Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Apprentice War (Part 2)

According to the map provided by the academy, all three zones of the battlefield were nearly identical, each shaped like an hourglass. On one side, three resource points were distributed in a triangular formation, with a public resource point situated between the two factions.

Richard, observing through Foggy's perspective, noticed the white wizard apprentices advancing rapidly towards them.

This indicated that Richard's current position was at the black wizard apprentices' resource point closest to the battlefield's center.

Judging by the white wizard apprentices' aggressive approach, Richard surmised they had foregone any resource point construction and headed straight toward them.

"All Enchanter Wizards, clear a space here quickly. Necromancers, prepare to summon the undead. Soul Wizards, ready for the first wave of mental assaults. Alchemy Wizards, start constructing fortifications," Richard commanded methodically. The apprentices, receiving their orders, promptly set to work.

As the new leader, Richard lacked a proper opportunity to establish his authority. Anyone who opposed him now risked being ruthlessly eliminated.

His understanding of wizard warfare was limited, so the decisions he made were based on the strategic simulations he had run over the past few days.

Now that they were on the battlefield, Richard could only hope his simulations proved accurate.

With the aid of magic, the Enchanter Wizards swiftly cleared a space in the forest, while the felled trees were used by the Alchemy Wizards to construct fortifications.

The basic skill of an Alchemy Wizard is rune inscription, commonly known as enchantment. Once inscribed with runes, the physical properties of these materials are significantly enhanced.

Alchemy Wizards also possess the skill of creating magic arrays, which are particularly useful in building fortifications.

As a leader, Richard focused not only on directing the apprentices but also on monitoring Foggy in the sky.

The white wizard apprentices, inexperienced as they were, failed to notice a magical pet observing them from above.

"According to the map, the black wizard apprentices' resource point is just ahead," Orey announced, glancing at his map with a satisfied grin.

Just moments ago, he had led the white wizard apprentice army to capture the central public resource point on the battlefield.

Rather than fortifying the resource point, he chose to lead the white wizard apprentices in a grand march toward the black wizard apprentices' resource point.

Resource points wouldn't distribute magic stones for another month, so leaving wizards to guard them was pointless. Better to press the advantage, constrict the black wizard apprentices' space, and seize control quickly.

Orey's strategy was sound: blitzkrieg to capture a black wizard resource point, squeezing their space. Then, once reinforcements arrived, use their numerical superiority to seize another point, aiming to conclude the war swiftly.

If everything went smoothly, they might end the conflict in this zone within a month.

But when do things ever go smoothly?

"Lord Orey, there's a clearing ahead, likely made by the black wizard apprentices," a white wizard apprentice reported.

"A clearing?" Orey paused, then laughed heartily. "These black wizard apprentices are fools. I was worried about the forest's complexity hindering our formation, but they've cleared it for us."

His words elicited laughter from those around him. As white wizard apprentices, they were trained for corps-style combat, where formation and advance were crucial.

However, some expressed concern.

"Lord Orey, could this be a trap?" one apprentice asked, worried.

"A trap?" Orey scoffed. "What trap could stop the advance of the white wizard apprentice corps?

In the face of absolute power, traps are but the tricks of the weak!"

With that, Orey ascended into the air, shouting to his fellow apprentices:

"Form up! Let's show these black wizard apprentices our might!"

Meanwhile, Richard, concealed behind cover, watched the white wizard apprentices advance.

"Are these white wizard apprentices idiots?" Richard muttered to himself.

He suddenly understood why the academy ignored the massive numerical disparity.

These white wizard apprentices lacked any combat experience and had no real battle sense.

Even the black wizard apprentices in their entrance exams knew to remain as hidden as possible during an attack and avoid making unnecessary noise.

Watching their casual demeanor, Richard couldn't help but reflect on the academy's reasoning for the rules.

"Soul Wizards, prepare the first wave of interference. Enchanter Wizards, ready to sweep the battlefield."

Richard issued orders through the crystal ball.

Knowing the exchange competition was an apprentice war, Richard had purchased many communication crystal balls.

As a transmigrator, he understood the crucial role of communication on the battlefield.

The white wizard apprentices soon entered spellcasting range, marching in formation like musketeers from the line infantry era.

"A bunch of fools. Soul Wizards, disrupt them. Enchanter Wizards, cast spells."

Richard smirked, giving the command. Wizards hidden near the battlefield unleashed their prepared spells.

Instantly, the white wizard apprentice corps faltered as dozens grimaced in pain, clutching their heads.

Simultaneously, over a hundred elemental spells rained down on their vanguard.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

"Engage! Engage!"

White wizard apprentices shouted, conjuring magic barriers around themselves. Many were outside the black wizards' range, wasting magic on barriers.

"Idiots," Richard sneered, ordering another wave of spells.

Another barrage followed.

Scarlet flames and charred bodies shattered the white wizard apprentices' morale. Experiencing such brutality for the first time, they broke and fled, heedless of disrupting their comrades' formation.

"Stop! Stop! No retreat!"

Orey, stationed centrally, shouted at the fleeing wizards, but none heeded him.

The harsh reality of war was beyond these ivory tower apprentices.

Boom!

The third round of spells commenced.

This time, the effects were less pronounced. Most white wizard apprentices had activated magic barriers, blocking much of the spells.

However, their morale had already collapsed, and their previous organizational advantage turned into a disadvantage.

Watching the disorganized white wizard apprentices, Richard gave a weary command.

"All units, attack. Kill as many as you can."

With that, the black wizard apprentices, eager for action, surged forward. With the white wizards' formation shattered, they easily joined the fray.

Spells erupted throughout the forest, the white apprentices' screams and black apprentices' wicked laughs echoing among the trees.

Richard refrained from joining the fray, instead drawing a magic circle on a flat patch of ground with chalk.

As he channeled magic into the circle, a mass of fire elements began to coalesce.

The fire elements grew, forming a towering three-meter-tall fire giant.

"Human, you have summoned me at last."

Richard pointed to the battlefield,

"Slaughter them and bring me their badges."

Happy New Year Everyone! May this year bring you joy, peace, and prosperity. Cheers to new beginnings! 🎉🍻🎊
