Chapter 2: NOT A DREAM
I gasped loudly as I opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling.
Everywhere was dark and for a moment I couldn't move. I was on my bed meaning I had been sleeping.
But the dream felt real!
"Are you sure about that?"
Someone spoke beside me on the bed and every working cell in my body seemed to have gone still in fear.
I could feel the person's breath against my cheek and it made the hair on my skin stand.
With care, I slowly turned my face to the left and found a pair of red eyes staring back at me.
"Don't you miss me?"
In a loud voice, I screamed and shut my eyes closed as I tried to scramble out of bed.
Strangely, when I fell to the floor and opened my eyes, everywhere was bright with the sun rays seeping into my room.
In terror, I quickly got on my feet and looked around to be sure I wasn't mistaking everything.
There was no one on my bed nor was there anyone in my room.
"It was just a dream," I sighed in relief and that was when the door to my room came open.
"Anything the problem honey? Did you lose something this time as well?"
I blinked at her question before slowly shaking my head.
"Alright then. Make sure you clean up and come have breakfast because we can't be late for the town's meeting today." She reminded me and I nodded before she left.
Sitting back on my bed, I frowned.
Everything felt so real and I could still feel it.
I saw him. It was him. Or was my brain playing tricks on me?
As for the town's meeting, I was already tired of it. It was the usual yearly tradition, reminding everyone to steer clear of any abomination that will defile the land -Mostly Halloween practice or being involved in it.
They always remind us five days before the said Halloween day.
"It's not like they've seen a werewolf or stuff like that to ban it," I groaned to myself as I headed to the bathroom to shower.
"And supposing you came in contact with one, would you support them in banning Halloween?"
"Of course not," I said and went to pick up my toothbrush.
However, I froze and quickly looked around in shock.
"Who's there?" I demanded but no response came.
I was certain someone spoke because how could I just respond out of the blue.
Confused, I faced the mirror again while making sure to be aware of my surroundings.
"FRANCES!"
At the call of my name I screamed and looked around but when the door opened, it turned out to be my mother.
"Didn't you hear when I called you the first time?" She inquired with a frown on her face.
"No…" I answered while trying to calm my racing heart.
"Rene is here," she informed me and I nodded before she left.
Facing the mirror, I heaved a sigh of relief.
Was I beginning to hear things?
In a hurry I got ready and headed to the living room to meet Rene.
The moment she saw me, she got up and rushed at me.
"Frances, what happened last night?"
At her question I blinked in confusion.
"What do you mean, Rene?"
"Don't you remember? The game?"
"What game?" I inquired.
"The box game! Don't you remember?"
"We never did that," I let her know and she glared at me.
"We did! Don't you remember the questions? What you fear the most and who you lost?" She reminded me and my eyes widened as fear seized me.
"Wh…what do you mean?"
"We were all there! Don't you remember?" There was so much worry and fear in her eyes.
"I thought it was a dream." I said as my lips trembled.
"Do you know who that person is? Please tell me you do because we're in big trouble." She pleaded but I remained silent as I was taken back to what I thought was a dream.
Did that really happen?
Was Logan really there?
No! That's impossible!
Logan was dead! D-E-A-D!
And last night I saw him? How? How was that even possible?
"FRANCES!" Rene called for my attention and I blinked as I focused my gaze on her.
"WHO IS HE! AND HOW DO YOU KNOW HIM?"
