Apocalypse Chat Group: Conquering the Heroines

Chapter 16: Chapter 16 – The Death of the Main

On the upper floors of the school building, a crowd of students watched as a jet-black jeep barreled through the campus.

Corpses were tossed aside like weightless dolls as the vehicle plowed through them, finally smashing open the main gates and escaping onto the road.

Once on the highway, Shizuka Marikawa spoke up.

"I have a friend nearby who has weapons at home, so we should head there."

With some breathing room, the group took the opportunity to talk.

"Excuse me… but who exactly are you? Are you angels? Or maybe superhumans?"

Saya Takagi couldn't hold back her curiosity any longer.

Exusiai's halo glowed brightly above her head, hovering and moving along with her.

Combined with the display of extraordinary powers from both Exusiai and Tatsuki, Saya's curiosity had reached its limit.

Exusiai chuckled, narrowing her eyes with a playful smile.

"I'm not an angel or a superhuman. I'm a Laterano citizen. You can call me Exusiai."

Tatsuki nodded in acknowledgment.

"As for me, I am a superhuman. I'm also Saeko's friend. My name is Tatsuki."

"I'm Saya Takagi," she introduced herself, though her mind was far from calm.

A powerful superhuman and someone who looked like an angel from another world—how on earth did Saeko-senpai meet people like this?

"I'm Rei Miyamoto," Rei said, her voice somber and subdued.

"And my name is Shizuka Marikawa. Tatsuki-kun, you seem to know me?"

Shizuka glanced at Tatsuki from the driver's seat, puzzled.

It seemed she didn't remember ever meeting him.

Tatsuki cast a glance at Saeko.

Understanding his cue, Saeko calmly explained, "I told Tatsuki-kun about you."

Shizuka nodded in realization. "Ah, that makes sense."

Meanwhile, Saya scrutinized the exchange between Tatsuki and Saeko.

She felt there was more to it but chose not to press further.

"Before anything else, we need to establish a plan," Tatsuki said, directing his words to Saeko.

"First, you need to understand that we can only stay here for five days."

"Second, our task is to assist in clearing the dead, not to eradicate them entirely."

"We currently don't have the means to eliminate all the dead. They've spread across the entire world."

"We can help temporarily, but you'll need to rely on your own strength to establish a safe zone. That's the only way to survive in the long term."

Tatsuki omitted a few of his suspicions, given the presence of others.

He strongly believed that the Apocalypse Chat Group wouldn't have them assist others for free.

In all likelihood, the better they performed, the higher their chances of receiving a reward.

That was the driving force behind his proactive approach—where there's benefit, there's motivation.

"You're only staying here for five days? Are you leaving for another place after that?" Saya Takagi asked worriedly.

Tatsuki didn't answer directly. Instead, he glanced at Saeko Busujima.

Saeko's eyes were clear and composed.

The Apocalypse Companion Mission was only set for five days. It was unrealistic to expect these two to stay and protect them indefinitely.

She redirected the conversation.

"Saya, you still want to find your parents, don't you?"

Saya bit her lip, then nodded resolutely. "Yes."

"Alright, once we get weapons from Shizuka-sensei's friend's house, we'll go find your parents."

"After that, we'll temporarily establish a safe zone somewhere secure," Saeko concluded decisively.

Throughout the discussion, Rei Miyamoto remained silent, her head bowed.

Tatsuki couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

He scanned the people in the vehicle and suddenly realized someone was missing.

"Huh? Where's Komuro Takashi?"

Curious, Tatsuki decided to probe with a question.

"Did only the people here make it out? What about your boyfriend? Didn't he escape with you?"

Saeko brushed her hair back smoothly.

"I don't have a boyfriend. I haven't met any guy worth my attention."

Her standards were now exceedingly high, especially after seeing the extraordinary abilities of someone like Tatsuki.

"I don't have a boyfriend either," Saya chimed in, folding her arms. "All the boys I've met so far are idiots who think with their lower halves."

Meanwhile, Shizuka Marikawa sighed with a tone of lament.

"Sensei here is just an aging leftover woman… sniff… sniff…"

Tatsuki nearly blurted out a retort. "Aging" was accurate, but she was stunning enough for age to hardly matter.

Then there was Rei Miyamoto.

Her expression was sorrowful, her lips pressed tightly together as she kept her head lowered in silence.

Noticing Rei's state, Saya sighed and patted her shoulder in an attempt to comfort her.

"Sigh… What's done is done. Takashi and Hisashi are gone now. We have to move forward."

"…"

Tatsuki was taken aback.

He already knew Igou Hisashi had died—but how had Komuro Takashi met his end?

This revelation reminded him once again: Reality and anime are two different things.

While the events may have some overlap, their outcomes are never set in stone.

Having learned the situation, Tatsuki chose not to press further, unwilling to poke at Rei's emotional wounds.

Closing his eyes as though resting, he instead opened the Apocalypse Chat Group.

Inside, March 7 had already messaged multiple times.

March 7: "@Tatsuki @Exusiai @Saeko Busujima, how's it going? Are you okay? Come on, answer me already!"

Tatsuki: "We're fine. We've rescued the group and are currently en route to pick up weapons and gear."

March 7: "Phew, that's good! You had me worried for so long! Angry Pam JPG."

"…"

Tatsuki was speechless.

Of course, March 7 had turned Pam's expression into a reaction meme.

Classic March 7.
