Chapter 1: Open Sky
If there are daffodils around bring joyful memories of the promises of a triumphant in Christ. "I will most certainly believe that if you do," Opal Hershberger said tearfully, the doctor said she had cancer of her uterus. It must be removed. Thankfully it is contained. We will just take it out, and schedule a surgery right away. As Chloe handed her a daffodil plant. Hugged her, the daffodil is a popular plant to ward off cancer in prayer.
Tears spilled down her cheeks, onto the table where they sat drinking kaffi called The Cafe Coffe House. Chloe handed her another napkin to blow her nose. Best friends since small kinner. Their Mother's's Best friends also.
Opal: " My plans shattered forever having more kin," Suck sobbing by this time it was so painful. She hadn't been married yet, a shock at her age twenty-three years old.
Chloe: " The lord will come through with a plan for you my friend. Your plans are all in his hands, please dry your tears."
Right then Amos Troyer, walked over and sat down. He lifted his hat to them both in greeting. " Hello, ladies what's up with Opal crying there? Chewing on a toothpick, twisted it with his left-hand fingers then continued talking. He took a large red handkerchief out to wipe her face and blow her nose. She smiled right then.
Chloe: " She finally smiled at Amos seeing you. Danke, you have the best medicine.
Opal: Thanks so much Amos, I'm so glad you happened to walk in today. You're a big help in lifting my spirits as you have.
Amos: " I have a gut idea then let's go somewhere together for fun. What evening is best for you? Let's go to a singing square dance.
Opal: Saturday night, is best ."
He agreed on it pick-up time of five in the evening. Agreed I shall pick you up then. I'm never late. I promise it will be fun. Certain things that are not able to be seen have become visible in the future looking brighter.
God has a way of dealing with our pain. Fortunately for Opal being so young and never married. Their order arrived with a large order of fries and soft drinks. By this time Amos had left to go to work.
More Mennonites came through some even were friends they both knew from church. Both young ladies waved. There goes, Thea looking as pretty as ever model for the Mennonite lady's apparel. A mail-order catalog, her family is hog Farmers for a refinery.
Then Anna May Hostetler with her also waved to us. She is also Mennonite, home after living away and going to a Mennonite College. She will be teaching in a private school here in town.
They have the best fries ever sold right at this Restaurant. And sure enough, take out orders, malteds, hamburgers, maid rites. Famous for being the largest breaded tenderloin around.
Chloe Peachy, her family-owned and operated Peachy Farms. An exceptional place to buy steaks from and is noted for it everywhere. She would stick with delivering horses.
The small talk became easier between them, not so tearful for reasons of worry. Her surgery is set for next month, not so far off to worry about it. Yet soon enough to get it over, being able to live her life moving forward to what is next.
