When Fate Meets Forever

Chapter 4: CHAPTER 4

Elena's POV

"Can we all stand on our feet as we receive the bride."

I heard the announcement before the big door opened,I held the bouquet of flowers and walked into the hall, watching as everyone smiled at me.

This was supposed to be just business why were they smiling? Didn't they know I signed a contract to be here? Why was the wedding this big anyways?

My thoughts stopped abruptly when I saw the man I was supposed to be married to standing at the alter, his face devoid of any expression.

I walked slowly and finally made it to the stairs ,he came down and stood beside me, holding my hands as we climbed up the little stairs.

"If you keep looking like this, no one would believe we're getting married and in love." He whispered into my ears, stressing the word love in a mocking tone.

I looked at the person talking, his expression held nothing that showed he was in love and wanted to marry me.

"Like the way you look? I'll pass." I said fixing him a glare.

He scoffed.

"We're here today to witness the joining together in holy matrimony of our son and daughter Jamil Manson and his beautiful bride Elena Grey...."

The preachers voice faded as my mind became occupied with the faces that were registering in my head.

There were lots of politicians present and as my eyes moved from one face to the other, I was filled with disgust, disgust at the fact that their presence here was because of what they had to gain.

There was no permanent friend or enemy, the only thing permanent was their interest and that would be achieved with anything at stake, even their integrity.

The hall suddenly felt hot and suffocating, I couldn't wait for all this to be over so that I could go back to my life at the hospital.

"You may now kiss the bride." I heard the preacher say jolting me from the beautiful world I was painting in my mind, where I did not have to stand next to a man who could pass for the devil himself with his icy demeanor and his tone that sent cold chills down your spine.

Kiss the bride? Was this part of the arrangement? I needed to stop it, we could skip this part.

Before I could raise my hands,He pulled me close and planted his lips softly on mine, with his eyes staring deep into mine.

I held the lower part of his suit for support, shocked at the strength his lips held and the fact that Jamil Manson held me close to his body in front of the world.

I heard the clapping and cheering from the crowd as cameras flickered almost blinding my eyes.

He adjusted my dress and winked at me, sending me into more confusion.

"You're always zoning out,for someone who looks serious all the time."

"Maybe if this wasn't a contract marriage, you would have seen how happy I can get." I said taking some steps away from him.

"You want an actual marriage now? Just after a kiss? Jamil, you still have your charms."

Now it was my turn to scoff at him.

"You wish."

The remaining Events of the day went in a blur with me trying not to zone out half of the time, like the universe had seen my pitiable state, the wedding reception ended.

The ride to the new house we were going to stay as husband and wife for the media was a silent one, I looked at our the window the whole time as my mind was occupied with how I was going to cope with living and sharing a room with this stranger.

"We're here." He announced as he held the door open for me to come out.

We walked into what was the biggest house I had seen, although it was nothing compared to his parent's house, this one was also big and the interior design showed the designer was an expert.

"This is where you'll be staying until the contract is over, that's if we don't come up with another term, these are the housemaids, they'll show you around." He said pointing to the women standing before us.

He walked upstairs without stopping or turning to look at me.

I already knew he was an asshole and I had been too foolish to think he would have some manners today.

"Did you really marry Master Jamil?" The one I assumed was the oldest asked, tapping my lightly to gain my attention.

I looked down at my wedding dress before nodding a reply.

I could see the look of pity on their faces, did I just sign a death contract? I shifted the thought at the back of mind and focused on holding my wedding dress as I walked around the house with her.

The tour of the house had taken so much time and strength that when we arrived back at the sitting room where we started I was gasping for breathe and shoving water from a bottle I had asked for, down my throat.

"I'll take you to the Master's bedroom now Ma." She said taking the now empty bottle from my hand and passing it to another much younger maid behind her.

"Sure, thank you." I managed to say.

I couldn't wait to take off this heavy dress that I was already questioning whose idea it was to make something so heavy and uncomfortable on one's happy day.

We stopped in front of a room and before I could ask if I was sleeping here, the maid was already running through the hallway, probably back to her duty post, leaving me to my fate.

I stood in front of the room, holding the sides of the gown up,with sweat trickling down my face and no idea of my next move.

I finally decided to knock and just as I was about doing so,the door opened revealing a half naked woman who sized me up with her eyes before opening the door for me to go in.

I walked in as my tried adjusting to the dimly lit room.

"What are you doing here?" I heard Jamil's voice before I could make out his figure on the bed without another person I assumed was a woman straddling him, soft moans echoing in the room.

"I was brought here by one of the maids,I assumed this would be my room." I said trying to hide my disgust.

What sort of a man would do this on his wedding? Okay, I admit it was a fake wedding but then, he was still the devil.

"Then take off your clothes and join us or walk out if you're going to stand there like a statue."

I froze.

"What do you mean?" I asked praying I had heard him wrong.

"Join us or leave." He said laying emphasis on every word.

I turned around and walked out of the room, as the door shut behind me, I held the wall for support.

Maybe I had signed a death contract, with the devil.
