Chapter 6: CH: 06 Changes

[Chapter: 6 Changes]

Dr. Erskine looked at William, who came out in shock. "It was a success!!! The experiment succeeded!!!"

He never thought he would witness such amazing results.

"Successful indeed." William looked at himself from head to toe. His whole body was now taller by about ten centimeters, and the original scars and marks on him were all gone, as if they never existed.

His naked upper body was fully streamlined, with muscles full of explosive power.

These weren't normal muscles. None of the muscles in his body were normal anymore; they were special muscles that possessed both peak strength and peak endurance. This was what the Vita rays were meant for: to stimulate the growth of them.

All the physical aspects of the human body were turned up to the max—muscle efficiency, muscle-mind coordination, power output, and reduced fatigue.

Not only the muscles, but all the organs were upgraded.

The chest cavity became larger due to the height increase, and the efficiency of the lungs was maximized, designed to provide much more stamina than even the most professional endurance athletes.

The oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood doubled, and there were many other changes to it.

The bones became very strong and hollow to provide more space for bone marrow, increasing the production of new cells.

Not only that, the heart became bigger and much stronger, pumping more blood throughout.

But unknown to the doctor, the Vita rays not only stimulated growth, they also stimulated regeneration in his body, changing a few fundamentals—not only giving him a strong physique but also a powerful regenerative healing factor.

"It's a perfect human body." William looked at his physique, which was more chiseled than that of a Greek god.

"This is the ultimate power that the human body can reach. It's really amazing for humans to achieve such a feat," William said as he ran his hand over his abdominal muscles.

"Congratulations, Doc. Your life's work wasn't in vain—you've accomplished something truly extraordinary, something most would deem impossible. So, tell me, Dr. Erskine," William said, his gaze fixed on the doctor, a subtle smile playing on his lips. "How do you propose I repay you for this remarkable gift?"

The doctor felt a hint of danger and hurriedly picked up a gun that was kept in a drawer on the panel.

William said with a smile, "Doctor, what are you doing?"

"You want to kill me, right?" Dr. Erskine called out. He thought this would be the same as Schmidt—after gaining power for himself, William would try to kill him to stop the spread of the power.

"I won't harm you, doctor. Your presence is very much required in this world right now. I have to become an antagonist—how will I get villain points if there is no hero to oppose??"

"What did you say?"

"Forget it, you won't understand this level of advanced stuff. But there is one thing you should know: you are a very important person. Without you, there is no Captain America. Plus, killing you won't do any good right now," William said as he walked towards the doctor slowly.

Erskine's eyes widened, seeing him get closer, and misunderstood. "You ungrateful beast! I made you look like this, I made you this strong. Don't you have a conscience?"

"Don't come any closer. Don't you come, or I'll shoot." Dr. Erskine pointed the gun at William, his hands trembling slightly.

"Dr., open fire. I just want to try what this body can do..." William laughed.

He was doing this to intimidate Erskine, and plus, he would get a chance to try out his 'new' body.

"Don't come over." Dr. Erskine yelled and pulled the trigger.

William could see the direction of the barrel of the pistol. His mind quickly calculated its trajectory as he sidestepped.

Boom!!!

The bullet went right in front of him as he smiled.

This was totally superhuman—he could dodge bullets now.

Erskine only felt a flash of light in front of his eyes, a pain in his neck, and his whole body was lifted, his legs struggling weakly.

William's hands wrapped around Erskine's neck, and he said with a smile, "Doctor, thank you very much."

Erskine, still holding the gun, wanted to give William a shot, but he saw a blurry shadow of a hand as William's other hand grabbed the gun.

"Doctor, it's useless." William snatched the gun lightly and held it firmly with the palm of his hand.

"You, you will, you will fail," Erskine squeezed out, feeling the pressure against his neck.

"Doctor, are you ready to leave your old life behind now?"

"You fucking Demon!!!!" Erskine's breathing became increasingly difficult as he shouted.

"Again for me, the devil is the best compliment." William smiled.

Suddenly, all the danger senses in his body turned on like sirens as he turned his head around and saw a hand.

A hand holding a pistol pointed at his head, with the trigger about to be pulled.

He had to make a choice: kill Dr. Erskine, get hit by a bullet, or lose Dr. Erskine and quickly avoid.

Although the serum raised William's body's stats to the extreme, it was only the extreme of human beings. It still couldn't ignore the bullets—especially one headed for the brain at point-blank range.

William made the easy choice—he released the doctor quickly and avoided the bullet.

He jumped behind the control panel and reloaded the pistol in his hands.

"Doctor, are you okay??!" A woman's voice came over.

William looked at the reflection of the shooter through the glass screen on the floor above and smiled.

"Nice to see you, Miss Carter."

Yes, this was Margaret 'Peggy' Carter—the epitome of timeless beauty. Steve must have been a fool to ever let a woman like her slip away. Her features were stunningly close to the actress Hayley Atwell, who portrayed her, only far more radiant, exuding an allure that surpassed anything captured on screen. It was a striking revelation, especially since neither Steve nor Bucky bore any resemblance to their Hollywood counterparts. The contrast was as perplexing as it was fascinating, adding another layer of mystery to this already surreal experience.

Although Peggy Carter is a woman, her skills as a special agent are top-notch, from hand-to-hand combat to accurate marksmanship—she knows it all.

After Captain America was frozen, she and Howard Stark, along with a few powerful people, created the SHIELD agency.

"Who are you?" Carter said, her pistol still directed at the spot where William had ducked as she moved toward the doctor to pick him up.

"You just took a shot at me—quite the bold move, I must admit. Came dangerously close, too. Now, tell me, how should I even the score? Hmm... well, they weren't lying about your beauty. You are quite the sight to behold. I suppose that will suffice... for now," William said, his voice low and teasing, the edge of danger lacing his tone.

Peggy's face burned with righteous fury, her disdain for men like him—those who reduced a woman's worth to her appearance—etched into every line of her expression.

"You won't get that chance," she growled, her voice low and venomous. "I'll make sure of it... starting by tearing your eyes out with my bare hands."

"You've got quite the wild lioness, don't you? I like that. There's something about a fiery woman—untamed and full of passion—that makes her the best kind of partner," William said, his voice dripping with mischief as he licked his lips, a predatory gleam in his eyes. Just as he was winding up to throw another jab, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed sharply through the air.

A group of soldiers burst through the concealed entrance hidden within Erskine's house, their armor glinting ominously in the dim light.

"Damn!! You people are fast, and you brought in so many..." William rocked the slide of the pistol as his brain worked in overdrive. It wasn't just a pretense right now—his reaction speed was high, but he didn't have a shield or any armor.

And this was a small enclosed space; it was difficult to avoid so many people and guns at once.

Carter pulled the doctor back and handed him to the soldiers behind her.

Dr. Erskine stood up with the help of several soldiers and shouted, "You must not let him go. Even if you have to kill him, it doesn't matter. You can't let him leave here."

"Hey, Doc!!! How can you say that? You made me like this! You have to take responsibility now!!" William said, laughing as he calculated all his options.

Carter spoke up: "Give up your resistance and surrender. Otherwise, we will have no choice but to shoot you. Choose one."

"It's for me to choose, dear. Don't worry, I'll be sure to spank you for this!!" He threw another jab.

He wasn't joking right now. Not only was this woman extraordinarily beautiful, but she was also strong—just the type he liked, and she would become Steve's lover in the future.

But the future had already changed.

Plus, he was sure that taking her for himself would earn him quite a few villain points. There was no more classical villain than the one who steals your girl.

He liked the title "Mr. Steal Your Girl." What could be more classy than this?

The soldiers stood awkwardly at the situation and looked toward Peggy for further instructions.

Peggy's eyes flashed with deep fury. "Go to hell. Light him up!!"

Bang!! Bang!! Bang!! All the soldiers started shooting in the direction where William had ducked.
