After half an hour, the waves slowly grew bigger. Gu Huai stood up, intending to call Mu Ci back. However, when he opened his eyes, he realized that Mu Ci had already ventured into the depths of the sea, with the rising waves nearly engulfing him. Mu Ci, clutching the puppy in both hands, struggled to make his way back.
At that moment, all the blood in Gu Huai’s body turned cold. He rushed into the sea with lightning speed, swam over, felt for Mu Ci’s arm amidst the waves, tightly grasped him, and pulled him back towards the shore.
Fortunately, it wasn’t yet low tide, and the waves weren’t too rough. Gu Huai exerted considerable effort to bring Mu Ci back, but Mu Ci inevitably swallowed some water.
Before he could recover, Gu Huai threw him onto the beach and yelled, “What were you thinking? Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
This was the first time Gu Huai had spoken sternly to him since his attitude changed. Mu Ci, picking up the puppy next to him with some discomfort, explained in a low voice, “Ping An was swept into the waves, and I went to save it…”
Mu Ci still looked innocent, as if he believed he had acted rightly. Gu Huai felt a surge of anger rising within him. As he closed his eyes, he imagined Mu Ci being swept away by the sea just moments ago. If he had been a step slower, Mu Ci might have been lost to the ocean. The Pacific Ocean was vast; he wouldn’t have been able to find Mu Ci’s body.
Gu Huai gritted his teeth. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t suppress the fiery anger within him. “Risking your life for a mere animal? Mu Ci, don’t you understand the gravity of the situation?!” Gu Huai’s anger was palpable.
It was too terrifying. Mu Ci felt fear creeping into his heart, but he refused to yield. Setting aside Ping An, he stood up slowly, facing Gu Huai squarely. “This is a life, and I’ve raised it for a long time. You just don’t understand!”
Gu Huai hadn’t realized that in Mu Ci’s darkest moments, this seemingly naive creature provided him with immense comfort.
Gu Huai stared at Mu Ci’s stubborn face, wanting to vent his anger physically, but seeing Mu Ci’s pale complexion, he couldn’t bring himself to do it.
Yet, he couldn’t ignore this seething rage. The image of Mu Ci nearly being swallowed by the waves was etched in his mind, and he couldn’t shake it off.
Facing Mu Ci, especially his unwavering resolve, Gu Huai’s rationality threatened to unravel. He paced anxiously, his heart pounding with fury, determined to impart a painful lesson and make Mu Ci understand the gravity of his actions this time.

With eyes blazing, Gu Huai seized Mu Ci effortlessly, as if handling a child, and carried him to the lounge chair. He sat down, pinning Mu Ci securely on his lap, and reached to remove his loose shorts.
Mu Ci’s scalp felt numb, but he didn’t forget that there were guards patrolling in the distance. A lookout tower was set up on the high cliff over there, overlooking the beach through a telescope.
Mu Ci struggled desperately and shouted in panic, “What are you going to do?! Stop! Stop!”
Gu Huai grabbed his flailing hands, twisted them behind his back, pressed him down, and then raised his hand high, delivering a hard slap to Mu Ci’s buttocks.
“Do you think I won’t dare to discipline you?! Huh? You deserve to be disciplined with such a bad temper!”
Mu Ci was about to explode with anger. Despite being in his twenties, he couldn’t break free from being held down and beaten by a man, especially knowing that someone might be watching from a distance. Mu Ci felt his dignity being trampled upon.
“Let me go!” Mu Ci became furious and bit Gu Huai’s leg.
Gu Huai became even more angry and slapped Mu Ci’s buttocks several times without hesitation. “Tell me, will you dare to talk back to me next time?!”
Mu Ci was really hurt by the slaps, his eyes reddened, biting his lips without making a sound. Gu Huai gave his buttocks another hard squeeze. His fingers felt like iron pliers, cruelly causing the tender flesh to swell up. Mu Ci couldn’t help but scream.
Ping An ran over and bit Gu Huai’s trouser leg with his tail raised, but he was kicked away.

Mu Ci was in so much pain that sweat broke out on his forehead. He felt his buttocks must have been bruised and swollen from the spanking. He had seen servants being spanked before in the palace, but it had never been him.

Gu Huai was both angry and amused. He looked at Mu Ci’s swollen buttocks and realized he couldn’t spank him anymore.
He hugged Mu Ci’s waist, picked him up, retrieved his shorts, and put them back on him. Whispering close to his forehead, he said, “Why did I hit you? Wasn’t it because you were in danger all alone? This is still for your own good. If Bai Ling or any of his subordinates do something stupid like this, I will hang them up and whip them. I’m too soft on you.”
Mu Ci’s buttocks hurt so much and he didn’t want to sit peacefully on Gu Huai’s lap. He struggled, but Gu Huai came closer and threatened in a low voice, “Still moving? Do you think I didn’t hit you hard enough?”
Mu Ci immediately dared not move, but his face was still bad as he stared at Gu Huai in annoyance.
Gu Huai’s anger had dissipated, feeling that he had taught Mu Ci enough of a lesson. He patted his face and said with a smile, “Okay, stop glaring at me. I’ll take you back to check on your little butt.”
