Chapter 7: Shopping!
We end up reaching this little shop only 15 or so minutes from the 7/11. The shop is quite small with old and slightly dirty white paint covering the front, a wooden sign is loosely hanging that has a couple of characters colored in a nice sunny yellow.
Hara turns to me after looking over the shop similarly to how I did. "Here we are! Now I heard that you can mostly understand Japanese now so I'll stop talking in English but if you need my help understanding anything just ask!"
Nodding in response Hara leads me into the small shop and upon entering a woman in a yellow puffy coat yells something aftering hearing the door bell ring. "I'll be with you in a second!"
"No need Meiko! I'm here with the kid I told you about!" Hara shoats back in a friend tone and starts to look over the clothing racks close to the door.
I hear ruffling and shuffling in response as a woman comes out from a door in the back of the store. "If its the kid you've been talking about I need to see them!" The woman is quite small and also decently attractive with the quote on quote normal Japanese features and long black hair falling to her mid back.
"Your so cute!!!" She rushes over in excitement and pinches my cheeks while looking me over. "Hey! Be careful you gonna hurt him ya monkey!" Hara comes over and separates her from me before my cheeks can turn completely red from her pinches.
The woman Hara called Meiko turns to him and opens her mouth as to argue but I quickly intercept. "I-it's fine.." After my timid response Meiko only gets more excited as she comes back over and continues to dote on me.
'Step one complete! Gain the pity and absolute adoration of whoever ones the store using my cuteness. Next flash my ruined clothes and convince her to give it to me for free!'
Hara just shakes his head at her antics and says. "Listen I'm trying to get him some new clothes and your the easiest place to find clothes that might fit him. Don't you have the old clothes of your nephew?"
In response Meiko scowls at him slightly before turning back at me and speaking. "Those were only if he was a brat! Now that I see how much of a cutie he is, how dare you even suggest him getting anything but the best!"
I see out of the corner out of my eye that Hara rolles his eyes before looking back at the clothes. "I'm just gonna grab some stuff then!" Meiko doesn't seem to care and just nods uninterestedly.
"How old are you? You've still got a ton of baby fat in your face so you must be pretty young." Meiko suddenly speaks to me as she pinches my cheek. "I'm 6! I think my birthday was only a couple weeks ago?"
She nods at my response and starts rubbing and examining my clothes. "I thought so, your clothes aren't that dirty but your still pretty dirty. Hara said that those teenagers you've been with let you clean yourself using their little bathroom right?"
Nodding once again she tells me to open my mouth before running her hands through my hair. "Good, but your gonna need a good bath soon." She turns away slightly before speaking in a low voice. "I don't-----Hara---just------you"
'What did she just say?' "Anyway I think Hara should've chosen some good clothes for you by now! Also I'll get you some tooth paste and a tooth brush you can use the bathroom in your little hangout room to brush your teeth."
Nodding at her she walks me over to the counter where Hara is waiting while looking between two pairs of shoes. "Hey! Which one of these do you like more I got you a pair of boots but your gonna need some shoes for the summer."
Looking between the two I chose the black and green shoes compared to the red and blue ones. "I just realized that I don't know your name, do you know your name? I know you don't know who your parents are and everything bu-"
Before Hara can continue to speak Meiko smacks the back of his head to assumingly protect my feelings as talking to an assumed orphan about his parents isn't the best to keep them in good spirits.
"What he ment to say was do you know your name its important for something he needs to do!" Meiko shoots him a strong glare before turning to me and trying to distract me with a toy car.
'Seeing how people act near children will always be funny.'
