Travelling through the interstellar world, starting with the real and fake daughter

Chapter 207 - Spaceship 1

Mai Dongzi and Zhuang Huaiya traveled to the Third Army Group on a regular spaceship.

The cousins bought tickets for a two-bedroom cabin, complete with two sleeping quarters and two cultivation rooms. While the ticket price was expensive, it was well worth it.

At Zhuang Huaiya’s current cultivation level, he was just an outstanding young man. His status and cultivation didn’t require any concealment.

Mai Dongzi, however, had gained some attention on the star network, and cultivators generally had excellent memory.

To avoid being recognized and causing any trouble, she used her versatile makeup skills and then suppressed her cultivation with her psychic power, making others believe she was just a mid-level 5 cultivator.

If anyone inquired about their identities, they were instructed to say that they were university students traveling during their vacation.

Zhuang Huaiya didn’t have any bodyguards, and after consulting with General Su, Mai Dongzi also chose not to bring any bodyguards.

After the incident with the human bomb in the Central Forest of Imperial Capital Star, Mai Dongzi felt that having Su’s bodyguard follow her would make it easier to expose her identity. Moreover, with her current cultivation slightly higher than Su’s bodyguard, she wasn’t worried about anyone under level 8 being able to harm her.

Now that the assassination bounty had been removed, and with no more interests involved, the assassin organizations would no longer be targeting Mai Dongzi. It was much safer for her to go out.

The spaceship that the cousins were on was heading directly to Planet B. Upon arrival, General Su would send someone to escort them to the Third Army Group.

Mai Dongzi had never had the “I don’t stir up trouble, but trouble always finds me” protagonist halo. She believed that as long as they stayed in their cabin and cultivated during the flight, avoiding walking around and causing trouble, they would safely reach their destination.

However, as soon as they boarded the spaceship, Mai Dongzi frowned, sensing something unusual.

She then used her psychic power to “scan” the spaceship’s hall, eventually focusing her “sight” on a group of people.

The group consisted of over twenty people, and based on their clothing, they appeared to be a mercenary squad. The leader was likely the highest-ranking martial artist in the group, a level 6 cultivator, with six others at level 5.

To Mai Dongzi and Zhuang Huaiya, this group seemed weak in terms of strength. However, on a civilian spaceship, a level 6 martial artist was already quite rare.

As a result, everyone who passed by the mercenary group was cautious not to get too close.

Mai Dongzi noticed that the leader of the mercenary group was staring intently at Zhuang Huaiya, but she couldn’t tell what his gaze meant.

After Mai Dongzi and Zhuang Huaiya walked further away, the man followed them, clearly trying to figure out which private room they were in.

Mai Dongzi didn’t know why the man was focusing on Zhuang Huaiya, but since he was following them, it was obvious that he didn’t have good intentions.

Since this was a civilian spaceship with over ten thousand passengers, Mai Dongzi didn’t want the man to know where their room was in case it caused any trouble. She used a subtle psychic suggestion, and the man followed a middle-aged couple with bodyguards instead.

Although the middle-aged couple only had level 3 or 4 cultivation, their two bodyguards were level 6, so they weren’t afraid of the mercenary leader.

The cousins found their room, and Zhuang Huaiya was still unaware of what had just happened.

As if it had been planned, as soon as they entered their room, they received a message from Wang Yiyi asking if they had boarded the spaceship. Zhuang Huaiya began taking photos to show her.

Ever since Mai Dongzi found out about Zhuang Huaiya’s relationship with Wang Yiyi, she had been frequently forced to “eat dog food” (witness their affection).

Mai Dongzi glanced at her cousin’s face, then silently looked away. Although he was handsome, he was only of average attractiveness—not enough to make anyone develop improper intentions at first sight.

As for beauty, although Mai Dongzi had slightly reduced her appearance when she applied her makeup, she was still more handsome than Zhuang Huaiya, and besides, she was a woman.

In the era of interstellar travel, heterosexuality was still the mainstream. Although homosexuality wasn’t as difficult to accept as it had been during the era of Water Blue Star, non-mainstream preferences still attracted the attention of most people.

However, the man only glanced at Mai Dongzi once, and his attention remained focused on Zhuang Huaiya, as he looked him up and down, studying his back.

Since Mai Dongzi couldn’t figure out what the man’s intentions were, she decided to tell Zhuang Huaiya about the situation, advising him to be careful.

The cousins had originally planned to stay in their room and cultivate during the five-day journey.

After Mai Dongzi helped Zhuang Huaiya awaken his wood-based ability when they returned from training, he excitedly used most of his credits to exchange for a wood-based cultivation manual in the Imperial Capital University library network.

After a month of cultivation, with the aid of energy potions, his ability had already reached the peak of level zero.

Therefore, Zhuang Huaiya wanted to take advantage of this journey to enter a small retreat and advance his wood ability to level one. From his cousin, he knew how beneficial the wood ability could be.

Once it reached level one, the wood ability would allow him to heal minor injuries, at the very least, stop bleeding.

Even with low cultivation, if he got injured and didn’t have healing potions, his self-healing ability would be faster than others by one or two times, thanks to his wood-based power.

Focused on his cultivation, Zhuang Huaiya quickly forgot about the man following him.

Mai Dongzi, however, did not forget about it. She continued to subtly release her psychic power, “watching” the hallway outside the room.

The first and second days passed without incident, but by the third day, someone started walking by the hallway from time to time.

As these people passed by, their eyes were constantly scanning the private room where Mai Dongzi was staying, as well as the one next door, clearly wanting to enter and take a look.

After several of them appeared in the hallway for the second time, Mai Dongzi confirmed that these people were indeed from the mercenary group.

Mai Dongzi thought for a moment. There were five private rooms along this hallway, and aside from hers and Zhuang Huaiya’s, as well as the room next door, the people in the other three rooms had all gone out in the past couple of days.

So, these people must have gotten some useful clue from somewhere to have found their way here.

Using her psychic power, Mai Dongzi had already “scanned” and knew that the room next to hers was occupied by two male military academy students, second-year students from the Blue-Black Empire’s top military academy.

Though Mai Dongzi only “glanced” for a moment and then retracted her psychic power—since they weren’t her enemies, she didn’t want to invade their privacy—based on their identities and the final destination of the spaceship, Mai Dongzi suspected that these two military academy students were also headed to the Third Army Group.

Since it was the time of year for university students in the Blue-Black Empire to have a long vacation, many of them sought out opportunities for training, and military academy students almost all went to the military.

After noticing that someone was spying on their two rooms, Mai Dongzi “looked” again at the neighboring private room.

She realized that the reason the two military students had stayed in their room and hadn’t gone out was similar to Zhuang Huaiya’s situation.

One of the students had just been promoted and was staying in the cultivation room to meditate and consolidate his cultivation.

The other student, being a cultivation enthusiast, was also madly practicing, following his friend’s example of secluding himself.
