Chapter 74: 73. Misunderstanding
"Ahhh Babe! Where's my Nail polish here?" Wendy asked Zade as Zade is reading through his paper work.
"I don't know babe, try looking around the drawers." Zade respond as Wendy pouted. "Ahhh!!! Who cleaned the drawers! Aaron!!!!!" Wendy called as Aaron opened the veranda and came into their room.
"Damn it Little Missy! You need to declutter your things. Why not go to a salon and treat yourself not doing everything in diy." Aaron said as he found the nail polish.
"Nah the outcome is still the same so why would I bother right?" Wendy said as she stopped and looked at Zade.
"Hmm well it's been awhile since Zade and I went out for a date so why not we go out for today Zade?" Wendy asked as Zade smirked.
"Thank you for suggesting that to my beautiful wife Aaron on such a busy day." Zade sarcasm hold Aaron in the corner.
"Fvck, I'm just kidding around young missy!!!!" Aaron shouted as Wendy is choosing a dress.
"Shut it Aaron I'm going to have a date with my Zade." Wendy said when a knock stopped their conversation.
"Who is it?" Zade asked as Aaron stands properly.
"Sir, Mrs. Camilla and Mr. Zion is here." The servant.
"Throw them out." Zade said coldly. "They are here with Master Zel, We cannot do that sir in respect for Zel." The servant added as Aaron immediately go out and see the situation.
"Fvck it, Why are they here on a time like this?" Zade said as Wendy put back her clothes and sit quietly on the bed.
Zade saw that Wendy was anxious by his mother's appearance after all Jayden got stab in front of her while she was pregnant with the twins.
"Jayden..." She whispered. "If they needed your help then please don't decline." Wendy started.
"What do you mean by that?" Zade asked out of confusion since Wendy is saying things that are unusual.
"I also want the twins to meet their grandma on their fathers side and it's been years now since that accident. I bet Zel bought them here for a reason." Wendy said as Zade stands up and sit beside her.
"What should I do? My Wife is such an angel while I'm the devil." Zade whispered as Aaron knocked on their door. "Spill it Aaron." Zade said coldly.
"You need to see it for yourself." Aaron said as Zade sigh and walk outside their room to meet his family. Yet the sight shocked everyone with Camilla's situation.
She lost most of her hair and looked like a weak old lady.
"I know I promised not to bring her here in the mansion but if this is her dying wish then please at least reconsider." Zel said.
"I see," Zade said coldly as he looked at Camilla.
"How could you not meet our own mother! Our mother is suffering from stage four lung cancer! At least for the last time show her some respect." Zion shouted as he was furious about how the Reyes treated her Mom and family.
"Zion!" Zel exclaimed as Zade smiled. "Then if its respect that you want then I hope you rest in peace." he said coldly as Zion was about to attack Zade yet Aaron immediately grab his hand and tackle him down on the floor breaking one rib.
"You sh*t!" Zion shouted still provoking Zade as Aaron put a pressure on his back causing it for Zion to cough blood.
"Stop it Aaron, I promised Camilla that I will take good care of Zion." Zel said.
"Release him Aaron." Wendy said as she walks down the stairs. Aaron sigh and release Zion.
"Call the Twins Aaron. I think this is why Camilla is here to see Zachary and Zackeeyah." Wendy said as she glared at Zade.
"I won't stop you for being rude on your mother but at least let the twin see her." Wendy said as Zade looked at Aaron waiting for his command.
"Call the twins, Tell them to meet her at the garden alone." Zade said as he left with the office as Wendy smiled.
"I know we didn't have a proper conversation yet I hope at least this things will make up for the times that you missed with your grandchildren." Wendy said as she smiled knowing how much Camilla was sad about her actions.
Zion helped Camilla walk towards the garden as Zel smiled sadly.
"You see Wendy, We are not getting younger anymore. I cannot always lock her down for almost killing my grandchildren yet Camilla is the person I love and cherished the most." Zel said as Wendy smiled.
"Emerald was a kind women who helped me cope up with the pain while Camilla left me. She was innocent, smart and kind hearted. She was just like you ready to stand up beside a mafia boss and yet I didn't love her that much at all. My heart alone belongs to Camilla no matter how bad she does to me." Zel said as he sat down and starts crying.
"That's why after Emerald died you ended up taking Camilla back with her baby even if you know that it wasn't from you right?" Wendy asked as Zel smiled sadly.
"If Camilla die what will happen to me?" He asked himself as Wendy just didn't know how to calm him down.
Upstairs Zade and Aaron heard everything as Zade was just staring at a blank space. He never really get to know his father that well since attachment is not necessary thing to teach on a Mafia Boss.
But hearing his father cry for his dying Mom hit them. Their father is in love and it wasn't his fault because he was just in love with her.
The garden was serene that morning, kissed by the golden hues of the rising sun. Flowers swayed gently in the cool breeze, their petals a riot of colors.
A soft melody of chirping birds accompanied the rustling leaves, creating a symphony that belied the heavy hearts gathering there.
Camilla sat on a weathered wooden bench beneath a sprawling jacaranda tree.
Her once-bright eyes were now tired, framed by lines etched from years of laughter and sorrow.
A knitted shawl hung loosely over her frail shoulders, and in her hands rested a porcelain teacup she barely sipped from.
From the cobblestone path, Zachary and Zackeeyah approached hand in hand, their identical features carrying a mix of hesitance and determination.
Though teenagers, their steps were heavy with the weight of what they knew.
"Grandma," Zackeeyah called softly, her voice trembling as she knelt beside Camilla.
Her long, dark hair fell over her shoulder as she looked up at her grandmother with pleading eyes, as though searching for some sign of strength.
Camilla smiled as the twins is a literal resemblance of Zade and Wendy.
'I see, These are the kids that I almost killed.' Camilla said as she looked at Zion as Zion nodded and had a box of cookies prepared for them.
"I made these cookies for the both of you since I heard that you like sweet things." Camilla said as the twins gladly take the box.
Jayden and Target are just around the corner yet a bit far away from the table for the twins and Camilla to have a private conversation.
"Why are they giving the twins such suspicious boxes?" Jayden asked as Zackeeyah and Zachary opened it and took a cookie. "A cookie?" Target asked.
Zachary and Zackeeyah exchanged a look as they approached the table. Camilla's frailty had grown more apparent in recent days, and her sudden insistence on baking struck them as both tender and strange.
Still, they trusted her deeply, even now, with a strange unease prickling at the edges of their minds.
"Thank you, Grandma," Zackeeyah said as she took a cookie, its warmth radiating through her fingers. Zachary followed suit, his movements slower, more hesitant.
Camilla's smile deepened as she watched them, her eyes shimmering with a strange mix of love and sorrow.
"Eat, my loves. They're best when warm."
The twins each took a bite. The cookies were soft and rich, melting in their mouths with an indulgent sweetness. But as they chewed, an unfamiliar bitterness crept in a metallic tang that made Zackeeyah pause.
"Grandma," she said, her voice uncertain.
"What did you put in these?" Before Camilla could answer, Zackeeyah clutched her chest, a sharp gasp escaping her lips.
The pain was immediate, searing, as though her lungs were collapsing under a weight she couldn't describe.
Zachary, too, dropped the half-eaten cookie, his hands gripping the table as he doubled over.
"Grandma what's happening?" Zachary rasped, his voice hoarse and strained. His chest felt as though it were being ripped apart, the pain radiating through his ribs like wildfire.
Camilla's expression shifted, tears brimming in her tired eyes. "I'm so sorry, my darlings," she whispered, her voice breaking. "I couldn't let you live and left my Zion without anything since your the next heir."
Zackeeyah collapsed to her knees, her breaths shallow and erratic. Jayden immediately run over her.
"You… poisoned us?" she managed to choke out, her vision blurring as the agony coursed through her.
Camilla knelt beside her, trembling hands cradling Zackeeyah's face. "It was the only way I knew to keep us together especially that my Zion deserve more than this prosperity and name of the Reyes."
Zachary, writhing on the ground, turned his tear-streaked face toward her.
"You had no right… to decide this for us."
The twins' pain crescendoed, a storm raging in their chests as their bodies weakened.
Camilla sat between them, her frail arms trying to hold them close, murmuring soft apologies and lullabies as though they were still children needing comfort.
The garden, once alive with color and light, now seemed to close in on them, its beauty tainted by the suffocating weight of betrayal.
The jacaranda tree above swayed gently in the breeze, its petals falling like silent tears onto the scene below.
Jayden and Target pulled their gun and was about to kill Camilla this instance when Rodney shot the both of them in the arms a s they let go of their guns.
"What the hell?! Where is Zel and why are you teaming up with her?!" Jayden shouted as Rodney stared at them coldly.
