Avatar: Tower Master

Chapter 32: A royal arrival

I saw a few comments on how level 30 is strong enough to make it to the fiftieth floor. This is a fair assessment. I designed the story and system around me not having to deal with very large stat numbers. There are also other factors to consider, such as a person's use of abilities and their class. I also tried to group floors kind of like I mentioned how skill levels 8 and 9 are very far apart compared to 2 and 3. The higher floor you go up the more this disparity happens. I did mention that there were a lot of losses with teams going up to the fiftieth floor by this I meant 20-30 person teams taking weeks to get up there and losing 30-40% of people. I apologize for the confusion and thank you are pointing out the inaccuracy, it always helps when I know I made something unclear.

Appearing at the docks we were quick to notice the large crowd both ahead of us and surrounding us. The loud noise hit us making us both flinch at the sudden influx of noise compared to the previous office.

Taking a step forward Goshen yelled "I am Guild Master Goshen, move out of the way and tell me what is going on!!"

At his yell the entire crowd quilted down looking back at us. Seeing us both, the people around us quickly made a very wide berth. I think a few people even fell into the water.

"What is going on here!!" Goshen yelled again demanding an answer.

Nobody moved and Seeing as no one was going to tell us I started making a beeline for the front of the crowd with Goshen in tow. As we walked through I noticed something a bit peculiar, most of the people here were Fire Nation citizens.

Looking around I noticed something a bit strange. "Did you notice everyone is a fire nation citizen?" I commented to Goshen.

"I did not but that makes me even more worried it should still be another day or two till the Royal family get here" He replied.

Making it to the front we finally saw what was causing all the ruckus. A small warship had arrived at the docks with fire nation soldiers busy tieing the ship to the dock.

Approaching one of the soldiers, Goshen sternly asked "What is going on here why is everyone crowding your ship".

"I'm sorry sir but we need you to move," The soldier replied.

Showing a rare bit of aggression Goshen grabbed the shoulder pad of the soldier and brought him up to his face "What. Is. Going. On" he said accenting each word.

Startled the soldier answered quickly "We just have order to dock here"

"Orders from who?" I interjected.

"From Prince Zuko," he replied.

That stopped me dead, I had not been expecting him to come. I figured Zhao, Ozai and others would actively keep him in the dark, thinking him unworthy of any increase in strength.

"What is taking so long!"

Hearing a childish voice screaming I looked up towards the deck of the ship. Standing there yelling at another soldier was a young boy with a ponytail and terrible burn scar on his left side wearing fire nation armor.

"Wow, he really looks like the TV show" I said to myself and he really did.

"Just a bit longer Prince Zuko" I heard a familiar voice say.

Was that Iroh? Just then the gangplank descended from the ship hitting the wood beams with a thunk. Pushing the soldier away Goshen made his way towards the gangplank.

"See, patience Prince Zuko" I heard the familiar voice say again.

As Goshen approached the gangplank two people started coming down it. One was Zuko with an angry look on his face. The other was a fat old man with a bald head and a large beard with the upper lip part missing.

"Why are you causing problems on my dock?" Goshen demanded, stepping in front of them.

"I suggest you move," Zuko said angrily, stepping into Goshesns face.

'I forgot what a dick this kid could be' I thought to myself.

Iroh, perhaps sensing the danger from Goshen was quick to intercede and pull Zuko back "I apologise for my nephew's rudeness he is just eager to see the tower we have heard about"

"That does not give him the right to cause such a large commotion"

"Do you know who I am? I am Prince Zuko of the fire nation heir to the throne" Zuko yelled out.

"I don't care," Goshen replied keeping an annoyed look on his face.

Before Zuko could respond Iroh once again interjected "Again we apologize, perhaps we could have a more civilized discussion elsewhere"

Just then Goshen's assistant made it through the crowd with four climbers.

"Gauildmaster, do you need any assistance?" He asked.

"Yes, please escort these two to my office"

"We are no…" Zuko started but was interrupted by his uncle.

"We would love to discuss this in your office, Guildmaster," Iroh said, catching on to Goshen's title.

Stepping forward I said "If we leave the docks the crowd will disperse solving both of our issues"

"Fine," Zuko said frustrated.

"Excellent, follow me please" Goshen's assistant asked.

Following behind them I watched as we left the dock and Zuko finally got a good view of both the tower as well as the town. His eyes widened at the size and scale of the tower. I wonder what he has heard about this place.

Walking through the gates of the town Zuko and Iroh were led to the guild building. Upon entering everyone went silent. Some from seeing the prince. Some from seeing me and some from seeing the Guildmaster.

"It's just upstairs," Goshen said, making his way to the stairs.

Continuing to follow behind them we went to the third floor and entered the large Guildmasters office. Gesturing for them to sit on a couch Goshen took the one opposite to them while I sat in a nearby chair.

"Now, I want to know why you are here. A royal such as yourself is not common here in Gilded Spire" Goshen started off.

"I heard this place offers power to whoever comes here," Zuko said hurriedly.

Speaking up I said "That is true but you must work for it"

"I don't care what it costs, I need power," Zuko stated.

"Why do you need power?" Goshen asked.

"So, I can capture the avatar"

Goshen just got a confused look on his face and I just started laughing my head off. I did not think he actually went around saying that outside of the Tv show.

"You dare laugh at me," Zuko yelled standing up.

"Kid I think you should show some respect" Goshen immediately replied standing up as well.

Collecting myself I finally answered "Kid you are no match for any sort of avatar, the avatar is the master of all elements and you haven't even mastered your own element yet"

Before Zuko could respond Iroh pulled him back into the couch "Which is why Prince Zuko has insisted to enter the tower and see if what we have heard is true"

"And what have you heard?" I questioned.

"Well from passing traders we have heard that this place holds magical items and from soldiers we have heard that the tower can give someone the power to challenge the spirits themselves" Iroh answered.

Standing up and approaching the couches I replied saying "Both are true, my Tower is a place of infinite opportunities for everyone, weather your a farmer or a soldier"

"Your Tower?" Zuko and Iroh said at the same time.

"I apologise for forgetting to introduce myself. My name is Callum and I am the master of the tower. Everything within it is mine and the opportunities I provide are through my generosity"

"We would be delighted if you would allow us to use your tower," Iroh asked.

"I have taken an interest in you Zuko, your an entitled brat but I do see greatness in you" Zuko seemed angry at the first part but called after the second "I think that you will make a great climber".

Iroh hit Zuko in the side and Zuko said "Thanks" rather rudely though.

"I will tell you what, The tower itself is changing the balance of this world and the avatar's job is to maintain it. If you stay here eventually the avatar will show up as well"

Eyes widened as Zuko stood back up saying "Then I will stay here till he comes".

"I expected as much" I said then turned to Goshen "I hate to put this on you but can you please take care of these two for now. Show them someplace to stay"

"Thank you, Tower Master Callum," Iroh said, bowing his head a bit.

Bowing my head back I said, "Tomorrow morning meet me at the tower entrance, and I will show you inside" With that I teleported myself back to my own home on the fiftieth floor.

With a smile I said to myself "I wonder how Zuko will do, he was never shown as particularly talented but he was a part of the main cast so I guess we will see. Honestly, I thought I would meet Ozai first though that's another thing to think about, he should be here in a few days?". 'How will he react to his exiled son being here?' I thought to myself.
