Timeless Melodies

Chapter 17: The Christmas Party

It was the Headmaster's idea, not mine or anyone.

"It is an annual event in our prestigious school to always have a Christmas party before the school year ends. As such we're having our 100th Christmas party." He announced in the assembly hall. Several groans of annoyance rang throughout the room, really understandable. Considering the fact it's 23rd December and we still haven't vacated. What's wrong with this school? We're to decorate our classrooms, halls, labs, the library. Even the staff room. If the decoration isn't nice, it will be rejected. Translation?: You'll redecorate wherever you were assigned to and failure to do so means you won't go home. They'll literally call your parents and tell them you're spending your Christmas with the school Dean.

"Alright guys, soo what theme are we doing for our class?" Brian asked as he played with his pen, our class rep. And yet he has gotten as many detentions as Luke has gotten.

"Deck the halls?"

"Taken by 2A."

"Jingle bells rock?"

"2F took it."

" Carols of the bells?"

" 3C took it. And if we do try to take it. Vlad and Kristen will really make us regret it." Brian said, shuddering at the mention of the two frenemies. We all groaned in frustration, right. If you take any upperclassman's theme they can punish you. And Vlad isn't really nice in his punishments, I heard he once gave Mila of 1E a toothbrush to scrub every locker in the school with.

"How about Winter Wonderland?" I recommended, already tired of this game. It's already annoying being some gods entertainment but this school definitely takes pleasure in stressing students' lives. Brian looked at me, his sapphire blue eyes lost in thought.

"That's a good theme. And I don't think any class has taken it. Alright, Winter Wonderland it is then." He said, the class sighed in relief when suddenly Mimi entered. Her brown hair tied in a messy bun while her glasses nearly slid of her nose.

"Hi guys, have you decided on a theme?" Mimi chirped happily. Brian rolled his eyes half annoyed and half amused.

"Yea, and we did it without our lead decorater. Where were you?" He asked. Mimi playfully ruffled his white hair.

"Bringing you guys bad news." She said, her peach eyes looking at the class. "They've spilt classrooms to go and decorate the school and we're decorating the cafeteria with 2A." She added. There was an uproar in the class, many protesting heard.

"Then when will we get time for our classroom?! This is totally unfair!" The class yelled. I covered my ears to block out their ear piercing screams, for a class filled with children of rich people they sure do know how to make noise. I turned to look at Luke who was asleep with his earphones blocked in, I found myself unconsciously smiling at him, he looked cute like that. His brown hair ruffled as he was still in perfect slumber.

"I have a solution." Brian said finally silencing the noisy class. "We only need like ten people to decorate the class and we're 26 in this class so Mimi plus nine more people will stay here while the remaining sixteen of us will go to the cafeteria." Brian said, sounds of agreement were heard through the room, Luke was picked for those staying in the class while I was picked for those who would help in arranging the cafeteria. Luke wanted to protest but one death glare from Brian shut him up.

"Why does Luke like hanging around you?" Lisa asked as she adjusted her glasses, her hazel eyes sparkling with interest.

"I don't know, we're friends so I guess that's why." I explained. Brian bit back a laugh.

"That's a lie." Brian said as he stared at me. "He likes you." I stared at him questioning. He looked at me again and laughed.

"Haven't you seen how he looks at you, how he pouts when you're not around him." Brian asked. Lisa started twirling her black hair in her finger as she hummed in agreement.

"How he always zones out in class, he's thinking about you. How he always wants to hold your hand or cuddle with you. How he always smiles around you. Bro's in love~" Lisa stated, I felt my cheeks burn at both Lisa and Brian's observations, I mean I knew he treated me different than everyone else. And I know he really loves my company, I still remember the first day he held my hand. He seemed hestiant at first but he still put his hand on mine and squeezed it. I felt fuzzy when he held it.

"Finally, you guys are here!" A male with dark blue hair and lavender eyes said in relief, we look at Josh. The 2-A class rep, behind him were several sounds of tape being opened, tables being dragged and some few occasional shouts and yelps.

"So how can we help?" Lisa asked, Josh pointed to the back which was still dusty and undecorated.

"We're almost done so you guys just have to clean that side up. Jayden will supervise." Josh said, as soon as he said that, Jayden materialized right behind him. Jayden just simply nodded as he worked towards our working area, Lisa said I should go and help the others there.

"Wow I guess Luke was right about you saying housework is your hobby. You're cleaning better than the rest of your classmates." Jayden commented as I moped the ground, it's just moping not even scrubbing.

"It's not that big of a deal. It's just moping." I commented as I continued, Jayden laughed at my remark before pointing to a part of the floor.

"You missed a spot." He commented, I mopped the area before continuing. After a while Jayden pointed to the same place and said I didn't mop there well enough. So I mopped there again, he did it again five more times. Annoyed I tried to use the mop to hit his head but I slipped and fell on him. Our faces were just inches apart.

"What are you staring at?" I asked when I noticed his dark blue eyes staring at my face.

"Your eyes are pretty." He said. Ok, that was unexpected. Especially from the introverted gamer pianist who still keeps disappearing from his room at night, sometimes I want to follow him but I remembered his last rule: Don't look for me when I disappear.

"Well this is interesting." Lisa said as she passed by. I quickly got of Jayden and mumbled some sort of apology.

"Hey Jade." Jayden called out to me when we finished cleaning and decorating. I turned to face him.

"Starting from next year we should hang out more."
