Chapter 2: HE'S AS GOOD AS THE SUSPECT
**Episode 2**
"Yes, it's Kim Min-Jun, the leader of the boys group.."He declared with certainty, standing frame and looking up at the detective.
Detective Jun's look up to the receptionist at well, his notebook slipped closed from his grasp as the name hit him like a bolt of lightning. "What? Are you absolutely sure?"
"Yes, detective," He said boldly and then went even further, "I actually noticed something odd about his appearance when he arrived that day. He was dressed entirely in black, wearing a cap that obscured his face and a mask over his nose. I didn't even recognize him at first until he mentioned his name." He explained confidently.
"That's not unusual for celebrities," Detective Jun replied, trying to maintain his composure but the whole situation was getting even interesting.
"I understand, but he didn't have any bodyguards or bouncers with him." He move bit closer to detective Jun and said, more like a whisper, "I also heard that Kim Min-Jun and actress Park A-Yeong broke up just a week ago. Don't you think he could be involved in her death?" The receptionist's voice was filled with concern, and Detective Jun wondered why he was sharing such potentially damaging information.
It's truth rumor had it that the star actress and the leader of the K-pop boy group were secretly dating. The public was so against it, most especially the fans of actress Park A-yoeng, as they claim that Kim Min-Jun isn't Worthy of their idol and claim he's only using her to grow his celebrity status. Just days earlier, rumor had it that they ended the relationship__ and now this..
"Do you realize giving false statement would cost you no good?" Detective Jun asked and the receptionist confident wasn't shaken off.
"Actress Park A-Yeong was my favorite idol. I was her biggest fan. Do if there's anything I can do to help her bring the killer to justice, I'll gladly partake. I want to help find her murderer. Everything i said here is nothing but the whole truth." The receptionist said earnestly.
Detective Jun sighed, realizing the receptionist's passion made sense. He further demanded to see the surveillance camera of the hotel and the receptionist lead him to into the room.
As Detective Jun reviewed the footage, he saw Kim Min-Jun enter Park A-Yeong's room in a hurry. Twenty-two minutes later, he exited just as quickly and without the face mask on, his hands shoved deep in his pockets as he rushed out of the hotel.
"That's enough evidence," Detective Jun thought, pulling out his phone to call for backup. "I've found the murderer. It's Kim Min-Jun of the Nova X boys Group."
The news of the beloved star actress and model Park A-yeong's tragic death had sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, dominating headlines, magazines, and social media. In the living room of their company, the members of the Nova X boys group sat in stunned silence, grappling with the reality of the situation. All except for Kim Min-Jun, who lounged by the shimmering swimming pool at the company, blissfully unaware of the chaos unfolding inside.
His phone buzzed incessantly, but he chose to ignore it, muttering to himself that he didn't want to be disturbed. Just then, a message notification popped up on his screen. It was from Manager Ma: "Min-Jun, answer the phone quick." It reads.
And just then, the phone rang again. With a sigh, he finally picked it up.
"Hello, Manager Ma, what's up? Am I getting a contract?" he joked, fully expecting a reprimand for his negligence.
"It could have been better if that were the case. Are you home?" Manager Ma's voice was tense.
"Nope, I'm at the company right now, but I'll be heading home soon."
"Have you seen the news?"
"What news?"
"Check your phone, see for yourself. I'm on my way to the company. Don't go anywhere."
"Okay, I'll do that when I'm done here..."
"Do it now!" he barked before hanging up.
Min-Jun frowned, puzzled by the sudden seriousness in his manager's tone. "What's wrong with him? Why is he all serious and yelling?" he murmured, still not taking him seriously.
He picked up his phone and opened the news app, taking the whole situation lightly but as he scrolled, his sunglasses slipped from his face and clattered to the ground. His eyes widened in horror as the headline blared: "Actress Park A-yeong Found Dead in her hotel room this morning."
"What the hell! No, no, no, this can't be true! She can't be dead!" Panic surged through him, and he shot up from his lounge chair just as Manager Ma arrived in his car. He hurried down to Min Jun, breathless and frantic.
"Have you seen it yet?" he demanded, urgency etched on his face.
"This isn't true, right? How could A-yeong be dead? When did this happen?" Min-Jun's voice trembled anxiously.
"Since this morning, I guess. The reports say she was murdered thirty hours before she was found dead by a staff member at the hotel in her room."
"But she was perfectly fine when I saw her yesterday__"
"And that's the problem we have now!" Manager Ma yelled curtly. "You stubbornly went to the hotel to see her after I warned you not to go."
"I had no choice! You know that! But how is it the problem?"
Manager Ma glared at him. No matter how dull headed he's, he's still supposed to know he'll be in a bigger problem if the police finds out he was the last visitor she received before her demised.
"She was murdered thirty hours earlier—the exact time you left her at the hotel." Manager Ma explained, making him realized the mess he got himself into. His phone hold onto tightly in his trembling hand. "Did anyone see you there?"
He shook his head, he face buried to the ground, already regretting his actions. If only he could predict this would happen, he won't have visited her at the hotel yesterday.
"I was in disguise the whole time. I only took off my mask right before entering her room, but I'm sure nobody saw me."
"Do you realize there are cameras everywhere?"
Before Min-Jun could respond, the sound of sirens pierced the air, and police cars pulled up outside the company.
"Let me handle this," Manager Ma said, his expression hardening.
The other members of Nova X rushed outside, their faces turned into a mix of confusion and concern. "What's going on? Why are the cops here?" Ji-ho asked, his brow furrowed and the other stood stunned. Not in a moment did they imagine this could be all about the demised of the actress.
Detective Jun stepped forward, flanked by several officers, and flashed his ID. "I'm Detective Jun, and these are my assistants."
"I'm Manager Ma. How can I help you?" Manager Ma speaks, already aware of the situation that's about to unfold. If only he'd acted fast and take Min-Jun away before the police got to them.
"We're here to take Kim Min-Jun into custody for the murder of actress Park A-yeong."
