Chapter 11: True Enemies! Return of the xyz remnants P3

Legend of the Red Eye

Authors note I don't own Yugioh or any of its characters. This Fanfic follows a boy with a red eyes deck.

Hope you enjoy.

My voice trembled slightly with a mix of anger and grief as I spoke the name. "Seto Kaiba. My dad was the creator of the original Duel Academy… and not only did your father kill him, but my teacher, you may know him as the King of Games, Yugi Muto, thus beginning the fall of the Fusion Dimension."

The room fell silent, the tension now thicker than ever. Even Declan, with all his composure, seemed momentarily shaken.

Chapter 11: True Enemies! Return of the xyz remnants P3

Everyone was staring at me like I'd just told them the sky was green. The chairwoman narrowed her eyes, but not because of the bombshell that her husband was a murderer—no, that didn't seem to faze her. What really got her attention was the little detail about Kai being Seto Kaiba's son.

"Seto Kaiba," she said, her tone dripping with cautious curiosity as her gaze drilled into me. I could feel the guards tense up, probably waiting for me to pull out a Duel Disk and start wrecking the place. Her focus wasn't on them, though. It was on me. "That name... I doubt anyone over the age of thirty could forget what an incredible man he was. He changed the meaning of duelling forever; in ways most people couldn't even dream of understanding. And you're saying you're his son?"

"Yup," I replied casually, leaning back with my hands behind my head like I didn't have a care in the world. Her expression didn't budge, clearly not buying it. Declan, however, decided to jump in and wrestle back control of the conversation before things got even more interesting.

"So," he started, doing his best to sound composed, "what you're telling me is that you're from a Duel Academy that isn't run by Leo Akaba?"

I gave a single nod, waiting to see what kind of logical hoops he'd jump through next.

"If you're not from Duel Academy, then where exactly are you from? And why are you here?"

That one made me grin. Oh, I'd been waiting for that question.

"The answer's pretty simple," I said, letting my smirk widen. "I'm actually a proud member of the You Show Duel School."

Declan's expression did a 180 so fast, I thought he might snap his neck. He went from calm and calculating to outright furious, his face twisting into something I hadn't expected from Mr. Always-in-Control.

"Do you think this is a joke?!" he snapped, his voice booming through the room. The little girl by his side practically dove behind her mother, terrified by her brother's sudden outburst.

"Not at all," I replied, keeping my tone light and easy. "I meant exactly what I said. I'm from the You Show Duel School."

"That's impossible!" Declan barked. "The You Show Duel School is from the Standard Dimension. I—"

"Who said that?" I interrupted, cutting him off mid-rant. His face twisted into confusion, and I could feel the tension in the room spike. "Who told you that the You Show Duel School only exists in the Standard Dimension? Looks like someone's been feeding you half-truths, Declan." I leaned forward, my smirk turning downright smug. "I'd be happy to fill in the gaps in that tiny, underdeveloped brain of yours—just as soon as you call off these oh-so-threatening guard dogs. Seriously, they've been staring at me like I'm an all-you-can-eat buffet. It's getting embarrassing for everyone involved."

The room went dead silent, all eyes flicking between me and Declan. Oh, I was having way too much fun with this.

A few seconds later

The room was finally clear of the trash, Declan liked to call his "guards." Now it was just the four of us: Declan sitting stiffly behind his desk, the chairwoman with her daughter on her lap off to the side, and me, lounging comfortably in the chair across from him. The tension in the air was thick, and I could practically feel how desperate they all were to hear my story.

"So," Declan started, his voice as calm and calculated as ever, "now that everyone's out of the way, would you mind telling us your story?"

"That depends on you," I replied lazily, propping my legs up on the empty chair beside me. I stretched casually, taking my time, just to annoy him. "You've got two choices: I can give you the juicy dirt on Duel Academy, or," I held up two fingers, smirking, "I can tell you about all the fun I used to have back in the Fusion Dimension during my free time."

Declan's frown deepened. "How about we start with what you meant by You Show Duel School not only being from here?"

I sighed dramatically, dropping my feet to the floor like I was conceding some great burden. "Fine, if you insist on being boring." I leaned back and started. "There's a You Show Duel School in the Fusion Dimension too. It's not just a school, though—it's a haven. It's where people like me go when we've managed to escape from the Academy's claws. Now, it's being used as a resistance base to fight back and keep them from destroying what's left of our dimension's reputation."

"That's impossible," Declan said sharply, his face twisting in disbelief. "You Show Duel School was created by Yusho Sakaki. Of all the names, why would someone in the Fusion Dimension pick You Show?"

For a moment, I thought I might actually have to explain it to him, but then I saw it. Realization hit him like a ton of bricks, his eyes widening slightly as the puzzle pieces clicked into place.

"You're right," I said, smirking as I leaned forward, ready to enjoy the show. "Yusho is the creator of Duel Academy—"

"That's why the school in the Fusion Dimension is called that," Declan interrupted, cutting me off. "Because Yusho is in the Fusion Dimension."

It was my turn to be entertained. I leaned back with a smug grin, watching the shock spread across his face. The chairwoman and her daughter, on the other hand, looked completely lost. They clearly couldn't keep up, which only made this better.

"Now you're getting it," I said, nodding approvingly. "Yusho showed up in the Fusion Dimension right after Duel Academy's attack on the xyz dimension. That man saved my life more times than I can count. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't even be sitting here right now."

Declan was putting it all together, but the chairwoman? She was fuming, her frustration practically radiating off her in waves. I could tell she hadn't understood a single thing since Yusho's name entered the conversation.

"I don't get it! Yusho ran away somewhere to escape from his match with the Sledgehammer. What's he doing in the Fusion dimension?" Asked the chairwomen clearly confused.

"Actually, Yusho didn't run away." This voice came from Declan not mine as he looked at his mother. "it's time you knew the truth about Yusho Sakaki's disappearance."

She turned to face him slowly, her expression a mixture of scepticism and the kind of annoyance only a parent could muster. "Declan, I've heard enough stories about Yusho Sakaki to last a lifetime. The man vanished into thin air, leaving behind his family and responsibilities. What more is there to say?"

I couldn't help but smirk as I rested my hands behind my head. Oh, this is going to be good.

Declan didn't flinch. "What you've heard is only half the story," he said, his voice firm now. "Yusho didn't abandon his family. He didn't run away from his responsibilities. He was forced to leave... by Duel Academy."

Her brow furrowed, confusion mixing with a flicker of disbelief. "Forced? What are you talking about?"

'That was a stupid way to phrase it' I thought. Declan let out a slow breath, as if he were steadying himself, thinking over what to say. "Yusho discovered the truth about the Fusion Dimension's plans long before anyone else did. He knew Duel Academy wasn't just training duelists; they were creating an army. He opposed Leo Akaba's vision of uniting the dimensions through domination and war. That opposition made him a target."

Her lips parted slightly, but no words came out. She was stunned, though not as much as I thought she'd be. Maybe some part of her had always suspected there was more to the story.

Declan pressed on. "Yusho tried to stop them. He infiltrated the Fusion Dimension, thinking he could convince Leo to change his methods. Instead, Leo saw him as a threat and made sure he couldn't return. Yusho was stranded in the Fusion Dimension."

I decided it was time to chime in. "Not just stranded," I said, casually tossing my legs back over the armrest of my chair. "The guy practically became a legend over there. You should've seen it—he didn't just survive; he thrived. Built a whole resistance, a haven for people to learn how to have fun while duelling. Yusho's a hero in the Fusion Dimension and currently one of the professors' top enemies."

The chairwoman's gaze snapped to me, her eyes narrowing. "And you expect me to believe this nonsense? A resistance? A hero? This sounds like a child's fantasy."

Declan's voice cut through, sharp and cold. "It's the truth, Mother. I've spent years piecing this together. Everything Duel Academy has done—their invasions, their abductions—it all ties back to Leo's vision of the Arc Project. It seems Yusho tried to stop it and paid the price."

She looked between the two of us, her expression unreadable now. "Why didn't you tell me this sooner?" she asked, her voice quieter, almost brittle.

"I didn't think you'd believe me," Declan admitted. "And frankly, when he didn't come back to this dimension, I thought he had died. I had no idea he was still stuck in the fusion dimension."

I couldn't help but laugh, earning a glare from both of them. "Well, she's handling it just fine now," I said, grinning. "Besides, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Wait until we get to the part where Yusho trained people like me to fight back. That's where the story really picks up."

Declan shot me a look that could've frozen lava, but I just shrugged making 'What?' look.

The chairwoman said nothing, her gaze distant as if she were processing every word. Maybe she was starting to see the bigger picture—or maybe she just didn't want to admit she'd been wrong about Yusho all along. Either way, the truth was out now, and there was no taking it back.

"There is something else still missing that I want to know." Declan spoke up, changing the subject. "Why exactly are you here, why isn't Yusho here himself."

"That's easy, Yusho couldn't come here. He is injured" I said as my face grew slightly grim. Declan raised his eyebrow, noticing this. "You see his fight against duel academy didn't end without injury. Not to mention, they are still on our asses. He had to stay back in order to protect the school. I came here because even with all our strength, duel academy is no joke. We need support. So, after the teach told me all your plans to build a stronghold army to fight against the professor, he asked me to help you. That's the reason I am here." My expression turned deadly serious as I locked eyes with Declan. "Declan, let me shatter any ridiculous notion you might still have that your so-called pro duellists in this dimension stand a chance against Duel Academy."

Declan face hardened at this. "What makes you think we can't fight back. Are you "Underestimating us?" Declan asked, his tone cold but curious.

I couldn't help but chuckle. "You're the one underestimating, Declan," I shot back, leaning forward slightly. "I know because ever since our fight, I've been dueling your so-called teachers and pros in this dimension."

Declan grimaced at that, his mask of calm cracking just a little. I knew he'd been keeping tabs on me—watching every duel I'd been in since our last clash. And he also knew, just as well as I did, that none of those duels had gone in his favor.

"I don't think I need to remind you how embarrassing those duels were for your side. Some of those 'pros' wouldn't even make it into Ra Yellow at Duel Academy. And let me tell you, there are people in that school who would wipe the floor with both of us. You need to understand just how outmatched you are."

Declan's jaw tightened, his gaze narrowing. "Yusho was able to infiltrate Duel Academy on his own and get a duel with my father," he countered, his voice steady but insistent. "If we can work with him, I'm sure we can stop Duel Academy."

I sighed heavily, shaking my head. "You're still not getting it, Declan." I swung my legs off the chair and leaned forward, my tone dropping as the room grew more serious. Both Declan and his mother stared at me, waiting.

"You see, Duel Academy isn't just some ordinary school. It's a fortress. And the students there? They're not ordinary duellists. Let me break it down for you."

I paused, letting the tension build before continuing.

"There are three main categories of students at Duel Academy. First, you have the Obelisk Blue students—these are the elite. The top of the top. It takes insane skill, knowledge, and connections just to make it into that tier. These are the duellists who could crush you without breaking a sweat. They're the ones who lead, who strategize, who take down opponents like it's child's play. And trust me, most of the duellists you've seen so far don't even come close to their level."

Declan's mother shifted uncomfortably, but I ignored her and pressed on.

"Then there's Ra Yellow. These are your solid duellists—the backbone of the Academy. They might not have the raw dominance of Obelisk Blue, but they're still leagues above your average pro duellists here. They're disciplined, consistent, and dangerous. If you underestimate them, you're done for."

"And last," I said, my smirk returning, "there's Slifer Red. Now, you might think this is where the weakest duellists are, right? Wrong. Even the so-called 'weakest' duellists at Duel Academy could destroy most of the duellists in this dimension. The Slifer Red students are underestimated because of their rank, but you'd be surprised how many of them have the grit and creativity to pull off impossible wins."

I leaned back in my chair, letting my words sink in.

"That's what you're up against, Declan. A school full of duellists who've trained harder, studied more, and fought tougher opponents than anything you've seen. And the worst part? The truly dangerous ones aren't even students anymore—they're the teachers, the enforcers, the people running Duel Academy. They're the ones hunting you, me, and anyone else who dares to stand in their way."

Declan's face was hard to read, but I could tell he was processing everything I'd said. His mother, on the other hand, looked pale, her lips pressed into a thin line.

"And that's just the students," I added with a dark chuckle. "We haven't even gotten to the school's resources. Duel Academy has access to advanced tech, endless Duel Monsters knowledge, and let's not forget their little army of duellists trained specifically for war. They don't play fair, Declan. They don't need to."

I locked eyes with him, my voice dropping to a near whisper. "So tell me, Declan, do you still think this is a fight you can win with some thrown-together plan and blind optimism?"

The room fell silent, the weight of my words hanging heavy. For once, even Declan didn't have a response.

"That silence worries me because I haven't even explained the worst of it. The ten shadows, also known as the War Generals of duel academy."

"The Ten Shadows?" Declan repeated, his brow furrowed in confusion as he and his mother both stared at me.

I leaned back in my chair, arms crossed, and smirked. "Yeah, the Ten Shadows. They're the top ten students at Duel Academy. And trust me, they're on an entirely different level than the rest. Just one of them is enough to obliterate an entire dimension. If Duel Academy decided to send them here, we wouldn't stand a chance."

The chairwoman gasped, covering her mouth in shock. Her confidence in Declan's grand plans to build his own 'Lancers'—a force to counter Duel Academy—was visibly crumbling.

"You think Yusho was able to infiltrate that?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at Declan's pensive expression. "Wrong."

Declan's confusion deepened, his eyes narrowing. "What do you mean?"

"You forget," I continued, leaning forward, "when Yusho first jumped dimensions, he didn't go straight to the Fusion Dimension. He landed in the Xyz Dimension first. That's where everything changed. Duel Academy invaded the Xyz Dimension shortly after, and from there, Yusho disappeared, which I already mentioned was the time he finally arrived in the Fusion dimension."

Declan's expression shifted as realization dawned on him, the puzzle pieces clicking together in his mind. "So, what you're saying is... when he faced my father, the Ten Shadows and half of Duel Academy's forces weren't even there?"

"Exactly." I nodded, my tone serious now. "When Duel Academy launched their attack on the Xyz Dimension, almost all their elite forces went with them. The only ones left behind were the Slifers. And let's not forget, no one—not even the Professor—expected someone to dare challenge him on his own turf. It was a surprise attack, plain and simple. And even then, Yusho still failed."

The chairwoman's face paled as she absorbed my words, the reality of the situation sinking in.

I leaned back again, fixing Declan with a sharp look. "Now things are different. Duel Academy isn't the same as it was back then. They're fortified, guarded around the clock. They've learned from their mistakes, and Leo Akaba is no fool. He knows we're out here, and he'll be ready for us."

Declan clenched his fists, his gaze dark and contemplative. His mother glanced at him, searching for reassurance, but none came. The weight of my warning hung heavy in the room.

"Face it," I added with a shrug, "whatever plan you've got cooking, it's going to take a hell of a lot more than some makeshift army to take on Duel Academy. This isn't a game anymore."

"Do you have any information on these Ten shadows? Their ranks, their decks, their names?" Declan asked, hoping desperately for some solid information he could use.

I nodded.

"I'd tell you more about most of them, but it's getting late, and I need to find Sora so we can head back for dinner," I said, my stomach rumbling on cue to emphasize the point. "For now, though, I'll tell you about the top three duellists I know."

I paused for a moment, gathering my thoughts. "The first is number five: Zane Truesdale, also known as 'The Kaiser.' His deck is centered around Cyber Dragons, and he's infamous for being a deadly second-turn player. Zane was one of the earliest and most powerful Obelisk Blue members at Duel Academy. He's a duelist you don't take lightly."

"The second," I continued, my voice lowering slightly, "is number four: Revenna. She's a cold-hearted and ruthless woman. I once heard a rumor that she requested a deathmatch against her own sister to prove her worth to the Professor—and she won decisively. She nearly turned her sister into a card before the Professor intervened for reasons no one really understands. Revenna wields a devastating mix of Shaddoll and Invoked cards and is feared as 'The Talent Killer.'" I hesitated, the memory of her lingering in my mind, and Declan noticed the flicker of conflict in my eyes.

"And finally," I said, my tone turning grim, "number three: Zerik, 'The Dragon Master.' This is someone you do not want to cross paths with. He's known for mastering all three types of Extra Deck summoning: Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz."

The chairwoman's eyes widened in shock, and she practically shouted, "There's someone in the Fusion Dimension who knows all three types of summoning?!" Her outburst startled the little girl sitting beside her, who flinched at the sudden noise. Declan's expression, however, only hardened.

"To think I believed I was the only one capable of such versatility," Declan murmured, his voice calm but heavy with realization. "It seems the world is far bigger than any of us imagine."

I nodded, sharing his sentiment. "Do you know what deck he uses?" Declan asked, his voice sharp with curiosity.

At the question, I grimaced. "He uses the Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck," I replied. The weight of those words hung in the air, and for a moment, no one spoke.

"Sir!" a voice shouted, agitated and urgent. The tone immediately caught everyone's attention.

Declan turned sharply, already on edge from everything Kai had told him. "What is it?" he demanded, his voice tense with worry. His mind raced with the possibility that Duel Academy was making its move.

"There's an incredible surge of Xyz and Fusion energy coming from the warehouse where Kai and Yuto had their duel!"

My ears perked up at that. Now, I was interested.

"Is it Duel Academy?" Declan asked, his tone grim.

The messenger nodded, looking pale. "We believe so. We've confirmed that a cloaked figure is duelling several individuals in blue uniforms—and Sora Pierce from the You Show Duel School is there too."

Before he could finish, he collapsed to the floor with a gasp. But I didn't care. Like a bullet, I shot forward, barging past him and taking off toward the warehouse.

My mind was blank, consumed by one thought: Sora's in danger. I had no time to think, no time to plan. All that mattered was getting there in time.

By the time the guard got up from his position Declan was already out the door, walking to his private stalking area.

"What's the details of this duel and how is it progressing. Tell me everything."

"The cloaked figure known as Yuma Tsukumo is fighting two people who call themselves obelisk members and Sora Pierce. Yuto and a man we believe to be the one attacking all our professors is behind him. And…" Declan raised his eyebrows at all this "It seems Yuma Tsukumo is winning!" This time Declan fully widened his eyes.

At the warehouse

"Go, Utopia! Rising Sun Slash!"

I arrived just in time to witness the devastating scene. Two Obelisk Blue members lay groaning on the ground in front of Sora, who stood frozen in fear. His small, tattered Frightfur Bear was dwarfed by the golden soldier standing before him, its imposing figure gleaming under the dim light. The number "39" etched into its left shoulder radiated an ominous energy.

I couldn't move. I couldn't even think. I just stood there in stunned silence as Utopia's attack came crashing down. The golden blade tore through Frightfur Bear with terrifying precision, its energy bursting through the roof of the warehouse. The impact was real—not just a duel but a violent explosion that sent debris flying everywhere.

Sora's battered body was hurled toward me, his small frame colliding into mine. He was scratched, bleeding, and utterly broken.

"You see," a voice rang out coldly, laced with malice, "this is what happens when you cross me."

I looked up to see the figure stepping forward. Yuma. His usual calm and stoic was replaced with a chilling fury. His gaze wasn't even on us; it was locked onto the two Obelisk Blue duelists, who now cowered before him.

"No, please don't!" they wailed, their voices trembling as they scrambled backward.

"Yes," Yuma sneered, his tone venomous, "that's it. Continue to beg. Continue to plead for mercy. It only makes my revenge sweeter—for my friends and family that YOU TURNED INTO CARDS!"

A brilliant, sinister purple light erupted from his duel disk, its glow bathing the warehouse in an unholy aura.

Sora and I could only watch in horror, paralyzed as the light enveloped the Obelisk duelists. Their terrified screams echoed in the warehouse until they were silenced, replaced by the soft thud of two cards hitting the floor.

The cards landed face-up, the agonized expressions of the two Obelisk students frozen in time. Their faces stared back at us, lifeless and trapped.

we couldn't move. we couldn't breathe. All we could do was stare, helpless, as the horrifying reality sank in.
