Avatar: Tower Master

Chapter 40: Dinner

Dressed in my fire nation garb I bought from the system I made my way over to the Fire Lords palace. My clothing looked somewhat similar to Sokkas from book three but with long sleeves and much nicer cloth. It was dusk now and what light was left was hidden behind the tower making a very large and long shadow stretch across the town. In a feat of ingenuity the crafters have made light posts that run off of mana crystals, due to the low mana cost they have yet to run out of power. Unfortunately for me my looks kind of clashed with the clothing, especially my green eyes and platinum hair.

Soon enough I arrived in front of the Fire Lord's manor, I could have teleported but sometimes a walk just feels nice.

"Welcome sir" A servant at the front of the manor greeted bowing "I will guide you to the dining room"

"Of course," I said, gesturing forward.

Following the servant into the manor I was led down a few hallways until we stopped at a red door.

"This is the dining room sir"

"Thank you," I replied.

Opening the door I stepped into the large room with a long table. Sitting at the head was Fire Lord Ozai, though I didn't see Azula at all.

Standing up Ozai greeted "Tower Master Callum, welcome. Please sit" he said, gesturing to his right.

Taking a seat identical to his I commented "Azual running some errands for you?"

"She will be along shortly, same with the food it is being kept warm in the kitchens"

"You wanted to discuss the placement of the gate?" I asked.

"Yes, I wanted to confirm the location of its placement"

"Go on"

Pulling out a map of the fire nation capital he pointed to a long stretch of empty road starting from the palace entrance to the edge of the city "I wish to put it sideways along this path so that it is easy to transport items from the capital into the tower and vice versa as well"

Actually, surprised at his smart decision I stated "That is actually a pretty good idea, but there is something you should know about the gates"

Looking inquisitive he asked "and what is that?"

"A person entering the gate will appear at the first floor entrance but when going back through will always appear back to the gate they came through" I explained.

"That is something good to know, Just the people?"

"Yes just the people all items will go with the person handling them"

"Good, can I ask why? You are obviously a man of great power; like myself; could you not just separate the entrance and gates"

"I could but it's mostly to prevent people from trying to invade other cities through the gate," I said pointedly. "I could stop the invasions anyway but I do not want to deal with that at any time".

"It seems we are similar then, preventing future difficulties is a great strategy"

"When I do place a gate in your city it will need a guild building as well as requisite staff"

"The Guild Master informed me of that, we are already having one built and I already have staff chosen"

Looking at him straight in the eye I said "You are welcome to manage that branch however you see fit but it will be overseen by the one here as it is the main guild branch"

"That is what I assumed"

Opening one of the doors a servant entered.

"What is it?" Ozai asked a bit harshley.

"Princess Azula has returned sir"

"What are you waiting for then let her in and inform the servants to bring out dinner" Ozai commanded.

"Of course sir" the servant said, disappearing back behind the door.

A second later servants came through multiple doors carrying a variety of dishes. Placing one dish after another on the table I noticed that some had a large difference between them.

"I had my chief's prepare dishes from all nations as I did not know what you preferred," Ozai said with a smirk.

"Well I am excited to try your nation's food" I complemented.

Before I could start eating the main door to the dining room opened causing both me and Ozai to look to see who had entered.

"Hello father," Azula greeted.

I was speechless, and completely confused. Azula had entered but she didn't look like Azula, instead of her normal armor she wore a frilly red dress with gold lining and the fire nation symbol stitched onto the chest. Honestly I was a little weirded out, I know for a fact that she would not be wearing this if she didn't have to.

Azula walked over to the chair across from me "Hello Tower Master Callum" she cutsied.

Okay now I am even more weirded out "Hello Princess Azula" I said with a fake smile.

"It is good that you are here, we were just about to eat," Ozai said with a smile.

Azula sat down at her spot and we began to eat. The food was great, most likely cooked by his top chefs. I was enjoying the food quite a bit, so I might have to come more often.

"What exactly is a Tower Master?" Azula asked.

Swallowing what was in my mouth I responded saying "the title is quite literal, I can control everything and anything about the tower. I can make monsters stronger or destroy them entirely never to be seen again"

"Is there a reason for establishing your tower here?" she asked.

"Hmm, didn't think you were one for small talk" I replied.

"I am just interested in how the tower works and why but I guess to someone like you that is small talk" she replied

"I chose a spot that had easy access for most nations but wasn't directly next to a capital or city of any of them" I answered her earlier question.

Speaking up Ozai asked "Your previously mentioned that you could take away someone's power or bending, but my sources say you can also grant it"

Smirking, I brought my hand up flat and pushed it out a bit, making a slight breeze. "Yes I can grant anybody any type of bending. I could even make an avatar if I wish" I replied. It was only partially true though I could give people all four elements but every other one besides the first would be noticeably weaker, and I can't grant somebody an avatar spirit but I could give abilities to put them in a similar state. Although without the reincarnation.

"And you have yet to do this?" Ozai asked.

"I have yet to find someone I want to grant that power to," I replied.

"Recently I have seen what people call magic, is it stronger than bending?" Ozai asked.

"In a way, magic can give someone wondrous abilities but, in the tower, like with everything, it is how you use it that really defines a power. If I had to say which was stronger I would just say the magic is more versatile not stronger".

"I have noticed that more and more people have been coming to the tower," Azula observed.

"True the power it provides can entice everyone"

Putting down my chopsticks I complemented "That was a delicious dinner"

"I am pleased, why don't we retire to a different room for dessert," Ozai suggested.

"Great idea father," Azula said.

Standing up, a servant led all three of us to another room connected to the dining room. This one looked more like a sitting room with a couch, a few chairs and a coffee table. I sat down on the couch expecting them to sit in the chairs when Ozai sat down in one but Azula ended up sitting on the other side of the couch.

'She is definitely acting strange, at least for her' I thought.

Soon some servants served us some sort of chocolate cake with some nuts in it. Fortunately nobody said anything while we were eating.

"Did you enjoy the desert?" Azula asked as I put down my plate.

Turning to her I answered "Yes it was delicious".

Smiling a bit Azula said "That is great perhaps you could come back sometime in the future"

"Oookay" I said.

"Yes you are welcome here anytime, perhaps once the gate is made you will visit the capitol" Ozai agreed "Azula could show you around"

"Maybe one day" I replied "This was a delicious dinner so I would like to thank you".

"There is no need," Azula interrupted.

"Please allow me" I said holding up a hand "Soon there will be a tournament between the climbers, separated by level of course. This competition will have some truly great rewards for those who win".

"What would these rewards be?' Azula asked, obviously interested.

"I will not disclose that right now but it will be announced in a few days" I replied "I intended the announcement to be a surprise, but again I would like to thank you for the dinner"

"Well, thank you for the notice" Ozai said "Azula why don't you show him out"

Standing up I said "Thank you, put ill simply teleport out"

Standing up as well Ozai said "Remember you are welcome back anytime"

Azula stood next curtsying again "It was great to speak with you"

Giving her a hesitant smile I teleported myself out of there and back to my own bed on the fiftieth floor.

"Man that was weird" I said to myself as I flopped onto the bed "and mentally draining".

Hello readers, I just want to address my previous statement about the legend of Zelda story. I would not be working on it at the same time as this story, it would most definitely be after this story is finished or I at least have all the chapter rough drafts done. My personal schedule of work, family, and other things do not permit me the time to work on more than one story at a time. But this story does have a planned end, I think having a planned end is important in any story otherwise it ends up dragging on too long. I may write past the planned end, but it would become secondary to a new story.
