Chapter 5: Marriage Will Last Exactly A Year
When the waiter brought champagne, Amelia allowed herself to drink a single glass to calm her nerves. Alex is not just a werewolf, he is an alpha. He can get very angry at her behavior and then nothing will save her. But the risk is worth it, she needs to get access to money at all costs, and this, unfortunately, is only possible through marriage to him.
The marriage, as stated in the will, must be concluded within six months after its announcement. Almost half a year has passed and in ten days its deadline will end. In addition, they must not only officially become a couple, but live a whole year as a family. This is what she was afraid of. Amelia was not going to sleep with Alex. He contemptuously rejected her in the past, and who knows if he will reject her again.
The girl slowly finished her glass when a young werewolf entered the room. Judging by his appearance, he was extremely displeased and angry. The man narrowed his light brown eyes, in which molten gold blazed in flashes, and exhaled heavily.
"What the hell, Amelia? Is there no place in the entire universe to get a drink other than in my room?" he asked, untying the noose around his neck called a tie.
"Celebrating our engagement, dear!" the girl smiled and saluted with her glass.
Alex froze, still holding his tie around his neck.
"What did you say?" he asked the werewolf slowly and threateningly.
His whole body was tense. One wrong move or word and the girl would have a hard time. His anger grew exponentially, while she watched the young wolf warily.
"The press is already aware of the upcoming events," the young girl said, putting her empty glass on the bedside table. "I gave them an exclusive interview. All we need is a joint confirmation."
Amelia turned to Alex and looked straight into his eyes. Yes, she was taking a risk now, and a big one. She dared to challenge the Alpha. But she was put in a dead-end situation.
Having overcome the instinctive desire to run away, thus giving him a reason to hunt, the girl gave him a defiantly impudent look and barely audibly whispered:
"If you drive me away now, then I will dedicate the journalists and those werewolves who live on the border with the northern wolves, to the terms of your grandfather's will. Do you think they will like the truth about you, Alex?"
The man was furious. This was indicated by his elongated packs and animal growl.
"You are a naughty girl! How dare you tell me what to do! Me! The Alpha!"
Amelia did not blink an eye at these words, although she was very scared. If he did not kill her now, then later. Having calmed down a little, she sat down on the bed and stretched out her legs with pleasure.
Alex, seeing how the girl was openly mocking him, could not stand it and angrily threw a bottle of sparkling drink at the wall. Some of the champagne spilled on the girl's dress, causing it to become covered in dirty stains.
"You bastard!" Amelia screamed, looking into the wolf's eyes and trying to shake the drops off the fabric. "You ruined my new dress!"
"Get out!" he growled through his teeth, pointing his hand at the door. "Don't let your foot in here again! Otherwise, I will personally throw you out not only from my room, but from the hotel!"
The young girl was prepared for the fact that they could take her out of the penthouse, so without wasting a minute, she shook her head and put her hands behind her back, reaching for the secret lock. She knew that Alex would not dare to throw her out without a dress.
"What are you going to do?" he growled, hearing the movement of the zipper slider.
But the girl remained silent. Unbuttoning her dress completely, she pulled the wet fabric off and threw it aside, standing before the alpha in black lace lingerie, stockings, and high-heeled shoes.
"I'm going to shower," the girl said as slowly as possible, lifting her chin. "When I'm freshened up, we'll publicly celebrate our engagement."
Alex stood there, breathing heavily and unable to take his eyes off the slender, attractive body. Only his eyes were full of anger, and he was about to break loose. Amelia had never seen him in such a state, but it was too late to retreat. She knew that she was walking on the edge of a knife, that she was risking herself. It had happened often. And so it was now.
"You won't get away with this, Amelia," he warned the girl. "You won't be able to fool me!"
"What a temperament, but in the right direction! You'd be priceless, my dear!" the young she-wolf said and walked with a swaying gait into the bathroom.
Alex exhaled loudly. He was beside himself with anger, but he realized that the girl was right - there was no point in delaying the official announcement of marriage. The noise near the bathroom door caught his attention and before he could take a step, the door swung open again, revealing a half-naked girl.
"And one more thing, my dear. Our marriage will last exactly a year and no more. As soon as I get my money, we can separate."
With these words, she slammed the door, not giving him a chance to get a word in. Amelia herself had just voiced the conditions that he wanted to present to the girl. It would be even better if she understood the whole background of the current situation. There would be no need to waste time and patience to separate amicably.
Alex clenched and unclenched his fists a couple of times in an attempt to calm down. Marrying Amelia was the worst possible scenario. And the worst thing was that he knew perfectly well that there was no guarantee that the girl would not cheat on him. After all, she had voiced this condition herself - no mark, which meant that they would not have a couple that would exclude any affair.
