Chapter 5: The Powerful Effect of the Eye of Apocalypse
[Speed Increase]: A D-level enhanced beast-controlling talent that temporarily increases the speed of contracted beasts by 10% after activation.
[Fire Halo]: A C-level enhanced beast-controlling talent. When activated, it generates a flame aura that boosts the damage of fire attribute skills used by contracted beasts.
As Jiang Nian walked along the street, he noticed the people passing by, their newly awakened beast-controlling talents clearly visible to him through the power of the Eye of Apocalypse.
The clarity of the information left him utterly stunned.
To test the effectiveness of this newfound ability, Jiang Nian focused his gaze on a young boy holding a black dog.
[Name]: Black Shadow Dog (Infancy)
[Race]: Beast
[Attribute]: Dark
[Talent]: Claws (Level D)
[Pedigree]: Elite Level
[Level]: Ordinary, First Level
[Skills]: Bite (Elementary), Shadow Claw (Intermediate)
[Evolutionary Route]: Click to view details...
The black dog was undoubtedly a beast. Before acquiring the Eye of Apocalypse, Jiang Nian would never have been able to access such detailed information without relying on specialized tools, like a beast-control illustrated book, or his own accumulated experience.
But now, under the influence of the Eye of Apocalypse, the black dog's entire profile unfolded before him effortlessly.
In that moment, Jiang Nian grasped the true power of the Eye of Apocalypse.
If he used it wisely, it would grant him unimaginable power.
Imagine a future battle: before the enemy even had a chance to act, Jiang Nian could already analyze their beast-controlling talents, and even the abilities of their summoned beasts.
Victory, in such scenarios, would come effortlessly.
Even more astonishing, he could identify the evolutionary paths of beasts. It was almost unbelievable.
At this point, Ye Chao, the so-called "child of destiny," was nothing more than an insect to Jiang Nian.
With this realization, Jiang Nian hummed a cheerful tune as he made his way home, his mood lifting with every step.
As the young master of the Jiang family, Jiang Nian was accustomed to traveling in luxury cars. On the first day of school, he had even ridden a giant dragon to the academy, causing quite a sensation.
However, Chen Muxue disapproved of his ostentatious behavior. To win her favor, Jiang Nian decided to tone down his flashy personality and began walking home instead.
But thinking back on this decision dampened his mood.
"I am the young master of the Jiang family, and yet I have to walk home? Unbelievable," he muttered to himself.
Fortunately, the Jiang family's manor was not far from the Yunyang Beast Control Academy, and he soon reached their expansive territory.
Before him stood a massive, imposing estate.
Flanking the manor's gate were two lifelike dragon statues that exuded an air of dominance.
Not even the grand gate of Yunyang Beast Control Academy could compare to the grandeur of the Jiang family's entrance.
Adding to the display of power, a group of bodyguards in black stood on either side of the gate. Each one was a skilled beast master.
The moment they saw Jiang Nian, they snapped to attention like well-trained soldiers and greeted him respectfully:
"Hello, Mr. Jiang!"
Jiang Nian nodded with a faint smile and strode into the manor.
Inside, the scene was even more spectacular. The environment resembled a paradise, with rare beasts roaming or kept in controlled enclosures across the vast grounds.
Everyone who encountered Jiang Nian along the way stopped to salute him respectfully.
But as he walked, Jiang Nian couldn't help but think back to how he had lowered himself in the academy, practically groveling for Chen Muxue's attention.
The more he thought about it, the more absurd it seemed.
Entering the castle at the center of the manor, Jiang Nian was greeted by the sight of a middle-aged man with a stern, commanding presence seated on a sofa in the grand hall.
The man looked up and spoke in a deep, serious voice:
"How long are you going to keep playing around?"
Jiang Nian froze for a moment, then straightened his posture and replied with determination:
"Father, I've made up my mind. I've decided to work hard and become stronger!"
"I don't care about Chen Muxue anymore. Tomorrow, I'll go to the Chen family myself and break the engagement."
The man, Jiang Zhenyu, was none other than Jiang Nian's father and the current lord of Yunyang City.
Hearing this, Jiang Zhenyu's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Nian'er, are you serious? You're not joking, are you?"
Jiang Zhenyu had never approved of Chen Muxue, but ever since Jiang Nian had enrolled in Yunyang Beast Control Academy, he had been completely infatuated with her.
Unable to sway his son, Jiang Zhenyu had reluctantly agreed to a marriage contract with the Chen family, even though he didn't consider them a suitable match.
But now, hearing that Jiang Nian wanted to break off the engagement came as a complete shock.
"I'm completely serious," Jiang Nian affirmed.
"There are countless opportunities in the world. As the young master of the Jiang family, I can have any woman I want. There's no reason to waste time on Chen Muxue."
"She doesn't even like me. It's time to move on and focus on what really matters."
Saying this, Jiang Nian sat down on a nearby sofa, crossed his legs, and added,
"Father, I need a new beast to control. From now on, I'll dedicate myself to training and improving my strength. I'm going to take first place in the academy's assessment."
"I won't disappoint you again."
Jiang Zhenyu, overwhelmed with joy, burst into laughter. It had been years since he had been this happy.
"Hahaha! That's my son! Finally, you've come to your senses."
He added,
"You can go to the manor's breeding base to select a new beast. If you don't find one to your liking, your mother will prepare one for you tomorrow."
"As for breaking off the engagement, you shouldn't go alone. I'll have Uncle Wang accompany you to the Chen family tomorrow."
Jiang Nian nodded, stood up, and said, "Alright, I'll go choose a beast now."
As Jiang Nian walked away, Jiang Zhenyu watched him, his eyes glistening with emotion.
He had planned to scold Jiang Nian that evening, but instead, his son's words had moved him to tears.
In Zhenyu's mind, there was no doubt that Chen Muxue had hurt Jiang Nian deeply, prompting this drastic change in his temperament.
There was no way Zhenyu would allow such a disrespectful woman to become part of their family.
This marriage would not only be canceled, but the Chen family would face serious consequences.
