Chapter 14: The First Step to Power
The warmth of their embrace lingered even after they let go. Jisso felt a little safer, wrapped in the presence of Subaru, Rai, and Kanata. But deep down, a shadow of unease still clawed at her heart. She knew that the moment of peace they shared was only temporary.
Subaru, sensing her lingering worry, gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
**Subaru:** "You should rest, Jisso. Tomorrow… we start preparing."
Jisso looked up at him, confused.
**Jisso:** "Preparing for what?"
Rai stretched his arms behind his head, a lazy grin tugging at his lips.
**Rai:** "For war, babydoll. Didn't you feel that presence earlier? That wasn't just some random stalker lurking outside. That was a warning."
Kanata crossed his arms, his usual teasing demeanor absent.
**Kanata:** "They know you're here now. They know you're awakening."
Jisso swallowed hard, her fingers instinctively curling into the fabric of her dress.
**Jisso:** "But… I don't even know how to fight. What am I supposed to do?"
Subaru's expression softened, but his voice remained firm.
**Subaru:** "That's why we'll train you. You may not remember who you really are yet, but your power is already calling to them. If we don't act fast, they'll take it by force."
The weight of his words settled heavily on her shoulders. Jisso took a shaky breath and nodded.
**Jisso:** "Okay. I'll do it."
Rai whistled, looking impressed.
**Rai:** "Damn, I like this fiery side of you. Maybe I'll finally have a worthy sparring partner."
Jisso rolled her eyes.
**Jisso:** "Don't get ahead of yourself, Rai."
Kanata smirked but then grew serious.
**Kanata:** "We start tomorrow at dawn. Get some rest, Jisso. It's going to be a long day."
Jisso nodded, feeling exhaustion creep in. Subaru gave her a reassuring pat on the head before stepping away.
**Subaru:** "We'll be right here. No matter what happens, we won't let anything happen to you."
Jisso hesitated before speaking, her voice barely above a whisper.
**Jisso:** "Thank you… all of you."
Rai winked.
**Rai:** "Of course. What kind of sugar daddy would I be if I let anything happen to my babydoll?"
Jisso groaned, and Kanata smacked Rai on the back of the head.
**Kanata:** "Idiot."
With a soft chuckle, Jisso turned and headed toward her room, her heart still pounding from everything that had happened. She knew that she can't get a rest.
The wind howled once more, but inside the villa, Jisso was already drifting into uneasy dreams—dreams filled with whispers, blood, and a destiny she had yet to understand.
---
*Next day*
The sun had barely risen, casting golden light over the villa's courtyard as Jisso stood with the three brothers, mentally preparing herself for whatever was about to come. She had no idea what training with vampires would be like, but judging by the way Subaru, Rai, and Kanata were bickering already, she knew it wouldn't be easy.
**Subaru:** "I will teach her how to build endurance."
**Kanata:** "I'll teach her how to sense danger before it's too late."
**Rai (grinning):** "Oh, this is going to be *so* much fun. I call dibs on training her in dodging—wouldn't want that pretty face getting bruised."
Jisso stared at them, suddenly feeling like she had signed up for something far more intense than she realized.
**Jisso (muttering):** "Why do I feel like I'm going to regret this…"
Kanata smirked and patted her shoulder.
**Kanata:** "Too late, my friend. You're in this now."
Before Jisso could reply, Rai suddenly frowned, crossing his arms.
**Rai (jealous):** "Since when did she become *your* friend?"
Kanata shrugged nonchalantly.
**Kanata:** "Why do you care?"
Before Rai could respond, Subaru's irritated voice cut through the air.
**Subaru:** "Shut the hell up, you bloody fools."
Silence fell over the group.
**Subaru (sighing):** "Are you all just going to stand here all day?"
Jisso, sensing the tension, clapped her hands together and forced a smile.
**Jisso:** "Let's go, let's go!"
Kanata smirked.
**Kanata:** "Right… let's go."
Rai chuckled.
**Rai:** "Yaho!"
Subaru, still visibly annoyed, exhaled before addressing Jisso.
**Subaru:** "First, you need to warm up your body."
**Jisso:** "Okay!"
At that moment, Rai's grin turned wicked as he leaned in slightly.
**Rai:** "Heyyy, do you really want to do it publicly?"
Jisso blinked, confused.
**Jisso:** "Do what?"
Kanata facepalmed, whispering under his breath.
**Kanata:** "Now he's dead."
Subaru's expression darkened instantly as his patience snapped.
**Subaru (furious):** "You fucking idiot, how dare you say something like that?!"
Rai took a step back, holding up his hands in surrender.
Rai (nervously laughing): "C-Chill, bro! It was just a joke—"
Jisso, oblivious to their fight, turned to Subaru.
**Jisso:** "So, what do I have to do?"
Subaru, mid-glare at Rai, blinked, momentarily thrown off.
**Subaru:** "Huh?"
**Jisso:** "What exercises should I do?"
Subaru took a deep breath, regaining his composure.
**Subaru:** "Oh. Right. First, we start with stretches."
He began demonstrating a few warm-up exercises, and Jisso quickly followed his movements.
As she started her training, she could already feel the intensity of what was to come—but for the first time in a long time, she felt like she was finally taking control of her own fate.
---
*In afternoon*
The sun hung high in the sky, casting golden rays over the training grounds. The once-cool morning air had turned warm, and the intense training session was beginning to take its toll—especially on Jisso.
Her breath was ragged, sweat dripped down her forehead, and her legs felt like they would give out any second. She placed her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath. Subaru, who had been observing her closely, finally sighed and called out.
**Subaru:** "Okay, guys. Break time."
Jisso immediately straightened up, her face lighting up with relief.
**Jisso:** "*Finally!*"
Kanata smirked, watching her struggle to stay upright.
**Kanata:** "I guess you're not used to this kind of training."
Jisso shot him a tired glare before plopping down onto the ground.
**Jisso:** "Why would I be? I only did workouts when I was in school and college."
Rai, who had been casually stretching beside her, suddenly perked up. He tilted his head, a curious look crossing his face.
**Rai:** "Wait… you actually went to these places?"
Jisso chuckled, wiping sweat from her brow.
**Jisso:** "Yeah, of course. Everyone has to go to school and college—it's where you gain just a little bit of knowledge… and a whole lot of fun."
Rai let out a low whistle, shaking his head.
**Rai:** "Tch. Can't relate. I haven't gone to school ever."
Kanata rolled his eyes.
**Kanata:** "That's because we are Vampires."
**Rai (grinning):** "And yet, here I am, still looking this good."
Jisso laughed, leaning back against the cool grass, finally allowing herself to relax.
