As a Rich Boy at the Academy

Chapter 3: Chapter 3 – Be Sure to Lay the Groundwork!

Tick-tock.

The maintenance workers sent by Rize were swiftly repairing the facilities inside the shrine.

From rusty faucets to pillars beginning to rot, they addressed everything.

Even though Yagitsune tried to maintain a normal facade, the contractors were repairing things they could not manage themselves.

"Uh, uh? Uh?"

Ayame Yagitsune watched, blinking in disbelief.

"Bocchan, here's your green tea."

"Thank you, Rize."

Since I'm trying to behave like a gentleman, I matched the mood by drinking green tea.

When I get back, I'll have to praise her for doing such a great job.

When there are others around, Rize acts like a sharp, cold maid straight out of a game.

But when it's just the two of us, she's a cute maid who behaves in a childlike manner.

"Yagitsune-nim, have some green tea here."

"Yes!? Ah, yes. Thank you. Hureup. …It's delicious!"

"Thank you."

Rize goes well with both green tea and black tea.

"So, do you now believe that I am the real Rouvelt Eldra?"

" of course. But to be able to help me like this…"

It's understandable to feel embarrassed about sudden repairs, but this is a good time to delve deeper.

"As the heir of Eldra, I've undergone extensive education for gifted children.

This includes learning about good places with positive energy."

"There's something like that in Eldra's gifted education course…!"

"And in my judgment, I believed this shrine to be a fine place that should never be left in its current state."

"Ah, ah…! Mr. Rouvelt…!"

At my words, Ayame Yagitsune was moved to tears.

It was only natural.

Though this was my first time meeting her, I'd learned about Ayame's efforts to maintain her shrine.

She poured her heart into preserving its history, promoting its benefits, and informing others of its significance.

Of course, such activities also involved bribing and pressuring people to gain traction.

Now, as she stood on the edge of a cliff, I extended my hand to help by saying I'd handle the repairs and support.

Having experienced neglect and hardship for so long, my actions stirred deep emotions. Her tears and gratitude were a natural response.

It's almost as if my work here is already done.

"Ah, by the way, what was the name of the deity worshipped here?"

"Oh! I haven't even introduced myself yet. I'm so sorry."

Ayame placed her hand over her ample chest, bowing slightly.

"My name is Ayame Yagitsune, and I'm the priestess of Yagitsune Shrine."

"No, I just couldn't bear to see such a fine place left in disrepair."

"Oh, how can you be so kind…!"

Though it pricks my conscience a little, the words make a good impression. Well, I'll focus on supporting the shrine well in the future.

"Yagitsune-san… Hmm, since it's such a distinguished name, would it be alright if I called you Ayame-san instead?"

"Of course!"

"Ayame-san, if you have specific requests for the repairs, please inform the contractors."

"Let them know about the type of wood needed for the shrine's pillars, the paint color, and so on. They'll address everything promptly."

"Yes, I understand."

Ayame Yagitsune shared her repair requirements with the contractors, then returned to me, bowing several times in thanks.

While we discussed how to support the shrine in the future, raising Ayame's favorability, a voice called out:

"Mom! What's with all the people outside the shrine?!"

Ayame's daughter, Yagitsune Kagura, had returned from school.

She had dark purple hair and eyes like her mother's. Her ponytail was tied with a red rope-like hair tie, and her lovely figure was complemented by a confident posture.

It wasn't just her academy outfit; she looked as though she'd walked out of a character illustration from a previous life.

"Ah! Kagura! Come and say hello!"

"Say hello? No, what's going on with all these people outside? Contractors? We can't afford that! Is it a loan? Mom, you didn't… No way! No!"

Kagura's face was a mix of confusion and panic as she glanced between her mother and me.

"Mom, it's okay! I'll take care of everything!"

She must have misunderstood.

"Hey! All of you, leave right now! Even if we're poor, we don't need loans! If you don't leave immediately…"

Kagura pulled out a talisman with red lettering on a white background from her chest.

"I'll exorcise you!"

"…!"

Watching her, I was both surprised and impressed.

The "breastbone talisman" move was just as I remembered her character in Blaze Blood! In my previous life, it had even become a viral topic in the community.

'What is this breastbone move? This talisman stuff is legendary!'

Ah, seeing it in real life is incredible. My heart swelled with admiration.

"You dare threaten the young master…"

Rize, however, was on the verge of exploding. Her boiling point is exceptionally low when it comes to me, thanks to her loyalty.

"Rize, stand down."

"But Bocchan…"

"Stand down, okay?"

"…Alright."

I stopped Rize, who was ready to pull the dagger hidden under her maid's skirt.

"Kagura!"

Ayame's firm voice cut through the tension.

"What are you doing?! Put the talisman away now!"

"Mom!"

"Mr. Rouvelt isn't a moneylender! He was so impressed by our shrine that he decided to sponsor us! Apologize and put the talisman away this instant!"

"S-Sponsor?"

Kagura looked between her mother and me, confused.

It's times like this that call for a refreshing, reassuring smile.

"Hello, Yagitsune Kagura-san. I'm Rouvelt Eldra, the sponsor who decided to support your shrine."

"Eldra…? The world's greatest conglomerate…?"

Mother and daughter both froze in shock.

After Ayame explained the situation, Kagura immediately bowed her head.

"I'm sorry!"

Honestly, I was surprised by her quick apology. Kagura's character in Blaze Blood had a bold, slightly temperamental streak. I hadn't expected such humility.

Perhaps their financial struggles had humbled her more than I realized.

"No need to apologize. Your concern for your mother is touching."

I gave her a reassuring smile. "It's late now, so I'll be leaving. By the way, can you share your bank account details? I'd like to send the first donation."

"Yes, of course! Wait, let me grab some paper!"

Ayame rushed to another room.

Meanwhile, Kagura muttered softly, unaware that I could hear.

"Money… Actual money is coming in. No more worrying about electricity bills being cut off… No more living on bean sprouts for months… I can finally buy snacks, meat… I can buy offerings for Yorugitsune-sama…"

Ah, the hope of escaping poverty. It was bittersweet.

"Here's the account number!" Ayame returned with a piece of paper.

I sent a generous donation immediately.

"Please check."

Tring!

A notification sound echoed from Ayame's phone.

Both mother and daughter stared at the screen, their eyes widening as they realized how much I'd sent.

"Uh, uh…!"

"The zeros… One, two, three…!"

"Consider this your initial donation. The repairs are already covered. If you ever need more, don't hesitate to reach out."

"No, we could never…!"

"It's too much…!"

The two hugged each other, crying tears of joy.

"Mom! We can eat meat now! I want to eat meat!"

"Yes! We'll eat as much as we want! Thank you, my daughter…!"

It was a heartwarming scene.

"Let's go, Rize."

"Yes, Bocchan."

"Ah, Mr. Rouvelt! How can we ever repay you?"

"It's fine. Supporting good people is all I wish for. Treasure your time together and spend time between mother and daughter ."

After all when i turn 20 , you can repay

As Rize and I descended the shrine steps, I praised her.

"You did wonderfully today, Rize. You truly are the best maid."

"Thank you."

Despite her calm expression, the slight blush on her cheeks was adorable.

And so, I continued laying the groundwork for the future heroines, ensuring everything was in place for the life I envisioned.

This shrine was only the second step.
