A day later,

In Zaun, within a certain pipeline.

"Tsk—" A black-skinned boy with messy dreadlocks leaned against the wall of the pipeline, letting out an annoyed click of his tongue.

Seeing him like this, the fluffy Heimerdinger couldn't help but speak up: "Listen, Ekko, I know you have some minor grievances regarding that divine being!"

Heimerdinger pinched his fingers, leaving a slight gap between them.

"But take my advice, Ekko!" Heimerdinger patiently counseled. "I understand that you're troubled by the current situation and feel restless about the endless chaos regarding the future. However, you cannot take your frustrations out on others."

"Moreover, to move forward, one must have a strong heart."

"I know, Heimerdinger—" Ekko's eyelids drooped, his expression conflicted. "But I just... just... sigh!"

"I understand you, Ekko! I understand!" Heimerdinger stepped closer to Ekko and patted his leg. "You have plenty of time; take it slow and you'll manage."

"By the way, when is that guy supposed to arrive?" Ekko looked around, not seeing the person who had come three days prior.

"Well, he is a divine being; he wouldn't lie. He should—" Before Heimerdinger could finish his sentence, a gust of wind surged through the pipeline, making it difficult for both of them to open their eyes as their clothes flapped noisily.

When the wind subsided, Ekko lowered his arm from shielding his face and blinked.

"This wind—"

"Look, Ekko!" Heimerdinger suddenly exclaimed. Following his voice, Ekko saw a package with a note attached that read "For Ekko."

"Is this something that guy sent me?" Ekko took the package from Heimerdinger and opened it to find a letter, a vial of potion, and a syringe.

As he opened the letter, he found it contained a few simple and hasty sentences.

First was the usage method and precautions for the potion; afterward was an explanation for why he couldn't make it to their meeting.

"Ekko! What does it say?" Heimerdinger asked while glancing up. Ekko handed the letter to Heimerdinger. "He said he had a battle today and couldn't make it, so he had Janna deliver the items."

"Oh—" Heimerdinger quickly read through the letter's contents and nodded. "So Janna came by. I thought there was suddenly such a strong gust of wind!"

"Heimerdinger!" Ekko suddenly spoke up.

"What is it?" Heimerdinger replied.

"Do you think promoting Janna's faith within the Firelight Gang would work?"

"Janna is a kind and benevolent goddess who treats every follower well. Given how chaotic Zaun is right now, believing in Janna could provide you all with some assurance."

"Hmm, I understand. I'll discuss this with everyone when I get back."

....

Janna returned to the workshop riding on a gust of wind. As soon as she entered, she exclaimed: "Link! You unlovable little brat! You actually made me—a goddess—become a messenger!"

"Hey! It's a new era with new methods! It's no longer the time when blowing winds could garner masses of followers; you need to learn to keep up with the times!"

While adjusting his exoskeleton in front of him without looking up, Link replied: "Besides, isn't this just flapping your wings to get things done?"

"But delivering packages is still somewhat burdensome for me now."

"Don't worry! Once the evaluation meeting starts, I'll help you spread your teachings; just be patient for a bit longer!"

As Link spoke, he closed the chest armor of his exoskeleton and stepped back while looking at it with satisfaction.

After working tirelessly for a day and night without rest, he had finally completed upgrading the exoskeleton.

Although it was merely an upgrade and modification of the original exoskeleton design, its appearance was now drastically different.

First off, each limb was equipped with miniature electric engines to provide power; this made the armor on his limbs larger and thicker.

At first glance, it looked like each limb was fitted with tires from go-karts; however, compared to tires' wide shapes, these parts were more diamond-shaped and positioned on his forearms and shins.

Additionally, due to the newly added electric engines on each limb, the structure of this exoskeleton had also changed.

Unlike before when it was an integrated structure, this exoskeleton now resembled a puzzle where limbs and torso could be disassembled and reassembled individually.

This ensured that if any part of the exoskeleton sustained damage, it wouldn't affect the operation of other parts.

The torso housed dual-core engines located at the shoulder blades on his back—similar to two folded shoulder cannons.

If time allowed, Link would have indeed modified those two engines into shoulder cannons.

Moreover, due to its modular structure requiring assembly before wearing it meant he needed to don a tight bodysuit as an inner lining made from Yalun Dog fur covered by high-strength rubber coating on top.

As for his headgear—Link hadn't made any modifications there.

The spider helmet didn't require any changes; it was already sufficient as is.

"Always talking about helping me spread teachings—yet here you are busy with your scientific inventions!" Janna perched atop his spider helmet with an annoyed huff.

"I need some self-defense capabilities!" Link chuckled while saying to Janna: "Alright then; I need to start getting dressed now. Please step outside for me—my goddess!"

"Fine fine fine—" Janna rolled her eyes before turning around and leaving.

Before long, Link completed equipping himself and carried his helmet into Singed's laboratory.

This place had originally been a warehouse in the riverside workshop—it was spacious with thick walls and close to the canal docks; any accidents occurring here wouldn't affect the outside world.

Thus this became Link's testing ground for the clockwork electric exoskeleton.

As for Singed's belongings—they had all been temporarily moved elsewhere.

"Ready?"

Hearing movement from behind him, Singed paused adjusting Vander's alchemical pump and turned his gaze toward Link.

With just one glance Singed couldn't help but exclaim in admiration.

"No matter how many times I see it—your armor is breathtakingly beautiful!"

In response to Singed's praise, Link merely shrugged modestly.

"How is Vander doing?"

"He's ready; we can start at any time!"

"In that case—release him!"

Link raised his hand toward his chest where there was an activation button for the armor—a dial-style clockwork starter.

Link twisted the dial until it reached its limit; as soon as it popped up Singed pulled out a vial filled with thick blood.

"Well then—I'm starting now!"

Singed tossed the blood-filled vial toward Link; as it shattered before him Link pressed down on the popped-up dial simultaneously.

In an instant bright electrical sparks erupted from behind him while miniature electric engines in his limbs began operating as well.

Feeling himself being gradually "embraced" by the activated exoskeleton while turning the filter box on the right side of his spider helmet made it pop up before pressing down hard on it again.

Blue faint light flickered within the filter box as new faint potion made from blue sunflowers vaporized into mist while continuously supplying Link with energy.

As blue halos emerged around Link's black pupils while capillaries in his eyes swelled due to inhaling faint mist causing his heart to roar like an engine—he slowly exhaled a breath of murky air.

Thick plasma oozed freely across the ground while an iron-like bloody scent began wafting throughout the laboratory.

Vander began twitching restlessly as steam billowed from within his alchemical pump on his back causing spasms along his spine while pulling against chains binding him down which slowly slipped away from his flesh one by one.

As chains fell away Vander wrinkled up his nose causing layers of flesh folds to rise up as he slid toward ground level just at that moment when all hooks came loose—his eyes suddenly snapped open wide revealing blood-red irises.
