Chapter 261: Domineering and Experiment

_______

Aoki raised his hand, his white palm suddenly turning pitch black.

He swung it around experimentally, feeling as though he was wearing a coat of armor.

In essence, it was just that—a protective layer. Like donning a pair of iron gloves, it enhanced both defense and offensive power, making his hits more devastating.

This was the simplest application of Armament Haki: hardening.

The next level would involve winding, where the Haki extends beyond the user's body. Both techniques were considered basic.

These were the same foundational skills Rayleigh had taught Luffy and Shakky had taught Hancock.

Beyond that lay the advanced technique of making Armament Haki flow freely, allowing it to be projected outward.

At its highest level, it could bypass external defenses entirely, striking and destroying the interior of a target—a skill often described as "hitting the bull from a distance."

However, Aoki's Armament Haki was only at level 1, limiting him to basic hardening.

At this stage, the enhancement to his overall strength was minimal.

The most significant advantage was its ability to counter Logia-type Devil Fruit users. With Armament Haki, even without seastone, he wouldn't be rendered helpless against their intangibility.

"Next is Conqueror's Haki!"

Aoki focused his thoughts.

Boom!

A powerful pressure erupted from him, spreading outward like a storm. Leaves were ripped from branches, which cracked and splintered under the force.

Moments later, the pressure dissipated.

Aoki stood still, stunned.

"Why is it so strong?"

His Conqueror's Haki didn't just exert a mental impact; it physically affected the surroundings, bending reality itself. This was a sign of exceptional power.

But his Conqueror's Haki was only at level 1.

How could it already manifest such strength?

After some thought, Aoki arrived at an answer.

Conqueror's Haki couldn't be cultivated in the traditional sense. It was a reflection of one's willpower and courage, naturally growing stronger as one's overall strength increased.

Now, as a bona fide four-star powerhouse, his Conqueror's Haki was bound to be formidable.

As for the discrepancy between its strength and level, it made sense upon closer examination.

The effectiveness of Haki depended on two factors:

1. Raw Power – The foundational strength of one's Haki, influenced by physical fitness and other attributes.

2. Skill Mastery – Techniques like hardening, entanglement, flow, and advanced foresight.

Raw power determined whether one could learn specific techniques, while skill mastery dictated how effectively they could be applied.

For his Conqueror's Haki, Aoki possessed immense raw power but lacked the skill to control it. He could only release it indiscriminately, unable to differentiate between friend and foe.

This limitation was unique to Conqueror's Haki. His Armament and Observation Haki didn't even possess comparable raw strength at this point.

Still, it was a pleasant surprise.

The sheer force of his Conqueror's Haki made clearing weaker enemies much easier, though it offered little utility in high-level battles for now.

Finally, Aoki turned his attention to his Observation Haki.

Its low level and lack of a suitable target for practice made its effects less immediately apparent compared to Armament and Conqueror's Haki.

"We'll also need to explore techniques to enhance Observation Haki using the powers of the Thunder Fruit," Aoki mused.

He glanced at the system interface.

His attributes were inching closer to triple digits, a milestone of immense significance.

Satisfied, Aoki closed the system interface.

After a moment's thought, he stepped into a different space.

This time, leaving the pirate world wasn't just about visiting friends and family—it was also for important business.

For instance, experimenting to see if it was possible to bring others along during his journeys.

Although Burning Heaven had been established, it was still weak compared to the World Government and the Celestial Dragons, particularly in terms of top-tier power.

The strongest individuals in the pirate world were either already aligned with other forces or had yet to mature, leaving Aoki with no choice but to look to other worlds for reinforcements.

His first stop was the planting area, but the sight that greeted him made his heart sink.

Except for the Miraculous Tree, everything else was dead.

No flowers, plants, fruits, or trees had survived.

A sinking feeling grew in his chest as he turned to check the other side, where several iron cages held rabbits, cattle, sheep, wolves, bears, tigers, leopards, pirates, and other creatures.

Every single one of them was lifeless.

No, not every one.

There was still one survivor—a "Demon."

"Sir, spare me! Please, spare my life!"

The Demon, upon seeing Aoki, immediately fell to its knees, kowtowing frantically.

Just moments ago, all the creatures and people around it had died in an instant, leaving it terrified out of its wits.

"What happened just now?" Aoki asked calmly.

The Demon, trembling, recounted everything without hesitation.

Aoki waved his hand, summoning chains that flew over and bound the Demon. He then carried it out of the alternate space.

"Ah!"

As soon as the Demon saw the sunlight, it screamed and scrambled to hide in the shadows.

Aoki watched it for a few moments before tossing it back into the alternate space. He began to ponder.

"All the plants and animals died. The conclusion is obvious: I can't bring other living beings through the crossing.

But the Demon survived.

Is it because of its unique physiology as a Demon? Or because it's under my control?"

The answer wasn't difficult to uncover. Aoki only needed to travel to another world and conduct further experiments.

However, he glanced at the back of his hand.

Three of the petals had turned from virtual to real, and the once-vivid flower mark now appeared dull and lifeless.

The energy in the mark had been completely depleted.

He would need to wait for it to recharge before attempting another journey.

Lowering his arm, Aoki muttered, "So, where is this place?"

As the thought crossed his mind, he turned to his right.

A girl in a pink kimono with long black hair appeared in his line of sight.

"Mr. Aoki!"

The girl's face lit up with excitement as she ran toward him, stopping to look up at him with shining eyes.

"Mr. Aoki, it really is you! It's been so long!"

Aoki smiled and gently patted her head.

"Nezuko, you've grown up!"

Nezuko Kamado beamed, her eyes curving into crescents as she grabbed his hand and started pulling him along.

"Hehehe, Mr. Aoki, come with me!"

Aoki allowed her to lead him, a faint smile on his face.

He hadn't expected the first person he'd meet upon returning to the Demon Slayer world to be Nezuko.

Compared to when they had last parted, Nezuko had clearly grown, though not by much.

This indicated that some time had passed, but not too long.

The realization brought Aoki a sense of relief.

The flow of time between the worlds wasn't as erratic as he had feared.

As they exited the woods, the scenery opened up before them.

On a stretch of flat land stood a beautiful wooden house, where two teenagers and a woman in a white hat were busy with their tasks.

Nezuko shouted excitedly, "Brother, Mom, look who's here!"

Tanjiro Kamado and Kie Kamado paused their work, looking up in confusion. When they saw Aoki, surprise and joy lit up their faces.

Aoki nodded and greeted them warmly.

"Mrs. Kamado, Tanjiro, long time no see."
