Tian Zai: Heaven's Calamity in a Modern Cultivation World

Chapter 29: Zhi Luan Intervenes

A customer couldn't bear it and shouted.

"Hey! The lady is only doing her job, quit making things difficult for her. If you wanted some green tea and beer, you know exactly where to get them, so why come here?"

The young man in the lead turned his attention to the customer who spoke up, sizing him up. But he wasn't the one to respond, rather another person among the group spoke up,

"I don't remember inviting you to our conversation, or are you desperate for attention?"

Then another one among them spoke up,

"It will be good to mind your business. If you like eating crap, then go enjoy it quietly, or I'll shove it down your throat till you choke on it."

"Hauke!"

The young man in the lead yelled. The one who just spoke instantly went silent.

"We don't threaten innocent people, do we?"

The young man asked in a calm voice.

"No, we do not! Forgive me, boss!"

The young man in the lead nodded at the apology, before turning to the customer.

"If you're just eating here for the first time, then I'll give this grace to sit back down and enjoy your food. As you can see, you're the only one standing."

The customer looked around, and truthfully, everyone remained seated, eating their food, pretending as though nothing was happening. The customer realized that he might have underestimated how dangerous this group was. Seeing that no one was willing to lend a hand, the customer sat back down and blended with the crowd.

The young man in the lead then turned to Yu Lu,

"Yu Lu, you already know how I feel about you, or haven't I made it clear enough?"

"L-Let's not talk about that here…"

"Why not? I did as you asked and gave you space. You didn't call or text me or reply to my messages. I got worried you didn't like me, so I came to find out for myself…"

As he spoke, the young man stood up and walked toward Yu Lu.

"Look at you, working in such a decrepit place for a lousy senile old man who thinks he can boss people around whenever he wants… I'm disappointed in you…"

He then looked around,

"You're right, this is not the best place to talk. Come with me…" he said and reached to grab Yu Lu's hand.

Yu Lu instinctively retracted her hand and took a few steps back, trembling.

Seeing this, the young man's expression darkened.

"We have gone through this before… you can't refuse me. Don't let what happened last time deceive you, because I can promise you that today won't be like that, so I advise you to come quietly, or I'll force you… I'm getting what I want either way…"

As the young man spoke, he moved again toward Yu Lu reaching to grab her, but he suddenly felt someone grip his arm.

Zhi Luan witnessed everything from the counter, but he was too busy with the cash register to bother. No matter how well one ran their business, there were days when trouble was inevitable. He thought this was one of those days, and that if the problem was ignored, it would simply go away, and so he didn't get involved. He simply watched on with a lazy expression, with his hand propping his chin on the counter. However, his patience kept running out when they repeatedly insulted the food, and he drew the line when Yu Lu was about to be harassed.

It might be because everyone secretly paid attention to what was going on with the young man's group, but no one noticed that Zhi Luan was on the move until he got in front of the young man. His long thick hand wrapped around the young man's arm, clamping it in place.

"Refrain from touching our staff…" said Zhi Luan with a cold look and an icy tone.

Zhi Luan was at least a head taller than the young man. It was only natural that a condescending look was cast whether deliberately or not.

"Who the hell are you? I've never seen you here before!"

The young man was shocked.

"That is not your concern. Since your requests are outside what we offer, you might as well leave…"

Now, the young man was enraged.

"I'll teach you a lesson!" he yelled and punched Zhi Luan with his other hand.

The event that unfolded later earned the description 'in the blink of an eye', because the very moment the young man punched out, he was already thrown off balance, and the next thing he knew, his face was touching the floor.

Given the young man's temperament, Zhi Luan had anticipated retaliation from him. So, when he saw his fist coming, he simply parried it to the side and twisted the young man's arm to the back, knocking the young man off his feet and stomping his face when he fell.

The rest of his group witnessed the shocking turn of events and immediately threw a fit.

"You bastard!"

The group was about to charge at Zhi Luan when his voice reached them,

"That will be ill-advised if you don't want him to get hurt. If anyone among you takes a single step, I'll dislodge his shoulder."

Zhi Luan's tone remained icy as before, as he shot them a menacing glare.

Currently, Zhi Luan held the group's leader in a submission hold that could easily twist off his arm if he wanted to.

"Go on, tell them not to do anything foolish or you'll pay the price for it."

Zhi Luan's tone was devoid of emotion, causing the young man to tremble.

Nonetheless, the young man still has to resist, given his rash temperament. But he soon regretted that decision when he heard cracking sounds from his shoulder as it was tilted a little out of order.

"Argh!!!"

The young man screamed at the top of his voice.

"S-Stand back… all of you!!"

He quickly ordered.

At this time, the group was already terrified. To think that Zhi Luan could hurt their boss made them wonder if he truly hadn't heard of them before.

Zhi Luan glared at the group causing them all to tremble. The feeling they got from him was unnatural, as though they had made enemies with someone they shouldn't have. They all shared similar feelings and instinctively took several steps back.
