Link returned to his rented riverside workshop late at night. After a tiring day outside, he was not only exhausted but also troubled by the chaotic runes and numerous unresolved conflicts, which gave him a headache. He quickly entered the workshop, removed his exoskeleton suit, tossed the helmet onto the workbench, and lay down on the folding bed.

As he took off his exoskeleton, Gana had already made a round of the workshop. Upon seeing Link lying on the folding bed, she expressed her confusion, "There's a bedroom with a soft bed in the big room over there. Why are you sleeping here?"

Link, covered with a blanket, grunted in response to Gana's bewilderment. "I can't sleep well—"

"This place is just fine; it smells of oil and iron shavings, making it easier to sleep!" He waved his hand at Janna, signaling her not to bother him further.

Gana perched at the head of the folding bed, observing Link as he fell into a deep sleep. She tilted her head in curiosity. What a strange boy—though only seventeen or eighteen, he carried himself like someone in their thirties or forties, burdened with worries.

"What an unlovable little brat," she murmured softly. Noticing Link's arm sticking out from under the blanket, she gently lifted it back and tucked it in snugly.

Thus, they spent a silent night.

The next morning, Link was awakened by the sound of the doorbell outside. He jumped out of bed and rushed to his workbench. Grabbing his helmet, he suspiciously glanced toward the workshop door.

janna flew back from outside and landed on Link's head. "A little girl from Noxus and someone from Bilgewater are here looking for you."

"Noxian!" Link tightened his grip on the helmet instead of putting it down. "Are you sure she's Noxian?"

"I've seen more people than you've eaten bread; how could I be mistaken?" Gana pecked at Link's head disapprovingly. "Besides, that Noxian girl tried to disguise herself as a Zaunite, but she lacks any Zaunite scent and instead reeks of Noxian smoke and blood."

"Hmm." After thinking for a moment, Link took out a faint potion and hid it on himself before walking out of the workshop to greet his visitors.

As he reached the door, he saw Tamara waving at him.

"Hey, Link—"

"Tamara…" Link touched the faint potion on him; it seemed unnecessary now. "What brings you here?"

"Isn't it trouble you caused?" Tamara rolled her eyes and introduced the gentleman beside her. "This is Mr. Dylan Jackman."

Mr. Dylan nodded slightly at Link with a distant politeness.

"Hello, Mr. Dylan." After greeting him, Link turned his attention back to Tamara as she cleared her throat. "Mr. Dylan is here regarding matters with the Shrike Bird newspaper."

"Shrike Bird newspaper—" Link immediately understood; he had spent over nine hundred gold seas buying it to gain access to the Gilamann estate. However, that also meant inheriting its debts.

Dylan was there to collect those debts.

"Mr. Dylan, I know why you're here; let's skip the pleasantries and get straight to how much debt is owed by the Shrike Bird newspaper."

Dylan was taken aback by Link's straightforwardness but quickly responded with surprise at his candor: "Mr. Link, the Shrike Bird newspaper owes my company five thousand four hundred sixty-seven gold seas, eighteen silver wheels, and thirty-two copper rings."

"Do you accept checks?" Link asked casually. Dylan hesitated before nodding eagerly.

"Of course!"

"Wait here!" Link went back inside for a checkbook and handed one over to Dylan before sending him off.

After Dylan left, Tamara marveled from behind the iron gate: "Link, you're doing well now; giving away over five thousand gold seas just like that!"

"It's just small change," Link dismissed her comment lightly; after all, with over three hundred thousand gold seas in Gilamann's emergency account, five thousand was hardly significant.

"What about you? How have you been lately?" Leaning against the iron gate, Link watched as Tamara played with her hair.

"Just busy with research and making some extra money," she replied casually.

"By the way, did you know that they've set a date for the evaluation interviews?"

"Hmm?" Link raised an eyebrow at this unexpected news about resuming evaluations.

"I know it seems sudden; how can we small fries understand what those higher-ups are thinking?" Tamara shrugged before adding somewhat resentfully: "But now that you're doing well financially, attending should be no big deal for you!"

Link chuckled awkwardly; it felt rude not to invite her in for tea after she came all this way.

"I'm sorry; I'm really busy right now and need to continue my research," he explained apologetically.

"I understand! But don't forget you promised to hire me as your personal steward," Tamara winked playfully.

"Don't worry; I remember," Link smiled back. "I'll save you a spot!"

After sharing some light banter, Link watched as Tamara left.

Once she was gone, his smile faded away.

"janna, are you sure she's Noxian?"

"I've told you multiple times; I can tell who's Zaunite or not! That girl carries all sorts of Noxian scents—smoke and blood!"

"Tamara…" Link recalled her name while searching through his memories.

Thanks to his unique talent as someone cursed with knowledge, he could access his memories like flipping through a library catalog.

After pondering for a moment at the workshop entrance, he suddenly looked up sharply as realization hit him—he remembered who Tamara was!

In past stories like Evolution Day and Whispers Doodad, there had been mention of Noxian war masons. However, within Dual Cities, only one named war mason stood out: Maddy, who had approached Caitlyn under Ambessa's orders to gain her trust but ultimately betrayed her during a critical moment before being shot by Mel's magic shield.

"So it was her!" As recollection dawned upon him about Tamara's true identity, he furrowed his brow deeply. "Tamara exposed herself during Evolution Day for another war mason to pass through evaluations."

Moreover, Tamara likely wasn't aligned with Ambessa since she appeared alongside Draven in Whispers Doodad.

"In other words," he concluded grimly, "she must be affiliated with Swain or Darius."

Link pondered this while returning inside to check his mailbox—still no replies yet—and recalled that another version of Singed had promised him part of his payment once Singed relocated his lab and provided an opportunity for Orianna's photo shoot.

He opened his mailbox intending to jot down reminders:

To-Do List:

Jinx's ten-day agreement;

Agreement with Singed from another timeline;

Helping Singed relocate his lab;

Resolving Vander's moral crisis;

Assisting Ekko with energy erosion issues;

Helping Janna spread her teachings;

Finding solutions for chaotic runes.

Looking over his organized notes reminded him that Jinx's issue wasn't urgent; currently prioritizing Singed's lab relocation was crucial since only then could he tackle Jinx's ten-day agreement effectively.

Assisting Ekko would be straightforward—just need Singed's potions for that.

As for chaotic runes? No leads yet; best postponed for now.

Finally regarding Gana's teachings—

After contemplating briefly, he turned to janna who was idly blowing wind inside the workshop: "Gana, is there anything specific I should keep in mind while spreading your teachings?"

Gana flew up excitedly at this question: "Are you finally coming around?"

Glancing again at his notes before replying nonchalantly: "If you say so!"

"Ahem! Spreading my teachings is quite simple," janna explained earnestly: "You just need to share my stories and gospel so people remember me vividly."

"And then transform that impression into faith in me—that completes your task."

"Hmmm…" After considering this carefully for a moment before asking: "So essentially making people have strong impressions of you?"

"That's one way to put it," janna nodded proudly but added: "However! This impression should ideally be accompanied by strong emotions!"

"Oh! I see." Curious about further details, Link continued: "Should those emotions be positive or negative?"

"Both work!" Gana chirped cheerfully: "Positive emotions convert quickly into faith while negative ones need reversing—but once transformed into faith they often surpass positive feelings!"

"In other words," Link summarized thoughtfully: "You want me to craft an image that makes people both love and hate you?"

"What kind of talk is that!" janna huffed indignantly while sending forth a gentle breeze toward him. "I am your goddess!"

Not engaging further in banter with Janna as ideas began forming in his mind,

"Janna," he asked suddenly intrigued: "Would you be interested in becoming a reporter?"
