LIGHTNOVELWORLD Chapter 3: My First Cards!
'Thank god I found a good guy! He's pretty weird though...But he's better than those teens who just stood there and watched me.' While I wait for him to pay I idly look around and spot in the corner of my eye a small box, open and showing its contents. 'Is that?'
Looking closer I see pack of cards all in the same box of "Duel Monsters- Story Of The Red Desert."
Taking out of the packs from the box I look it over, on the front it shows a lagre purple elephant standing on two legs covered in clothes that are ancient egyptain in style, it holds a large golden simitar in its hand.
'With everyting that happened I forgot that this is duel monsters..' While I'm looking over the pack the man calls out to me. "Is this all your getting? You can get more if you want....Oh?"
The man comes over to me and while I go to put the pack down he picks up one himself. "These are the Duel Monster cards that have been floating around huh? Are you interested in some? Like I said I've got some money to spend. How many are need to play?"
The man turns back and shouts something towards the clerk and he responds in kind after a second of thought. "Only 40 huh? With these that's....12 cards a pack which means for the both of us 7 packs only? Hmm, I could do that! Hey kid? Do you want to play with these?"
'Your a little weird but thanks for making it so that I don't have to shyly ask!' Nodding at him he grabs 5 more packs after some deliberation and goes back over to the clerk. Walking with him not only does he pay for my meal and drink but also pick up the 7 packs.
Exiting the store he hands me the bag containing my food and the cards and points over to one of the three tables outside. "If you want you can eat here and after we eat we can open up the packs. Plus he gave us a little slip apparently its the rules of the game so we can play a match."
"t-thank you! I really needed it and you didn't need to help, I'll definitely pay you back one day!" The man seems surprised at my statement as the quiet kid he's helping out suddenly annouces his gratitude. "Ah. Your welcome! Anyday really I've been needing to spend some time doing something fun and this seems like the perfect opprotunity."
The man leads me over to the table with a smile on my face and sits down, pulling out a couple of the snacks he bought and his instant ramen he begins to eat. 'I've got to eat my fill, he said he comes here often but I can't be pick on food even if this is fermented horse ass I've got to eat it.'
Opening the white packaging I take a bite out of one of the 5 rice balls getting a nice helping of chicken and what looks like carrot and onion. 'Not bad! At least I get to try some food from Japan it was always on my bucket list to visit here one day. I guess I should check that one off the list!'
Laughing mentally I start chowing down on the rice balls eating three before I open my drink which some type of milk from the look of it. 'Is this the fabled banana milk? I've only heard of this through the veil of anime!'
Drinking this eagerly it tastes...Pretty great! 'Finally somewhere that actually gets the taste of banana right! Not none of the powerful flavor that's way too strong!' Apparently my happiness is easy to see as the man comments on it. "You look like your enjoying it!"
Stopping in my tracks I pull myself back as I feel the blush creep onto my cheeks though its probably hidden my the redness in my face due to the cold. "Don't worry! Keep going!"
"U-um Sir? I was wondering if we could open the cards now.."
"Stop calling my sir just call me Hara calling me Sir makes me feel old." Nodding with him as he continues. "And we can open em' if you'd like I'm about finished with my food anyway."
Pulling out all seven of the pack he bought we tore them open one at a time to reveal a total of 84 cards.
