Chapter 5: 5 Get You Whatever You Want
Olivia had initially wanted to buy a pair of shoes, but since the beasts disliked wearing shoes, no one sold such items.
Feeling helpless, Olivia could only consider making a pair of shoes herself.
To make shoes, she needed needles and thread, and thankfully, someone did sell those.
Olivia hesitated as she looked at them.
She had no money, so she would have to ask Andrew to pay, but Andrew had already bought her two sets of skirts. She felt awkward asking him to spend more.
Andrew understood and then bought her a complete set of needles and thread.
"Just tell me what you want. I have coins."
Olivia blushed, "Thank you and I will earn money to pay you back someday."
"You are my mate. Just tell me, I will get whatever you want for you."
His words made Olivia feel so warm and moved that she wanted to cry.
How she had desperately wanted a family! But the death of her grandma made her bury this desire deep within her heart.
Now, though, this beast man in front of her had awakened the longing.
She really wanted a family so badly.
Andrew saw Olivia's tears, and he became quite worried, "Are you unhappy? Or did I do something wrong? Tell me, I will fix my error!"
He got so nervous. He wanted to comfort her but was afraid to make her cry, so he could only anxiously circle around her.
Olivia wiped her eyes and shyly smiled, "I'm just too happy."
"Happy?" Andrew didn't understand why she would be happy but wanted to cry.
Olivia held his hand, "I'm really happy because I have a family now."
After shopping, the sun was about to set.
Bert sent someone to invite Andrew and Olivia, but Andrew declined.
He knew what Bert was up to.
Males always outnumber females in this world.
To reproduce, each female was surrounded by many male mates.
Even so, many young males still couldn't find a female mate.
The werewolf tribe had a large population with over 600 males, but there were only 20 females. Every female was incredibly precious.
Bert wanted Olivia to stay and choose a few suitable young males from the werewolf tribe as mates.
At the thought of other males sharing Olivia with him, Andrew became furious.
Olivia was his sole mate, he would never share her with anyone!
Andrew carried Olivia away from the mountain and found a cave nearby.
He laid down a thick layer of dried grass and leaves on the ground to make a comfortable bed and placed Olivia on it.
"I'm going to hunt nearby. I'll be back soon. It's dangerous outside, so stay here and don't leave."
Andrew intentionally blocked the cave entrance with a large stone to prevent anyone from seeing Olivia, and only then did he reluctantly leave.
Olivia took out the fire starter.
She gathered some dry branches and carefully lit them on fire.
The flame appeared!
Olivia basked in the warmth she had missed a lot, and she broke into a delighted smile.
With the light of the fire, she began to flip through the parchment scroll.
The first few pages of the scroll introduced the basic conditions of this beast world, with a particular emphasis on two points.
One was the beasts, and the other was the females.
There were various kinds of beasts here. Werewolf packs were one of the most powerful among all.
Werewolves evolved from wolves, and werewolves had different levels of combat power.
As for females, they were very rarer here, responsible for reproducing offspring.
Their numbers were too few, and in order to better reproduce offspring, each female would have many male mates.
Upon reading this and recalling Doctor Bert's words to Andrew, Olivia was quite surprised.
She didn't expect that this world still practiced a system of one wife and multiple husbands.
She continued to flip through the scroll and found an introduction to the different fruit.
For example, strawberries. A positive-oriented woody plant, with leaves and fruits that could be used as medicine.
Internally consumed, it could eliminate dampness and heat, and externally applied, it could stop bleeding and inflammation.
The described shape, the color, and the function were both quite different from the human world.
She once ate strawberries every day and never thought they had such functions.
Olivia opened the bag Bert had given her at once and grasped two strawberries from inside.
They are colorful and in different shapes, and a faint sweet fragrance could still be detected when they were close.
Their flesh and skin were both firm and easy to store.
If someone didn't tell her they were strawberries, she wouldn't even treat them as strawberries.
Apparently, the same fruit from different worlds can still vary greatly. Everything was quite different here.
Andrew missed his Olivia, and he quickly got the prey, then dragged it to the cave.
It was pitch black outside.
The light shining from the cave entrance was especially bright.
As soon as Andrew saw that flame, he was in terrible horror.
The cave was on fire!
His Olivia was still inside!
Andrew quickly dropped the prey and rushed into the cave.
Olivia, who was studying strawberries, looked up and saw Andrew's anxious look, and froze.
"Are you OK?"
Andrew rushed over and pulled her up. "Get out of here!"
Olivia was puzzled. "Why? What's happening?"
"The cave is on fire, it's dangerous!" Andrew grabbed the animal skin and rushed towards the fire pit to put it out !
Olivia was startled by his actions.
She grabbed Andrew's arm quickly. "Don't panic! I made the fire!"
Andrew stopped and looked at her in surprise. "You made the fire? Do you know how dangerous fire is? Anything that touches it will be burnt to ashes!"
"I know, but as long as you are careful, you won't get burned," Olivia tried to convince him. "Look, I've been by the fire for so long just now, and I haven't been burned. It proves that it's not as dangerous as you think. And I need a fire. It provides me with warmth and I can cook the food."
Andrew finally compromised.
His Olivia needed the fire, and he couldn't bear to refuse her.
Andrew dragged the prey into the cave, carefully peeled off the animal skin, set it aside, and planned to clean it the next morning.
His Olivia liked to collect animal skins, and he would indulge her in this little hobby.
Andrew cut the tenderest piece of meat for Olivia.
He watched as Olivia cut the meat into strips, skewered them on branches, and roasted them over the fire.
The meat sizzled, grease dripped into the fire, splashing sparks.
Andrew watched anxiously on the side, afraid that Olivia would get burned by the fire.
He tensed his nerves, ready to rescue her at any moment.
Olivia handed him the roasted meat and looked at him with encouraging eyes. "Try it."
Andrew hesitated for a moment, then took the meat skewer and took a bite.
It was very hot but very delicious.
Much tastier than raw meat.
Andrew ate the skewered meat eagerly, praising her sincerely.
Seeing that he enjoyed it, Olivia was delighted.
He then cut the remaining raw meat into pieces and roasted them over the fire.
Andrew had a talent for cooking and quickly grasped the technique of grilling meat.
The meat he grilled was crispy outside and tender inside, and extremely enticing!
Olivia was full after eating five skewers of grilled meat, and the rest all went into Andrew's belly.
The delicious grilled meat finally made him less fearful of fire.
After eating his fill, Andrew turned into a brown wolf, lying next to the fire, licking his wounds.
The wounds from being scratched by prey during the day were still on his forelimbs.
The blood had stopped flowing, but it still hurt.
Olivia moved closer. "Let me bandage your wounds."
