Chapter 15: Chapter 15 : Training
In the corner of the yard, Van stood alone, calm.
Although Van appeared calm on the surface, the shadow beneath his feet swirled violently, as if something was trying to force its way out.
"Let's do it," Van muttered.
The shadow beneath Van's feet finally exploded and spat out several creatures.
A black horse about 2 meters tall appeared. What was different about it were its 8 legs. In addition, blue flames surrounding it made the black horse appear more majestic and graceful.
The black horse was [Sleipnir], the 7th [Shadow] of the [101 Shadows].
On the right of [Sleipnir], there was another horse of the same size. However, this one was white, with a horn on its forehead and a mane that shone with rainbow colors.
This white horse was the [Unicorn], the 9th [Shadow] of the [101 Shadows].
On the left of [Sleipnir], a woman floated in the air, standing at 1.7 meters tall. She looked like an albino, with white hair, eyelashes, and skin. Despite this, she radiated a negative aura that instilled fear, coldness, and reluctance to approach her.
The woman was [Banshee], the 10th [Shadow] of the [101 Shadows].
In an instant, Van's body grew weak, and his face turned pale from the exhaustion of excessive [Mana] use.
Although Van's condition was quite pitiful, he nodded in satisfaction when he saw the three [Shadows].
In the future, Van would be the second greatest [Mana] user in the world.
Who is the first?
Of course, it is that damn [Demon King Gehenna].
That creature was truly a walking disaster.
Even at the age of 5, [Mana] he possessed was equivalent to that of a teenage child.
Because of this, Van could summon the three [Shadows] by sacrificing a large portion of his [Mana].
Furthermore, these three new [Shadows] would be extremely useful in battle.
[Sleipnir], known for its speed comparable to the speed of sound, would definitely be a valuable asset.
[Banshee], with her scream being a mental-type attack.
In this world, mental-type attacks were very rare.
One scream from [Banshee] was enough to weaken the morale of weak troops. If a normal human heard her scream, they would immediately faint or even fall into a coma.
[Unicorn] would serve as a support on the battlefield with its unique healing abilities.
After a while, Van withdrew the three [Shadows].
The three [Shadows] immediately turned into shadows and merged back into Van's shadow.
Summoning them had drained most of Van's [Mana], and maintaining them also required [Mana].
Realizing this, Van became more aware of how crucial [Mana] was for him.
'It's really hard having a child's body.' Van thought as he looked at his hands, as thin as tree branches.
While Van was deep in thought, his instincts suddenly gave him a signal.
It wasn't a threat to his life, but rather a natural response to something.
Van turned around and saw Oliver running towards him with a branch in his hand.
What surprised Van was that Oliver was holding the branch like it was a sword.
'This kid really deserves to be called the MC. Even though Oliver is only one year old, his talent at this age is truly terrifying,' Van thought.
However, Oliver, being only one year old, was still very small. Even as he ran, his movements were as slow as a snail compared to Van.
Van then looked up and saw Olivia hiding behind a tree, her eyes anxiously watching Oliver.
No matter how well a child tries to hide, their head was still clearly visible behind the tree.
'What are these kids doing? They woke up so early. Not even a single knight has appeared in the yard yet,' Van thought as he looked at the mansion's front yard, still quiet.
The sun had just risen, and the sunlight helped illuminate the yard.
Van could only see Arthur, still training in the distance, while the knights hadn't shown any signs of coming out yet. Perhaps they were still in their dreams.
Van glanced back at Oliver, who was getting closer and was ready to swing the branch he thought was a sword.
As Oliver stood right in front of Van, he swung the branch towards Van's knee.
Van sighed wearily and took a step back.
*WUSH
Oliver's swing only cut through empty air.
Seeing his attack miss Van, Oliver furrowed his brows and moved forward to strike again.
*WUSH
*WUSH
*WUSH
Oliver kept attacking, but all his strikes were easily avoided by Van.
Van then crouched down and placed his index finger on Oliver's forehead. After that, Van exerted a little force with his finger.
Even though it was just a little force, Oliver, who was small and light, lost his balance and fell backward.
*THUD
Oliver sat on the ground, looking up at Van in disbelief. In the blink of an eye, Oliver got back up and charged towards Van again.
'This kid is really stubborn,' Van thought, and he unleashed his maximum speed.
In an instant, Van disappeared from where he had been standing.
When Oliver saw Van vanish, he suddenly stopped running and looked at where Van had stood.
A look of confusion was clear on Oliver's face.
"Hey."
Hearing the familiar voice, Oliver turned around. Without hesitation, Oliver ran towards Van to attack him again.
However, Van's figure disappeared once more right before Oliver.
As Oliver looked around to find Van, Van kept reappearing and disappearing in the blink of an eye.
Sometimes in front, sometimes beside, sometimes behind.
Eventually, Oliver lay on the ground, dizzy from trying to locate Van.
Van's figure appeared in front of Oliver, who was lying on the ground.
Van sighed wearily when he saw the child lying half-conscious from dizziness.
"You're such a pain," Van muttered.
Van then picked up Oliver and walked toward the mansion.
As Van walked past the tree where Olivia was hiding, he paused for a moment and looked at her.
"Why are you still standing there? Come with me," Van said, continuing his walk toward the mansion.
Olivia, hearing Van's words, finally stepped out from behind the tree and followed him from behind.
Just as Van was walking toward the mansion, the knights arrived in the yard.
When they saw Van carrying the unconscious Oliver, their expressions changed instantly.
"Look! Isn't that Young Master Oliver in Young Master Van's arms?"
"Why is he unconscious? Did they just have a fight?"
"Such a cruel older brother."
"He's so harsh to his younger sibling."
Hearing the knights gossiping, Van couldn't help but want to summon the [Shadows] to teach them a lesson.
They were gossiping without knowing the real story.
I, Van, give you credit for making such gossip.
If they were born on Earth, they could have been gossip admins or news reporters.
When Van entered the mansion, he immediately handed Oliver, still half-conscious, to the servants.
"Take good care of him. If anything happens, don't expect to see the sunrise tomorrow," Van said and walked away.
Upon hearing Van's words, the servants shuddered in fear and carefully carried Oliver.
Olivia, standing among the servants, only stared at Van's retreating back.
"Big brother," Olivia murmured.
