Chapter 65: God on Earth (2)

Lightning stroked through the air as an explosion shot rippled through the dark ocean which swayed below Kai dangerously. The ocean churned violently from the lingering effects of Kai's last barrage as he continued to fly just out of reach from the lunges of clan night.

"Of course, I have to fight the sea creatures in water! Just my luck" Kai said with a roll of his eyes. His focused turned to the roars of the leviathan, which rang through his ears with force as well as the snapping teeth of a gigantic shark that swam only a few meters below the surface.

Sixteen colossal sea creatures were below him, swirling under the ocean with deadly intent as they waited for Kai to come within range of their attacks. Currently, they were at a stalemate.

Kai did not have enough arrows to continue to rain lightning down on the saints, and the colossal creatures did not have the manoeuvrability to catch someone as slippery as Kai midair. Sighing, Kai took a moment to continue to analyse the creatures below him.

The water gleamed with their bioluminescent scales and sharp fins. The orca, who Kai remembered was once Saint Bloodwave, breached the surface, letting out a battle cry. Kai's focus shifted towards it slightly as the tentacles from the kraken began surging high into the sky, prepared to pull him below.

Releasing an arrow, Kai struck where he predicted was the krakens centre mass. The sea erupted as tentacles flailed, writhing in agony. But the leviathan surged forward, its massive jaws snapping through the air with murderous intent as it soared only a few feet below Kai.

Taking advantage of it's airborne form, Kai shot three arrows into the creatures spine, blood erupted from the open wounds as the gigantic whale descended beneath the water once more, leaving a trail of blood wherever it swam.

"At least I can track it...for now." Kai thought aloud. Stretching midair, Kai activated his transformation ability as his form quickly shifted into a golden wyvern. In a split second, he dove into the ocean with an earth-shattering crash.

He wasn't quite sure how dragon's would fare underwater; however, he had read enough fairy tales to know that something like this at least had relative levels of plausibility. And in a battle of life and death, this was all he needed.

Flames spewed from his maw as he strafed the creatures, the water quickly erupted into steam under the heat of his flames as he forced the shark, lionfish and eel-like monstrosity to move backwards, attempting to gain distance from him.

Although they were faster underwater, his wings and feet allowed him to keep up relatively as he chased after them. Forcing himself to a stop, he watched as the Kraken's tentacles erupted where he would have been only a moment later before he dove deeper to meet the creature.

The ocean depths were darker than Kai had expected. His wyvern form glimmered faintly, his flames barely flickering in the cold depths of the water. Usually, such depths would be unable to affect a supreme being such as himself, however one that was created by a godlike entity was a different matter.

A silhouette encroached on his position with immense speed as Kai moved to the left to avoid the ramming blow the leviathan had in stall for him. Reacting quickly, he bit into the side of the leviathan before shaking his head to tear off a piece of it's flesh.

Although injured, the leviathan quickly spun around responding with a bite of it's own. Its teeth sunk into Kai's flesh, intelligently gliding past the gaps in his armour as blood spewed from the wound. Slapping the leviathan off with his tail, Kai was forced to swim away from another onslaught from the Kraken.

'That squid is dying first' Kai thought to himself, he was in no position to use his ascended ability to command the creatures lest water invade his lungs rapidly. However if he got close enough he was sure he could incinerate the gigantic squid with one focused burst of his flames.

And that was what he intended to do.

Though his speed was diminished underwater, Kai crossed the distance in a burst of speed as his teeth sank into the head of the kraken. It's tentacles coiled around his form as they began to compress with monumental force however Kai was faster.

Beating all the other sea creatures to the chase, Kai released a concentrated burst of flames into the head of the Kraken. Bubbles surged from the steaming body of the creature, surrounding Kai in a brief form of camouflage as the spell sang in his ear.

He had killed the Saint. 'That was a person, that person had a family' These thoughts of weakness were strangled immediately as Kai focused on the new oncoming threats. His moment of freedom was short lived as a great white shark darted in, grazing Kai's wing.

Kai bellowed in pain, swiping at it with his tail however the shark spun away nimbly avoiding the counterattack. The lionfish behind him, however, was ready for this moment of weakness. It's venomous spines sliced through the water towards him as Kai turned his head back sensing its presence.

Twisting his body, he managed to avoid the worst of the spines however one grazed his shoulder, sending a searing pain throughout his arm. The poison slowed his movements as Kai quickly darted for the surface. Thankfully, his burst of speed caught the Saints by surprise as he quickly emerged from the water, flying onto solid land and crash landing.

Soon enough, he dismissed his transformation ability as he sat in his tattered clothing, vomiting a wad of blood onto the floor. Morgan was at his side in an instant, tearing off a piece of clothing before wrapping it around Kai's shoulder to stem the bleeding.

Extending her arms, Kai felt slightly rejuvenated as he looked up at Morgan with surprise. A serious expression was painted across her face as she watched his wounds slowly close, as a sigh of relief escaped her mouth.

"Since when could you heal?" Kai asked tiredly, Morgan shook her head before responding "It's forced cellular activation, not healing. It's a far cry from what Nephis can do but it will help stem the bleeding. What happened down there!"

Her expression was riddled with worry that forced out a tired smile from Kai, "I killed one of them, however I don't know how I'm supposed to kill the other fifteen in their home territory no less. The best I can do is hope to trade blows and kill them with flames. Which isn't working out the best for me right now."

His explanation caused a contemplative grimace to appear on Morgan's face. Staring at the ocean, Morgan raised a hand to her chin for a moment as battle strategies flew through her mind. "You don't need to kill them underwater."

Kai raised an eyebrow at her statement, before beckoning her to continue "Just send them onto land, throw them up here if you must. They'll be forced to either retreat into the sea, while I pick them off as they run or fight the two of us on land. Their transformations will be ineffective if not water bound, no?"

Nodding tentatively, Kai slowly rose to his feet as Morgan met him. His eyes glowed golden with resolve as he activated his transformation ability once more. Flying into the air, Kai released a torrent of flames onto the surface of the ocean as steam erupted from the murky waters.

As the water bubbled, almost screaming in agony under the heat of his flames. Kai used the opportunity to dive into the ocean unheard, as he approached his next victim with immense speeds.

Morgan, who stood on the surface with a look of surprise painted across her face suddenly allowed a proud smile to cross her face as she folded her arms. Looking around to make sure no others were present, she let out a teen like exclamation, hoping to boost his resolve wherever he was.

"That's my boyfriend!"
