Chapter 8: Whispers in the Dark
*Jisso*: "So… vempires really exist?"
*Kanata* (chuckling): "Burha, can't you see us standing here?"
*Subaru* (giving Kanata a disapproving look): "Jisso, we won't hurt you. Trust me."
*Jisso* (softly): "I trust you, Subaru… but…"
She narrows her gaze at Rai and Kanata, suspicion mingling with her fear.
*Rai* (feigning hurt, smirking): "Oho, do you think I'm some brainless menace?" He leans closer to Jisso, whispering, "Just like Kanata over there."
*Kanata* (indignant): "What did you just say?"
*Rai*: "What?!" (sticks his tongue out playfully).
*Subaru* (sternly): "Alright, you two, go downstairs. I want to talk to Jisso alone."
*Rai* (snickering): "Private, huh?" He smirks at Jisso, then adds with a teasing tone, "When you're done with your private chat, call me—I wouldn't mind some entertainment."
*Kanata* (rolling his eyes, uninterested): "You're hopeless…"
*Rai* (grinning): "Bye-bye! Have a good, *playful* time." He chuckles as he and Kanata head out, closing the door behind them. Kanata glances back briefly, almost as if… jealous, before following Rai downstairs.
With the room now silent, Subaru turns to Jisso, his expression softened by something almost like regret.
*Subaru*: "Jisso… I don't want to lose you the way I lost him… your father, Felix."
*Jisso*: "I… I'm sorry." She looks down, feeling a pang of guilt and sympathy.
*Subaru* (shaking his head): "No, I'm the one who should apologize. I should have told you sooner."
*Jisso*: "How… how did you lose my father? And what about my mother? And the rest of my family?"
*Subaru* (pausing, a shadow passing over his face): "It's… a long story, Jisso."
*Jisso* (determined): "I want to hear it. Tell me."
*Subaru* (sighing deeply): "It's late. You need rest. Tomorrow morning, I'll tell you everything."
*Jisso* (narrowing her eyes): "Everything?"
*Subaru* (nodding, with a sigh): "Yes… everything. Alright?"
Seeing her fatigue, he takes a step closer, but she flinches, instinctively stepping back. Subaru stops, a flicker of hurt in his eyes before he composes himself.
*Subaru*: "Alright then. Rest well, Jisso. I'll see you tomorrow."
He leaves quietly, closing the door gently behind him. Jisso watches him go, a part of her wishing she could ask him to stay… but uncertainty keeps her silent.
As the silence settles around her, Jisso realizes just how much she wants answers—and how much she feels drawn to Subaru, despite the mystery, despite her fear.
The night is heavy with silence as Jisso drifts into a deep sleep. Suddenly, a voice fills her mind, dark and haunting, whispering softly.
*??*: "Jisso… Jisso, we're going to be together… forever."
Jisso trembles, feeling a chill sweep over her.
*??*: "You are mine."
She jolts awake, her heart racing, her breathing quick and shallow as she tries to shake off the feeling of the unsettling dream.
*Jisso*: "What… what was that?"
The night was eerily silent, the darkness pressing against the walls of Jisso's room. In the stillness, a whisper drifted through the air, soft yet sinister.
**?? (whispering):** "Jisso... Jisso... we are going to be together forever..."
A chill ran down her spine as she trembled under the covers.
**??:** "You are mine."
With a gasp, Jisso jolted awake, her chest rising and falling rapidly, beads of sweat forming on her forehead. She clutched the blanket tightly, struggling to calm her racing heart.
**Jisso (breathing heavily):** "W-what was that?"
The room was quiet again, but something felt off—like a presence lurking in the shadows. As she glanced toward the window, a strange feeling crept over her, as if unseen eyes were watching her from the darkness outside.
She swallowed hard and slowly turned her gaze toward the window, expecting... something. But there was nothing there—just the faint glow of the moon filtering through the glass.
**Jisso (whispering to herself):** "It's just my imagination... right?"
She pulled the sheets closer to her chest, trying to shake the eerie sensation, but suddenly, a soft rustling filled the room. Her eyes darted toward the source, and she noticed that a small window across the room had been left slightly ajar, allowing the cold night air to seep in.
The whispering wind curled around her, almost as if it was calling her name.
**Jisso (letting out a nervous laugh):** "Oh... so it was just the wind. That really scared me."
She exhaled deeply, shaking her head at her own paranoia before getting out of bed and padding softly across the wooden floor toward the window. The cold breeze brushed against her skin as she reached out to close it.
Just as her fingers touched the windowpane, a sudden blur of black shot toward her.
**Jisso:** "Ahhh!"
A crow, its wings wide and wild,
**Jisso (panicked):** "What the—?!"
Jisso stood frozen, clutching her chest, her mind racing with fear and confusion.
**Jisso (whispering):** "What... is going on in this place?"
She quickly shut the window, pressing her back against it, realizing that something far more unsettling was at play in the villa.
