Chapter 16: Chapter 16 : 5 Years
Unnoticed, five years passed in the blink of an eye.
Van, Arthur, Oliver, and Olivia have undergone drastic changes compared to five years ago.
All four of them have grown both physically and spiritually.
Physically, Van and Arthur have grown and developed very quickly.
Both are 10 years old, with Van standing at 142 cm tall and weighing 40 kg, while Arthur is 135 cm tall and weighs 35 kg.
Meanwhile, Oliver and Olivia are both 5 years old and stand 110 cm tall, but there is a difference in their weight: Oliver weighs 26 kg, while Olivia weighs 22 kg.
The physical size of children their age proves that they live a decent life.
In addition to their physical growth, they have also shown their remarkable talents.
Van has become more skilled in controlling [101 Shadows], and the amount of [Mana] he possesses has increased dramatically over the past five years.
Arthur's swordsmanship talent has developed rapidly. In the past, Arthur struggled to chop wood, but now he can easily cut through iron.
Oliver and Olivia have also begun training for the past year, showing their talents in both swordsmanship and magic.
Apart from the four of them, there are other children equally talented as they are, from both noble and commoner backgrounds.
As for their spiritual growth, or rather their attitude:
"Hey, have you heard? Arthur just sliced off the eye of a servant who was looking at Master Van with disdain."
In the back garden of the Black family mansion, two servants were tending to the garden while gossiping.
Their faces clearly showed fear, worry, and horror.
"His psychopathic tendencies have been uncontrollable over the past five years. Only Master Van can tame that mad dog."
"You're right. I wonder why Master Van keeps that mad dog as one of his subordinates."
"I don't know. Maybe they're both psychopaths."
Unbeknownst to them, a dark figure suddenly appeared behind them.
"Hello, beautiful older sisters. What are you talking about?"
Hearing the familiar voice, the two servants' faces immediately changed in an instant.
They both turned around stiffly and saw a small child standing behind them.
Upon seeing the smile on the child's face, both servants felt chills run down their spines. The wide smile gave off a cold impression, as if the angel of death was smiling at them.
The child was only as tall as their chest, but they should not underestimate a child in the Black family mansion.
All the children in the Black family mansion possessed frighteningly monstrous talents. Their futures were secured as pillars of the Avalon Kingdom.
In front of them stood the most terrifying child in the Black family mansion.
The child known as the crazy swordsman, mad dog, or faithful dog of Master Black.
Arthur Black.
"There's nothing, Arthur. We were just discussing what to make for lunch."
"I see." said Arthur, drawing his sword from its scabbard.
Seeing Arthur draw his sword, the servants' eyes immediately widened in fear.
It wasn't just a rumor that Arthur would only unsheathe his sword in the name of Van Black.
If Arthur drew his sword without Van being around, it meant something was threatening Van Black.
"I heard you were slandering Master. With the sword Master gave me, I will cleanse Master's reputation," said Arthur, raising his sword with a wide smile on his face.
Upon hearing what Arthur said, the two servants became fearful and turned around.
However, they suddenly felt their bodies unable to move as they wished.
Arthur moved so quickly that he appeared right in front of them in an instant.
Seeing Arthur's wide smile and the sword swinging toward their necks, the two servants could only close their eyes and resign themselves to death.
Just as the tip of the sword was only a few centimeters from one servant's neck, the swing suddenly stopped.
"Arthur."
Hearing the deep, calm, and cold voice they recognized, the two servants opened their eyes.
They saw a small child walking toward them.
A small child with black hair and red eyes. A handsome face with a blank expression as if looking down on the world. His graceful bearing revealed his noble status.
One of the future heirs of the Black family, renowned for being perfect in wealth, strength, and charisma.
Known as the [Masterpiece of Duke Black].
Every time his name was heard, people unconsciously felt inferior and a little afraid.
Van Black.
Relief, surprise, and fear crossed the faces of the two servants.
They were relieved because they wouldn't die at Arthur's hands just yet.
They were surprised because Master Van had appeared in a place he disliked.
They were afraid because the person they had just spoken ill of had now appeared before them.
"What's wrong, Master?" Arthur asked, sheathing his sword again.
"Don't stain Mother's beloved garden with blood." Van said calmly.
Without wasting any time, Van turned around and left them behind.
Upon hearing Van's words, Arthur nodded lightly and followed Van from behind.
Watching the two young harbingers of death leave, the two servants immediately knelt on the ground as if all their energy had been drained.
Their servant uniforms were soaked with sweat, and their faces were still very pale.
Walking alongside Van and Arthur, the two made their way to the library. This morning was Van's scheduled time for study.
One thing that sets the nobility apart from commoners is access to education.
For commoners, access to education is extremely difficult. They may only learn the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Perhaps the children of the servants and knights working for a noble family have slightly more advanced education.
In contrast to commoners, the children of nobility are taught from a young age to mature their minds.
However, there are some special cases among the nobility.
For example, a noble child who is foolish, lazy, and naive, but fortunate. Such a special case was currently in front of Van.
*WHOOSH
A black shadow flashed before Van, and a wooden sword swung toward his neck.
"Got you, big brother!" Oliver said with a wide grin.
Oliver, now 6 years old, had grown into an extremely hyperactive child.
His appearance, with golden hair and blue eyes, was in stark contrast to Van's.
While Van gave off an aura of a cold and wicked guardian, Oliver's appearance radiated the aura of a good-natured noble.
Although Oliver's noble aura was strong, his stupidity and naivety were hard to hide.
Van remained still, not reacting as if he didn't take the attack seriously.
The space around Van suddenly stirred, and two golden portals, the size of basketballs, appeared.
Seeing the golden portals appear around Van, Arthur muttered quietly, "It seems Master has started to master that skill."
