Chapter 3:
Chapter 3: Now That I’m Done Talking, You Can Hit Me Now:
Lin Yuan stepped onto the first floor from the underground garage. His gaze swept past Lin You, who was standing near the stairs, and fell on the living room.
There, Lin Tianyang sat on the sofa, supported by Lao Qin and Lan Lin, looking weak and fragile.
When Lin Yuan entered, Tianyang straightened up slightly, his face full of forced strength, and whispered, “Dad…”
Lin Yuan’s expression shifted instantly. He strode across the room, covering the seven or eight meters in a few quick steps. Kneeling beside Tianyang, he gently lifted his adopted son’s head. “Don’t move, son. What happened to you?” he asked, his voice soft and full of concern.
Tianyang took on an exaggeratedly pitiful demeanor, struggling to sit upright. A bubble escaped from his nostrils as he hiccuped and muttered, “I fell in… I was careless…”
“Dad… please don’t make things difficult for my brother because of me…” he added weakly.
Lin Yuan’s expression hardened as he abruptly stood and walked toward Lin You. His face twisted in anger as he glared at him. “You beast! You won’t stop until you cause real harm one day!”
To Lin Yuan, the adopted son was a treasure, while his biological son was nothing but a beast.
If Tianyang claimed the moon was square, then the moon was square. No matter how much Lin You argued that it was round, no one would believe him.
Startled by Lin Yuan’s raised voice, Tianyang flinched, looking even more pitiful.
Lan Lin, sitting beside Tianyang, frowned at her husband. “Old Lin, can’t you speak more gently? You’re scaring our son.”
Tianyang quickly reassured her, his tone filled with forced strength. “Mom, it’s okay. It’s all my fault… I was careless…”
Lin Yuan, his anger undeterred, rolled up his sleeves and glared at Lin You. “What do you have to say for yourself? If you don’t tell the truth today, I’ll show you how I handle disobedience.”
“Dad!” Lin You called out, but Lin Yuan interrupted him. “Don’t call me dad. I don’t have a son like you.”
With that, Lin Yuan raised his hand and struck Lin You.
Lin You staggered back, raising his hand to shield himself.
“Mr. Lin,” he said firmly, “I have something to say. At least let me finish before you act.”
Lan Lin hugged Tianyang protectively, muttering to her husband, “Old Lin, you really need to stop hitting people. Last time you hit him so hard, your hand swelled up. Can’t you just use a hanger next time?”
Lin You smiled bitterly at her remark. This “caring” mother had once accused him of stealing her bracelet, only to later find it in his schoolbag. That time, Lin Yuan had beaten him with a hanger.
Lin Yuan paused, momentarily startled by Lin You’s sudden composure. This wasn’t the timid, submissive son he remembered.
Lin Xiaotong and Lin Shiyan were equally surprised.
In the past, Lin You would have immediately bowed his head, admitted fault, and begged to remain in the family.
Lin You straightened himself and took a deep breath. “Yes, I pushed Lin Tianyang into the pool,” he said without hesitation. “When I saw him standing by the pool and he didn’t even greet me, I got angry and pushed him in.”
“You—!” Lin Yuan roared, his fury reigniting as he raised his hand again.
Lin Shiyan stepped in with an authoritative tone. “You’re sixteen years old, Lin You. You can be held criminally responsible now. Do you understand? What you did constitutes intentional harm!”
Lin Xiaotong sighed deeply, shaking her head in disappointment. “Why are you like this, Lin You? It’s not enough that we’ve tried to care for you—now you’re resorting to such cruel behavior?”
Lan Lin broke into tears, clutching Tianyang tightly. “Lin You, what did Mom do wrong? Tell me! Was I unfair to you? Was I too strict?”
She sobbed, “If you were even half as good as Tianyang, you’d save me so much worry.”
Lin You interrupted with a bitter laugh. “Don’t. Don’t blame yourself, Mom. I’ll remember your ‘kindness’ to me forever. But let me tell you, the wrongs I’ve done don’t stop here.”
Turning to Lin Shiyan, he said, “Second sister—or should I say Ms. Lin—remember when you thought someone peeped at you in the shower? You all blamed me, and I denied it.”
He smirked. “Well, I’m admitting it now. I did it.”
“You—!” Lin Shiyan’s face turned red with rage and shame. “You shameless bastard!”
Lin You then turned to Lin Xiaotong. She recoiled, her body tense. “You little pervert! Have you spied on me too?”
“No,” Lin You replied flatly. “But remember when you gave Mr. Lu a watch as a gift? I swapped it with a toad. I apologize for that.”
He bowed to her, ignoring her furious glare.
Next, he addressed Lan Lin. “Mom, besides stealing your bracelet, I also took the Patek Philippe watch you bought for Lin Tianyang. I thought it was the same as the cheap watch you gave me for my birthday. If I’d known how expensive it was, I wouldn’t have dared to touch it.”
Lan Lin froze, guilt flickering in her eyes. She remembered buying Lin You a basic watch worth a couple of hundred yuan, while Tianyang had received a luxury Patek Philippe and additional gifts from his sisters.
The next day, Tianyang claimed his watch was missing and suggested he’d seen Lin You in his room. The accusation had stuck ever since.
Hearing Lin You’s confession, Tianyang feigned shock. “Brother, you didn’t have to steal it. If you wanted it, I would’ve given it to you…”
Lin You ignored him and turned back to Lan Lin. “Mom, do you remember your VIP dog?”
Lan Lin’s eyes widened. “Don’t tell me you sold him?! I searched for him for months. How could you be so heartless?”
“No, Mom,” Lin You said, his tone sharp. “I didn’t sell him. I killed him… and ate him.”
The room fell silent. Shocked expressions froze on everyone’s faces. Even Lin Yuan’s anger faltered as he stared at his son.
Lin You turned his gaze to Lin Yuan. “Mr. Lin, do you remember your deal with the Dingcheng Group over the western suburbs land?”
Lin Yuan’s face darkened. “It was you?! Are you really capable of such things?”
“I exposed the scandal,” Lin You said calmly. “I filmed your private transaction with their vice president and posted the video online.”
He looked Lin Yuan in the eye, unflinching. “Now I’ve said everything. You can hit me.”
