Transmigrated And Became An Omega [ABO]

Chapter 29: 29

On the first day of the competition, Shi Yue didn't rush to start designing her costume. She spent the entire afternoon searching online, not only reviewing M.Crush's highly praised costumes from this year but also briefly studying the preferences of the seven members of M.Crush.

As evening approached, a staff member notified Shi Yue via phone that dinner was ready. She stretched her tired body, turned off her tablet, and headed downstairs.

In the first-floor living room, only Zhou Leya was present. Hearing Shi Yue coming down, Zhou Leya glanced at her, and the two exchanged a brief nod as a greeting. The quietness of the living room made Shi Yue want to ask where everyone else was, but the noise coming from the nearby workshop answered her question.

Shi Yue walked to the door of the workshop and saw through a slight gap that the other contestants were all gathered inside.

"Isn't this cheongsam design from the second-place work today?" one of the five designers gathered around a mannequin commented, looking at a costume that was just starting to take shape.

Another designer, holding some fabric, glanced at Shi Fang and remarked, "I remember you didn't place second today, right?"

Shi Fang raised her chin and declared loudly, "My design draft today was also a cheongsam style. It has nothing to do with the second-place winner."

The other designer was startled by her confident tone, twitched her lips, and said nothing more.

A male designer beside them complimented, "I think your work looks great. Even though it's just a prototype, M.Crush has already proven that they like the cheongsam style. If you follow through with your idea, your ranking won't be low."

Shi Fang was pleased. "That's what I think too. My design concept is…"

As she was speaking, her eyes caught sight of Shi Yue standing outside the door, and she abruptly stopped. But then she puffed out her chest even more and raised her voice, "Ahem, anyway, my design is a cheongsam performance outfit. It's my own inspiration."

Shi Yue looked at her, clearly seeing through her guilty conscience despite her confident façade. With a cold smile, she turned and left. At the dining table, Zhou Leya had already started eating alone. Seeing Shi Yue approach, Zhou Leya nonchalantly remarked, "She's been tinkering in the workshop all afternoon, using the same materials you had in your design draft from earlier."

"Is that so?" Shi Yue smiled, picking up a delicious-looking sandwich and grabbing a bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice. "Thanks for letting me know. If she likes the cheongsam style, she can have it. It's just something I've already played with."

Zhou Leya raised an eyebrow. "Seems like you don't mind?"

Shi Yue smirked and replied casually, "Would you choose a design that's already failed once?"

Zhou Leya didn't answer directly, but the admiration in her eyes made her real thoughts clear. Although they had only exchanged a few words, Shi Yue felt that this person matched her own temperament quite well. After selecting her dinner, Shi Yue said goodbye and headed upstairs alone.

In the living room, she passed by the group of five as they exited the workshop.

Shi Fang glared at her warily, but Shi Yue ignored her completely.

The first day passed quickly. However, after that, the seven people in the villa, including Shi Yue herself, were no longer as composed. One week might not be short, but it wasn't a lot of time either, and everyone began working intensely on their competition pieces.

High-profile designers like Shi Fang couldn't wait to showcase their work to the cameras, reporting their progress daily. Meanwhile, others chose to keep their designs confidential, revealing nothing.

Perhaps feeling that such a routine was becoming too mundane, the event organizers brought M.Crush back on the fourth day to add some excitement.

By this point, everyone's costumes had taken shape. M.Crush's visit was to review the works and provide feedback.

As soon as KK entered the workshop, her eyes lit up, and she rushed to the three cheongsams, exclaiming to the camera, "I love this! I didn't expect the designer to make the costume from the draft so quickly. I'm so happy!"

She admired the short cheongsam and couldn't hide her anticipation. "I can't wait to try it on!"

Shi Fang stepped over, her smile beaming. "I'm glad you like my work."

KK looked startled when she saw her.

Scanning the room for Shi Yue, KK found her standing at the back and hesitantly looked at Shi Fang. "Um… I thought you weren't the one who designed the cheongsam…"

Shi Fang replied, "My original design draft was also a cheongsam. These three are refined versions of that concept."

KK took another look at the cheongsams. This time, she noticed that while the designs were similar to the second-place work, there were indeed many differences in the details. Since the cheongsam is a basic design that anyone can work with, there wasn't much to critique.

Somewhat reluctantly, KK nodded. "Sorry, I must have remembered wrong. Your design is great, and I'm really looking forward to it."

Shi Fang's confidence soared. "Give me a few more days, and the final look will surely amaze everyone."

Because of the earlier misunderstanding, KK only gave a polite smile in response and wasn't as excited as before.

Afterward, under the host's guidance, they reviewed all the works.

Before leaving, KK approached Shi Yue and extended an invitation, "Shi Yue, want to grab a drink at a nearby bar tonight?"

Shi Yue was taken aback. "Uh, I can't leave during the competition. Sorry."

KK shook her head. "I checked with the staff. Going out for some one-on-one time with us counts as part of the competition, as long as we agree. Hehe, I just want to hang out with you."

Shi Yue asked, "Just the two of us?"

"Of course not." KK winked. "9:30 tonight at Miss Bar. See you there!"

Since KK had extended the invitation so openly, and Shi Yue wasn't short on work time, she accepted the offer. Later that night, when she arrived at the bar, she found three people waiting—KK, the lively one, Mu Zhou, the cool one, and Xi Chuan Yu, the leader.

KK greeted her loudly, and the people around seemed used to it, not reacting to the fact that they were members of a popular group. Shi Yue later learned that Miss Bar was a members-only establishment owned by Xi Chuan Yu, and the clientele weren't ordinary people.

"Good evening." Shi Yue greeted the trio as she approached.

KK pulled her down to sit, pouting, "Shi Yue, why did you abandon the three cheongsams? I was waiting for you to complete them."

Shi Yue explained helplessly, "Because I had a better idea."

"But…" KK frowned, "Those three costumes you showed today… Honestly, they were pretty average compared to your original cheongsam designs."

Shi Yue took the cocktail Xi Chuan Yu handed her, softly thanked her, and then said to KK, "The materials I'm using need to be custom-made and will arrive tomorrow."

KK, however, seemed oblivious, staring playfully at the cocktail before giggling. "Captain, you're being so thoughtful tonight. I've never had you serve me a drink."

Mu Zhou gently tugged on KK to bring the conversation back on track and said to Shi Yue, "Actually, we can already see your creativity in today's designs. We look forward to seeing the final result."

Shi Yue nodded, "Thank you."

At this point, Xi Chuan Yu asked, "You and Shi Fang… are you close?"

Shi Yue sensed that Xi Chuan Yu had caught onto something and didn't try to hide it. "She's my cousin."

"So, you've been giving her guidance?" Xi Chuan Yu sipped her drink, "I don't know much about your industry, but her works seem to carry your influence."

Shi Yue shook her head with a smile. "This is a competition. I wouldn't guide her. Strictly speaking, it's more like she borrowed inspiration."

Shi Yue knew exactly what was going on. On the first day in the villa, Shi Fang had seen her design draft and then copied the cheongsam idea. But Shi Fang was smart enough to avoid all the points that would be considered plagiarism. Even if Shi Yue wanted to make an issue out of it, there wasn't much she could do.

Not wanting to dwell on it any further, Shi Yue chose to watch from the sidelines. She knew Shi Fang would eventually face the consequences of her actions.

KK frowned upon hearing this. "She's so shameless…"

Shi Yue didn't respond, only offering a faint smile.

"Whatever." KK leaned in closer. "You've been working hard these past few days. Take tonight to relax and unwind! Rest up so you can finish your design!"

Shi Yue raised her glass, and the four of them clinked glasses amidst the flickering lights.

Originally, she had planned to leave after a couple of drinks, but Shi Yue underestimated the strength of the cocktails. By the time she realized she needed to go back, her body was already moving to the rhythm of the music with KK and Mu Zhou. She knew she should rest, but a voice inside kept tempting her—

Just a little longer, just a little more fun!

By the time midnight rolled around, Xi Chuan Yu had to pull the three of them off the dance floor. Shi Yue was so drunk that she could barely walk straight. The bar's staff were familiar with KK and Mu Zhou, and Xi Chuan Yu quickly arranged for them to be taken care of. However, looking at Shi Yue sprawled on the sofa, she found herself in a bit of a dilemma.

"Should I book you a room to rest?" Xi Chuan Yu whispered in her ear.

Shi Yue turned her head, avoiding Xi Chuan Yu's breath on her ear. "I… I need to go back."

"Can you even make it back?" Xi Chuan Yu chuckled.

Stubbornly, Shi Yue stood up, swaying as she insisted, "I can!" She grabbed her purse and headed for the exit.

Xi Chuan Yu couldn't let her leave alone, so she sighed and grabbed her car keys. "I'll take you back."

Shi Yue cooperatively got into the car. The villa wasn't far, and within two or three minutes, Xi Chuan Yu had parked outside. After saying goodbye, Shi Yue was about to head inside, but Xi Chuan Yu insisted on escorting her to her room.

She didn't know which room Shi Yue was staying in. When they reached the second floor and saw four closed doors, Xi Chuan Yu was at a loss.

Just as she was about to ask, one of the doors opened, and Shen Lingling stepped out.

Seeing them, Shen Lingling looked surprised, but she answered Xi Chuan Yu's inquiry responsibly, "I think she stays in the room on the third floor, at the very end."

"Thank you," Xi Chuan Yu replied.

"Can I ask… did you two go out drinking? Is she… is she okay?" Shen Lingling asked again.

The hallway was dimly lit, with only the light from Shen Lingling's room spilling out. In the darkness, Xi Chuan Yu couldn't clearly see Shen Lingling's expression. Wanting to get Shi Yue to her room quickly, she simply replied, "Yes."

When they finally reached the third floor, just outside the room at the very end, Shi Yue's phone suddenly rang. She glanced at the screen and mumbled, "Auntie," but accidentally hung up.

Confused about why the call ended, she waved her phone in frustration and pouted. "Huh? Where… where did it go?"

Xi Chuan Yu found her actions amusing.

"Who knew this little designer could be so cute?"

Shi Yue looked at her, her thoughts seemingly tangled. "Who are you? How do you know… know I'm a designer?"

Xi Chuan Yu helplessly poked her forehead. "You little drunkard, I shouldn't have let you have alcohol." She sighed softly and muttered to herself, "Next time, I'll just give you juice."

At that moment, Shi Yue's eyes lit up, and her professional instincts kicked in. "You're tall… so perfect to be a model!" She grabbed Xi Chuan Yu's arm. "Miss, are you interested in being a part-time model? I can pay you well."

Before Xi Chuan Yu became famous, she had worked as a photo model, and her candid photos had gone viral online. But ever since she became the most popular member of her group, no one could convince her to model for them again.

She thought Shi Yue was teasing her on purpose, so she leaned closer and whispered in a sultry voice, "How about I be your exclusive model?"

Shi Yue, though drunk, sensed the ambiguity in her tone and instinctively tried to back away.

But Xi Chuan Yu thought she was just unsteady and held onto her wrist, reaching out to touch her face.

Just then, the door beside them clicked open.

Xi Chuan Yu didn't expect anyone to be there, and her hand froze midair. The lighting was dim, and before she could make out the figure, Shi Yue was already pulled away by the person.

Xi Chuan Yu frowned and demanded, "What are you doing?"

Leng Yanmi glanced at the intoxicated Shi Yue, then looked at Xi Chuan Yu and said coldly, "Thank you for bringing her back."

An overwhelming sense of pressure surged through the air—a warning only Alphas would recognize.

Xi Chuan Yu couldn't quite place who this person was, but her instincts told her the situation felt familiar, and it would be best to leave now.

However, Leng Yanmi acted faster.

Before Xi Chuan Yu could respond, Leng Yanmi scooped Shi Yue into her arms, carried her into the room, and closed the door in Xi Chuan Yu's face.

Shi Yue caught a faint scent of tea, and it felt like she was floating on clouds before being placed onto a familiar bed.

The room lights came on, and Shi Yue rubbed her temples, trying to make sense of what was happening. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself staring at a very angry-looking Leng Yanmi.

Emboldened by the alcohol, Shi Yue didn't feel afraid. She even reached out and pinched Leng Yanmi's cheek.

"Huh?" The soft sensation puzzled her, and Shi Yue muttered to herself, "Why does this dream feel so real?"

Then, she let out a big, alcohol-induced burp.
