A Different Doraemon World

Chapter 20: Black Spot

The group of four quickly arrived at a beautiful riverside. Spanning the river was a bridge, while lush green meadows stretched along both banks. Kelly led the group down to the riverbank, stopping under the bridge. Smiling, she said, "This place is relatively quiet. When I'm stressed, I often come here to relax!"

"There's a similar spot in my neighborhood. I often go there to relieve stress too!" Nobita remarked cheerfully, feeling the fresh and invigorating air.

Doraemon sat down and took out a small device resembling a handheld transmitter. It featured a screen on top and a green touch-sensitive panel below it. He tapped on the panel, and the device emitted a series of "beep… beep…" sounds as a radar-like image appeared on the screen.

Calmly, Doraemon explained, "This is called an integrated wave emitter. It can emit various types of waves. Right now, I'm tuning it to disable all electronic devices. Once activated, every robot on Earth will cease functioning. For now, we'll leave it like this. After resolving the threat, we'll discuss matters with the current human leaders."

"Wait, Doraemon! If all electronic devices suddenly shut down, the consequences would be catastrophic. Robots aren't the only electronic devices on Earth!" Karen and Kelly protested, stopping him.

"I know. I'm adjusting the frequency to target only the robots. Let's see... the frequency of these robots..." Doraemon explained as he focused on fine-tuning the device.

"Got it!" Doraemon quickly found the robots' frequency and pressed the button to activate the transmitter... but nothing happened.

"Is something wrong, Doraemon?" Nobita asked, looking around, and then he ran outside to check, only to see the robots on the bridge continuing their activities as if nothing had happened. Everything still seemed normal.

"This is strange..." Doraemon muttered, letting the device debug itself. After a moment, he frowned and said, "There's an electromagnetic wave interfering with it."

"An electromagnetic wave...?" Karen mused. Earlier, during their trips back and forth, the time machine had also been disrupted by an unidentified electromagnetic pulse. Now, Doraemon's device was encountering a similar interference. She couldn't help but wonder if the two were connected.

"This electromagnetic wave seems identical to the electromagnetic pulse that interfered with the time machine. Damn it, I'll try to trace its source!" Doraemon confirmed Karen's suspicion, stating that the two not only were related but originated from the same source too.

Kelly grew tense upon hearing this. "It's like we're being targeted. But how could it disrupt us even in the time tunnel? If it's a natural occurrence, that's one thing, but... could there really be another advanced life form on Earth besides the Përjetësia?"

Doraemon didn't answer Kelly. Instead, he focused on locating the source of the wave. When he found it, his expression turned to shock. He dashed out from under the bridge and pointed to the sky. "The source of the wave is… the Sun!"

"The Sun?!" the three exclaimed in astonishment, hurrying after Doraemon and looking up at the sky in confusion.

Doraemon pulled out a tablet and connected it to the wave emitter. After synchronizing the data, an image of the Sun appeared on the screen. The group crowded around to observe. They noticed, on the Sun's surface, something seemed to be moving. Zooming in, they saw a black spot. Though small compared to the Sun, it was continuously growing. Its growth didn't appear very fast at first glance, but Doraemon knew that in just a few days, the black spot would become visible from Earth.

"Why is there a black spot on the Sun? And why is it growing?" Nobita asked, puzzled. Meanwhile, Kelly and Karen's expressions turned grim before they quickly calmed themselves. After all, they had already experienced too many shocking events today.

Doraemon opened a data summary on the tablet and said gravely, "This black spot has an outer surface temperature of -270°C. It is expanding at an incredibly rapid pace. Due to the intense activity of the black spot, the Sun is generating massive magnetic storms. These storms have a significant impact on electronic devices… This might be the reason why the robots suddenly started attacking humans!"

"Wait, if that's the case, then the magnetic storms should have affected all electronic devices, right? But in the next few days, when the war breaks out, it seems that only robots and certain devices and weapons are impacted!" Kelly said in confusion.

Karen frowned. She didn't like where her thoughts were leading but decided to share them. "The waves not only disrupted the time machine in the time tunnel but also specifically prevented us from disabling the robots. This isn't a coincidence—it's deliberate. But how could that be? If these storms originate from the Sun, how can they be selective? The Sun shouldn't be able to decide anything... unless..."

"The Sun has a consciousness of its own..." Doraemon finished Karen's sentence. Hearing this confirmation, all three shivered involuntarily.
