Thriller!Me? The Death Knight

Chapter 35: He Yi's Ally: The Shadow Ghost's Assassination!

Inside the consultation room, the air was icy cold, the chill cutting to the bone.

Yi Bai sat in the chair, one hand lightly tapping on the table, eyes closed in contemplation. The ghoul, as quiet as ever, crouched behind him. With an extraordinary level of friendliness, the ghoul had already come to regard Yi Bai as the most cherished thing in its existence.

To be safe, in case something went wrong and He Yi managed to escape, Yi Bai had arranged for Lina to watch from the shadows.

"By now, Lina should be on her way back with Ralph, right?" Yi Bai muttered to himself, gazing out the window.

Under the darkened sky, crows perched on withered tree branches. Occasionally, one would give a piercing caw that sent a subconscious shiver down one's spine. Further away, the scenery was shrouded by a thin fog, blurring the details.

This was the nature of the Horror World.

The eerie mist had been proven to only obstruct the player's vision. It made it impossible for them to see anything beyond their immediate surroundings. Even though Yi Bai had been turned into a vampire, the fog still clouded his sight, preventing him from seeing clearly beyond the window.

"What is the true purpose of this Horror Game? Is it just a deadly game of survival?"

"Are these terrifying monsters pulling humans into this world for their own amusement? Or is there a greater, higher rule at work, turning the wheels of some cosmic fate?"

The quiet atmosphere provided Yi Bai with ample time for contemplation, and strange thoughts began to swirl in his mind. He looked out the window, faintly seeing the outline of what seemed to be a human city.

Once, no matter how terrifying and bizarre the Horror Game seemed, to him it had always been nothing more than a legend, a story. It wasn't until he had experienced it firsthand that he realized: this world, full of monsters, ghosts, and supernatural phenomena, was not so different from the world of humans.

The only difference was this: In the human world, humans were the masters. Here, it was the monsters' paradise, and humanity's hell...

Knock, knock, knock!

The sound of knocking broke Yi Bai's thoughts.

"Grug!" The ghoul behind him made a low, warning sound.

The consultation time was over, and the presence of the visitors wasn't Lina's. This caused the ghoul to become alert.

"Who is it?" Yi Bai's eyes narrowed slightly, a dangerous gleam flashing in the depths of his pupils. His shadow stirred, as if dark tendrils were swirling beneath him.

"It's me." A deep, gravelly voice came from outside the door. "Director He sent me to bring you to deal with a patient."

"Come on out, the patient has a rather bad temper. If we're late, we can't guarantee the consequences."

The voice of the bird-beaked physician joined in, tinged with impatience.

Associates!

The moment the two voices explained their purpose, Yi Bai's mind immediately connected the dots. He Yi, after all, had been secretly scheming in Third Hospital for years. It was unlikely he didn't have a few trustworthy subordinates. Or rather, not necessarily trusted—just people he could manipulate with the right incentives.

"I knew it. I should've figured He Yi was dead by now. But why haven't I received any clues about resolving the Third Hospital crisis? Why am I still stuck cleaning up the trash like this?"

Yi Bai's eyes gleamed with a cold, murderous light, but his body remained still in the chair.

Lina was absent, and the only creature he had by his side was the ghoul, an evil-grade being.

The two ghosts outside, based on their auras, were also evil-grade. This meant Yi Bai would have to handle at least one of them himself.

Thud, thud, thud!

Yi Bai's heart pounded violently in his chest, as if his blood were boiling. Danger was imminent, and his vampire instincts, while keeping him calm, also made him more attuned to the thrill of the fight. His bloodline powers stirred restlessly but were quickly suppressed.

He forced himself to remain calm, his gaze fixed firmly on the door.

"Can you two wait just a moment? I have a small issue to resolve first," Yi Bai said calmly.

As he spoke, his shadow rippled. Four long, shadowy figures silently emerged, moving at an incredible speed to block the door.

Two of them hung upside down from the ceiling, while the other two melded into the shadows by the door, waiting in ambush. Their movements were so quiet that it was as if they were just part of the darkness itself.

"Hmm, what is this nonsense? Director He said you need to..."

The werewolf physician's voice stopped abruptly as he entered. The snarling wolf head, dripping with blood, contorted into a menacing grin. But before he could finish his sentence, his voice cut off completely.

The long, shadowy figures struck without hesitation. They didn't target the werewolf's body, but instead, their elongated claws pierced into his shadow!

The shadow ghosts seemed to possess the ability to bind their enemies through shadows.

The werewolf's sudden pause was caused by this.

At the same time, the two shadow ghosts on the ceiling moved to attack with deadly precision. Their claws, capable of devouring light, shot toward the werewolf's head like black lines.

"Woo-oooh!!"

A deep, powerful wolf's howl echoed from the werewolf physician.

In the face of life-or-death peril, his body began to expand, fur bursting through his lab coat as his size grew.

Behind him, the bird-beaked physician, seeing the danger, reacted immediately. His bird beak mask cracked open, releasing a sickly green mist toward Yi Bai.

"Die!!!"

With an arrow on the string, Yi Bai's body was suddenly covered in magical runes just as the poisonous mist surged toward him.

In a blink, Yi Bai disappeared from his original spot. Instead, a long, dark ghostly figure took his place.

On the ceiling, four Painful Blood Hands appeared around Yi Bai. At his command, two of the blood hands shot toward the bird-beaked physician, while the other two descended on the now massive werewolf.

"Woo-oooh!!"

The werewolf's howl now carried a sharp, piercing quality.

As the blood hands touched the werewolf's fur, they disintegrated into blood, corroding and devouring the creature from the inside.

The once-gray furred werewolf quickly became covered in red, disgusting patches, releasing an eerie and foul smell.

The giant beast began to convulse and writhe on the ground, its fighting spirit completely drained.

Outside the room, the bird-beaked physician, horrified by the sight of the werewolf's defeat, could hardly focus on evading the blood hands.

But just as he was consumed with avoiding the blood hands, the ghoul—who had disappeared after the door had opened—revealed its vicious fangs in the shadows.
