Who is Playing the Love Development Game in Gundam

Chapter 238: Chapter 238: The Liberator

While still discussing further developments with Erin, He Kui's wrist communicator vibrated with a message.

"He Kui, someone anonymously reported the spies hiding in May City! We've captured a lot of people here!" Shi He's excitement seemed to overflow through the communicator.

The allure of ten thousand credits had indeed worked, and within half a day, the information was delivered.

He Kui wasn't worried about being caught himself—his owl drone was nearly undetectable to the average person, and even the internal radar system hadn't picked it up. He had also carefully avoided surveillance cameras.

Now that the spies were apprehended, Matthias would likely contact him soon.

He Kui wasn't in a rush; Matthias would surely take note of his role in the capture.

In the meantime, he should start preparing and see if he could eventually bring Seitona over to his side.

The Martian princess's goal seemed to be to establish connections with Earth-based Naturals and Coordinators to help others.

So, he needed to provide Seitona with enough reasons to believe that staying with him would help her better achieve her mission. It was challenging, but not impossible.

"He Kui? What's going on?" Erin, still engrossed in their discussion, asked curiously.

"Director, it seems we'll have some peace of mind for a while."

"Peace of mind?" Erin, catching on, glanced at her emails and smiled.

"Indeed, these spies were hidden very well. To have them caught like this is remarkable."

"Now we can be a bit less cautious when going out."

"You planning on going somewhere, Erin?"

"Yes, to see my son."

"He's getting married soon."

"Congratulations."

"Well, it's not a big deal. There's not much feeling between us," Erin said, her tone tinged with longing.

"Unlike you, still so affectionate," she teased.

"Haha," He Kui chuckled awkwardly.

"But the birth rate among third-generation Coordinators is alarmingly low. If this keeps up, we might lose before the Earth Alliance even reaches us."

Erin sighed. This issue had been downplayed due to the ongoing war, but it was clear to anyone with insight that the birth rate was indeed plummeting.

"I heard that May City's primary schools can't even fill their seats anymore."

"Many have shut down."

The Coordinator community here was a mix; there were nearly equal numbers of first and second-generation Coordinators, like He Kui.

But third-generation Coordinators were scarce.

It would be different if third-generation abilities were markedly superior, but their overall talents hadn't improved significantly.

If anything, they were well-rounded in all aspects, but the "hexagon" of skills wasn't particularly expansive.

"Hmm..."

"It's about time you made a contribution to PLANT's population too," Erin teased.

"Maybe someday."

He Kui laughed, steering the conversation back to lighter topics.

Returning to his office and reviewing the latest development progress for his Gundam, He Kui quickly reached out to Councilor Joule.

"Your current progress is good. The titanium alloy you proposed is helping reduce costs by 10%."

"Yes, and with mass production, costs could be reduced even further."

"Then I'll leave the subsequent performance testing and backpack design in your hands."

"The backpack..."

"Use your Lightning pack as a reference, along with the three packs used by the Strike."

Kira had demonstrated the versatility of an elite pilot with a multi-role, customizable Gundam.

"The frame for the new mass-production model still needs refinement. Right now, it's still too expensive."

"Understood."

They wanted high performance but low cost.

Finding the right balance was tricky, but achievable.

"And one more thing."

"What's that?"

"I'd like to recruit a few elite Green Coats for my company."

"Only three elite Green Coats are allowed."

"Agreed."

A faint smile crossed He Kui's face.

The sweat and effort he'd put into the Gundam project these past few days were finally paying off.

Securing three elite Green Coats through official channels showed the Defense Committee's trust in him.

"Now that the Gundam's frame is complete, do you have any suggestions for a name?"

"Can I name it?"

"Since you're the creator, we'll take your suggestion into account."

"Liberator..."

"Liberator Gundam."

He Kui smiled.

"Understood, we'll consider it."

The name sounded strong and meaningful, and Joule, who had braced himself for a stranger name, was relieved and didn't dwell on it further before hanging up.

He Kui wasn't particularly invested in the name.

Covenant or something more dramatic didn't suit him. He preferred something a little less pretentious.

But the name wasn't important to him anyway.

As a pragmatist, He Kui didn't linger on such details for long.

With Joule's approval, he reached out to Hos.

"Hos, how's everything going lately?"

"How do you think?" Hos sighed.

He was clearly still bothered by the fact that he hadn't participated in the Earth descent operation.

"You're a department head now. Don't keep longing for the front lines."

He Kui found Hos's attachment to his roots both admirable and a little frustrating.

It had been so long, and he was still hung up on it.

"So, what does our dear Director He want from me?"

"Just so you know, the company affairs are all handled."

"I know. It's just that the Defense Committee has authorized me to recruit pilots."

"Really? For real?"

The Jinns had been gathering dust for nearly a month. Hos himself thought He Kui's plan had little chance, so this was a surprise.

"Yes, really. Three of them. Start the recruitment process, and we'll hold the interviews next week."

"Isn't that a bit rushed?"

"It's fine."

He Kui's reputation would ensure plenty of applicants.

A week for recruitment would be more than enough.

"Alright, if you say so."

Hos shrugged and ended the call, quickly setting things in motion.

He Kui stretched, satisfied.

Most of his immediate tasks were now complete.

Next, he'd have to consider how to use "Parallax" to expose Creuset. Unfortunately, he didn't have much solid evidence, aside from a grainy video of his fight with Creuset in the tunnels.

The video didn't show much context, and he'd stayed at a distance when he landed to avoid arousing suspicion.

Their conversation alone wouldn't be enough evidence, as it could easily be dismissed.

"I'm still missing a key piece..." he sighed.

And then there was the complex situation in Panama.

"Come back and eat!" A text from Shi He interrupted his thoughts.

"Alright

."

"Hurry up, there's a surprise waiting~"

"…"

Though He Kui was still mulling over serious matters, the mention of a surprise was enough to bring a slight smile to his face.
