Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Fearless Against Thousands
Hearing Mo Fan's words, Flame Wolf immediately charged forward with fierce determination. It began biting and tossing away the one-eyed demon wolves surrounding Mo Fan, one by one. Even though it still felt some fear towards the Winged Wolf's dominating presence, as Mo Fan said, it recognized Mo Fan as its true master.
With Flame Wolf guarding him, Mo Fan was able to calmly focus on drawing his star map. Meanwhile, the enemies pinned down by his Shadow Spikes were unable to get close.
"Thunderbolt: Madness Dance!"
Lightning gathered and crashed down from the heavens.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
In an instant, four or five dozen one-eyed demon wolves were reduced to lifeless corpses. After clearing the small fry, Mo Fan shifted his attention to the bone-spiked demon wolves that had broken free from the Shadow Spikes.
"Bam!"
The wolves, though free from the spikes, were immediately paralyzed by the thunder, followed by Mo Fan's Nine Palaces bombardment. The area descended into chaos, with charred wolf bodies lying everywhere, and the ground scorched black from the fiery assault.
As Mo Fan gathered the souls of the fallen wolves, he noticed the sound of thunderous footsteps coming from the direction where Zhang Xiaohou had fled. A massive dust cloud rose in the distance.
The ground rumbled with the sound of hundreds, if not thousands, of wolves charging towards them.
"That little monkey sure knows how to draw attention!" Mo Fan muttered, realizing that Zhang Xiaohou had unintentionally provoked at least four or five hundred wolves, including around fifteen warrior-class wolves!
Taking a deep breath, Mo Fan used his shadow ability to teleport and reappear near Zhang Xiaohou.
"Brother Fan!!" Zhang Xiaohou cried out, skidding to a stop about ten meters behind Mo Fan.
"Fiery Fist: Nine Dragons!"
With a shout, Mo Fan completed his star map and unleashed a powerful attack. Nine azure fire dragons materialized, roaring through the air, each radiating intense heat. These fiery dragons tore through the sky, scorching the ground and bending the very air with their heat.
As they crashed into the horde of wolves, chaos erupted. The wolves, sensing the overwhelming power of the fiery dragons, scattered in panic, but no matter where they fled, they were quickly consumed by the searing flames. The battlefield became a sea of fire, with wolf after wolf reduced to ash.
"Boom!"
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The sound of the explosions reached high above, even distracting Zhan Kong for a moment from his aerial battle with the Winged Wolf.
Zhan Kong glanced down and was shocked by what he saw.
"That kid... he's unreal! That punch may not be high-level magic, but its power is way beyond normal intermediate-level spells!"
But the sharp wind of the Winged Wolf's attack brought Zhan Kong back to focus. With Mo Fan holding his ground below, Zhan Kong could now fully concentrate on defeating his opponent.
Zhan Kong had always wanted to handle the Winged Wolf on his own. However, he knew that even if he succeeded in slaying the beast, escaping would be nearly impossible with the surrounding wolves. He wasn't afraid of death, but he still had unfinished business with Salan and someone waiting for him back home.
That's why he hadn't come alone, hoping for support from the new Grand Commander. Yet Mo Fan's unexpected arrival had reignited his courage.
"Shadow Nails: Imprison!"
Dark spikes shot out, pinning the wolves that had survived the fire dragons. Those that escaped were promptly struck down by Mo Fan's fiery punches or bolts of lightning.
The battlefield was littered with wolf corpses, and just when Mo Fan thought he had a moment to breathe, he heard the rumbling of more wolves approaching.
"Brother Fan, there's no end to them! The wolves are still coming!" Zhang Xiaohou exclaimed, anxiety creeping into his voice.
"Damn it!" Mo Fan cursed, realizing that the earlier horde was only the beginning. The sound of their battle had drawn in even more wolves from the surrounding area.
"What do we do, Brother Fan?" Zhang Xiaohou asked, panic starting to rise.
"You handle the distractions. Just make sure they don't get too close to me. I'll take care of the rest." Mo Fan replied calmly.
Zhang Xiaohou was awestruck by his brother's confidence. Facing a thousand-strong wolf horde, Mo Fan still showed no signs of backing down.
As the wolves charged in, Mo Fan unleashed another barrage of fiery dragons. The wolves surged like an unstoppable tide, but Mo Fan's magic was just as relentless.
"Boom!"
Even after the fiery explosion, the wolves didn't slow down. They were furious that humans had dared to enter their territory.
"Howl!!!"
Flame Wolf raised its head and let out a fearsome howl, spewing fire from its mouth. Though it had initially felt intimidated by the winged blue wolf, after witnessing Mo Fan's sheer destructive power, Flame Wolf's courage grew. It now looked to Mo Fan with absolute reverence, eager to fight by his side.
Zhang Xiaohou also set up earthen barriers and used wind magic to slow the wolves' advance. While their attacks weren't as powerful as Mo Fan's, their efforts gave Mo Fan the space he needed to continue his onslaught.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Lightning, fire, and shadow magic tore through the horde. Mo Fan, Zhang Xiaohou, and Flame Wolf stood firm, holding their ground for over thirty minutes, during which the bodies of slain wolves piled up around them. At least a thousand wolves lay dead, victims of Mo Fan's relentless magic.
But as the battle dragged on, Mo Fan began to feel the strain. His mana was running low.
"Aerial Wings: Protection!"
A sudden gust of wind swept down, and Zhan Kong finally descended from his fight, landing on the battlefield.
"Thud!"
At the same time, the lifeless body of the Winged Wolf crashed to the ground, landing before the remaining wolves.
