've ever heard one. You've always been a bit of a brooder. Like your father."
Jason paused, his fork hovering mid-air. His gran rarely mentioned his parents unless prompted.
Jason: "He must've been a great man."
Gran: [smiling wistfully] "He was. Stubborn as a mule, though, just like you. And your mother… well, she was the clever one. Always three steps ahead. You've got her wit, you know."
Jason: [grinning] "And his stubbornness. Perfect combo."
Gran chuckled, reaching out to ruffle his hair, much to his mock protest.
Gran: "Perfect pain in my backside, you mean. But you're doing good, Jason. Your parents would be proud."
Jason felt a lump in his throat but swallowed it down along with another bite of potatoes.
Jason: [quietly] "Thanks, Gran."
They finished their meal in comfortable silence, the kind that spoke of understanding and unspoken love. As Jason stood to clear the plates, his gran waved him off.
Gran: "I'll handle it. You've got Death Eaters to catch and a world to save."
Jason: "And you've got roast chicken to make for when I get back."
Gran: [pointing her wand at him] "Cheeky boy. Go on, then."
