Chapter 17: CH: 17 Red Skull and Dr. Zola

[Chapter: 17 Red Skull and Dr. Zola]

The torpedo was fired. The bombing was spectacular, but it was of no use. After all, it didn't hit—it just struck the sea behind the Hydra cruiser.

"What the heck? How is this possible? Why didn't my attack sink their ship? Go on, keep attacking! Sink it!" The captain of the Allies' ship cursed aboard their cruiser.

"Captain, another of their missiles is coming this way," said a sailor.

"Then what are you doing standing still? Are you waiting to be hit? Move, hurry up, and move the damn ship!" the captain yelled.

"Yes, sir."

The Allies' cruiser moved sideways, avoiding the missile attack.

"Hohh," everyone breathed a sigh of relief as they narrowly avoided being hit.

"Captain, another one is coming!" a sailor yelled.

"Those bastards! Was the first one just a distraction? Hurry up and dodge it!"

"It's too late. The other party has calculated that we would avoid going in this direction, so the second one I—"

Boom!

Before he could complete his sentence, a huge roar rang out. The cruiser's head was hit, the explosion rose to the sky, and the ship was destroyed.

Everyone on the Hydra cruiser cheered. "It was hit again, and it sank so quickly! Hahaha!"

"This is awesome. Who is the gunner today? His shots are so accurate!" Those who didn't know were asking about him.

The Allies' cruiser's head was blown apart, sinking slowly into the sea. The entire ship was struck at the base and was about to be completely destroyed.

"Jump! Jump into the sea! We're sinking!" The sailors who survived the explosion shouted from various locations on the cruiser, moving through the hull and leaping into the water.

William observed the Allies' cruiser. "Don't you think the sinking speed is too slow? They're escaping."

"What do you mean?" the bald man asked.

"I'll do it again." William pressed the launch button.

Another missile launched and blasted toward the slowly sinking Allies' cruiser.

Boom!

Flames shot into the air alongside seawater. The entire hull was blown apart, and massive debris, four or five meters long, was thrown high into the sky by the impact and then slammed heavily back into the water.

Those sailors who were desperately trying to escape were directly consumed by the soaring water and flames.

"Did you see that? Isn't this scene spectacular?" William shouted.

"It's really pretty," the bald man admired. "If Sir Schmidt finds out, he'll be very happy."

After eliminating the two cruisers, the Hydra ship turned and sailed toward the distant sea, heading for the Mediterranean.

Between the two mountains of Klausberg, Austria, stood a huge and majestic military factory, one of Hydra's strongholds.

William was now in this vast arsenal. Standing before him were two individuals: the leader of Hydra, Red Skull Schmidt, and the genius scientist Dr. Arnim Zola.

In the movie Captain America, the two best scientists were Dr. Abraham Erskine and Dr. Zola, one a hero and the other a villain.

"I've heard quite the tale about you," Schmidt said, his cold smile cutting through the tension like a blade. "You seized the serum, assassinated Dr. Abraham Erskine, and even sent two Allied cruisers to the depths. Impressive accomplishments, no doubt. But you're not the Heinz Kruger I know. So tell me..." His eyes narrowed, his tone laced with icy suspicion. "Who are you, really?"

A Hydra agent approached Schmidt with a piece of paper and handed it to him.

Schmidt glanced at the document and nodded. "William, right? You also possess the serum's power. What you did in the United States was crazy. So, what brings you here to me?"

"I have a fondness for madness and an appetite for chaos," William declared with a bold grin, his voice carrying a hint of theatrical flair. "Hydra's grand ambition—to conquer and rule the entire world—is nothing short of insane. Admirable in its audacity, but utterly unhinged all the same. And a vision this grand, this wild, could only be brought to life by someone like you, Mr. Schmidt. Naturally, if I'm to indulge in my love for the extraordinary, there's no better place to be than at your side," William said loudly.

"You and I have gained power beyond humanity. We are both Dr. Erskine's most successful work. We should be proud of our power—fearless—and rule the world," Schmidt said, clenching his fist.

He believed William was like him, someone who viewed himself as superior to the inferior masses.

William nearly laughed. He had succeeded in infiltrating the Nazis, gaining the power he sought, but he wouldn't stop there.

"I have no interest in ruling the world. I only want to do what I desire, like destroying a few countries," William said with a smile.

Schmidt laughed. "Why should I believe you, and why shouldn't I kill you?"

"You won't, because you know the value I bring. Except for Dr. Zola, everyone beside you is worthless—they can't help you conquer this world," William said coldly, a manic glint in his eyes.

Dr. Zola, moving his short, wiry frame, flashed a proud smile. He was satisfied with William's answer. Knowing his own genius, Zola said, "Master Schmidt, I would like to propose employing him. William is a talent hard to come by."

Schmidt paced back and forth, seeming to ponder something. "You may have talent, but now you are a member of Hydra. So don't try any tricks with me."

"Okay," William said indifferently. "I will be your most powerful war machine," he added inwardly, 'Just kidding. I just want to borrow your name to do what I want.'

"Very good," Schmidt nodded. "I heard that someone else has also gained the serum's power."

"Yes, but it's nothing to worry about. Wouldn't it be boring if there wasn't anyone to oppose us?" William replied lightly.

Schmidt laughed loudly. "Yes, that's true! It wouldn't be fun otherwise! Hahaha!"

"What about the serum?" Zola asked eagerly, his eyes gleaming.

William pulled a serum-filled bottle from his pocket. "You mean this?" William let the bottle slip from his hand, shattering it on the ground.

"What are you doing?" Zola exclaimed.

"The serum is worthless without Dr. Erskine. Dr. Zola, even you can't recreate it," William said, spreading his arms.

"William is right. This thing is worthless," Schmidt agreed.

"Sir, the head of state is here," a Hydra soldier announced.

"The head of state, huh?" Schmidt sneered. "Doctor, show William around. I'll deal with this."

"Yes," Zola said, leading William away once they were out of sight.

Schmidt grinned. "So, you're standing in my way." It was clear Schmidt intended to rid himself of Hitler's control and pursue his own ambitions. As for William, this matter was of no concern to him. He would merely be another subordinate in his service.
