Chapter : The Codex of the Weave
In this world, the Weave is both a physical and metaphysical force that binds all of reality together, and as such, the laws governing its use are strict and binding. The following are three primary laws that all Weavers, and those who interact with the Weave, must follow to maintain the balance and prevent chaos from consuming the world:
1. The Law of Threadbound Integrity (Also known as the "Threadbearer's Oath")
Description: Weavers are forbidden from stealing, tampering with, or altering the Threads of others. The Weave is not just a tool, but the essence of life and reality itself. To violate another's Threads is considered an act of extreme arrogance and willful destruction. This law serves to protect the sanctity of the Weave, ensuring that individuals cannot exploit others' connections for personal gain.
Punishment: Violators are exiled, stripped of their Weave connection, and often hunted by the Association of Weavers. If the violation results in significant harm to the Weave or reality, the punishment may be death.
2. The Law of the Infinite Balance (Also known as the "Scale of Eternity")
Description: Weavers must not attempt to disrupt the natural balance of the Weave. Using the Weave to alter the world or bend reality for personal or ideological gain is considered a grave offense. This law dictates that all actions within the Weave must maintain or restore the balance of the Threads, and those who seek to tip the scale for their own desires, whether out of power, greed, or ambition, must be stopped.
Punishment: Those who break this law face severe restrictions on their powers, or in extreme cases, they may be "unwoven"—a process that severs their connection to the Weave, rendering them powerless. Unwoven individuals are often left as mere shadows of their former selves, unable to interact with the Weave ever again.
3. The Law of Threaded Unity (Also known as the "Bond of the Strands")
Description: Weavers are bound by a sacred duty to preserve the harmony between all regions of the world. This law ensures that no single group or individual can use the Weave to dominate or destroy entire regions. It is forbidden to manipulate the Weave in ways that would create division, such as warping the Threads to influence the stability or survival of entire populations or regions. Weavers are meant to act as guardians, protecting the Weave's unity, not as conquerors.
Punishment: Violators of this law risk becoming outcasts, branded as "Threadbreakers." Their actions can lead to interregional conflicts, and their punishment may involve public trials, where the Order decides whether they should be "rewoven" back into the system of unity or if they are to be permanently removed from the Weave.
These laws form the foundation upon which the Weavers' code is built. They serve to protect the delicate balance of the Weave and ensure that those who manipulate its power do so with great care and responsibility. Breaking any of these laws risks not only the fabric of reality but also the very existence of the Weavers and their legacy.
