As Aaron swung his sword, he could already tell that Unohana Retsu was prepared to take the attack head-on.

Noticing the wild gleam in her eyes, he frowned slightly. Without hesitation, he executed a defensive maneuver.

"Full Cover: Reprimand!"

With a calm incantation, a suit of blue Reishi armor enveloped Aaron's entire body.

Unohana's wooden sword struck the armor with unrelenting force.

Crack!

A sharp sound echoed as a large fissure appeared on the surface of the Reishi armor.

Unohana's eyes briefly flashed with surprise. She hadn't expected Aaron to have another card up his sleeve. But her astonishment quickly gave way to an intense, almost fanatical determination.

Aaron, undeterred, channeled wind-elemental Reishi into his right arm. His sword's movements quickened, shifting unpredictably between attack angles.

What had begun as an offensive strike transitioned seamlessly into a counterattack.

"Full Cover: Bind!"

Unohana growled softly, glaring at the young man who was now mere inches from her.

Her wooden sword, once moving with ferocious momentum, now felt immobile—absorbed into the Reishi armor like a stone sinking into water.

Frustrated, she poured her overwhelming Reiatsu into the weapon, attempting to regain control. But before she could act further, Aaron's wooden sword slashed at hers with precision and finesse.

Snap!

With a clean, resonant crack, Unohana's wooden sword splintered into two.

The moment she saw the shattered remains of her weapon, a sense of déjà vu washed over her. She knew—she had lost again.

"Stop! The duel is over!"

The administrator, who had been silently observing the intense battle, stepped forward and called out firmly.

These two students were undoubtedly rare prodigies, and he couldn't risk either of them suffering injuries due to his negligence. If anything happened, the consequences would fall squarely on him.

"Who won?"

"Didn't you see? Unohana's wooden sword is broken!"

"It's a tie! At best, it's a tie!"

"Even if it's a tie, that guy's performance is incredible!"

"Who was it that said the ordinary-class students are weaklings?"

The murmurs among the crowd grew louder, with spectators debating fiercely.

Amid the commotion, the teachers in attendance silently fixated on the broken wooden sword.

While the students might not grasp the significance, the teachers understood all too well.

The wooden swords distributed by the academy were crafted from special materials, durable enough to withstand strikes from lieutenant-level Reiatsu. Yet this seemingly unassuming boy had shattered one.

Even if luck had played a role, Aaron's calm demeanor, mastery of combat, and his innovative Kidō techniques were undeniably remarkable.

If Reiatsu-rich Unohana was a genius, then what did that make Aaron? Calling him a prodigy might not be enough—perhaps "monster" was more fitting.

In the midst of the crowd, a figure quietly slipped away, hurrying toward the direction of the Gotei 13 headquarters.

"Using those sneaky tactics every time—aren't you even a little ashamed?" Unohana glared at Aaron, her frustration evident.

Aaron shrugged, smiling nonchalantly. "It was just luck."

"Hmph! One day, I'll defeat you with my own hands!" she snapped before storming off the training ground.

Later that day, at the First Division headquarters, Captain-Commander Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni paused from his work to listen to the report.

"You're saying he broke the wooden sword?" Yamamoto asked without looking up.

"Yes, Captain-Commander! I saw it with my own eyes!"

"Very well. You may go."

Jiro Kojima, the reporting officer, bowed deeply and exited the room.

Standing nearby, Lieutenant Chōjirō Sasakibe hesitated before speaking.

"Captain-Commander, what are your thoughts on this young man?"

Yamamoto raised his head slightly, his expression softening ever so faintly.

"As I've said before, he hasn't disappointed me."

Even the stoic Captain-Commander allowed himself a rare smile.

Half a year later, in a desolate region near Rukongai, a squad of Shinigami advanced cautiously. Each held their Zanpakutō ready, their faces tense with focus.

A guttural roar shattered the silence, and from the shadows emerged dozens of Hollows. Leading them was a massive Menos Grande.

"Be on guard! It's a Gillian!" the squad leader barked.

"Yes, sir!"

The Shinigami readied their weapons, responding in unison. Among them stood Aaron, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"Take down the smaller Hollows first, then focus all efforts on the Gillian!"

As the battle commenced, the team fought valiantly, reducing the smaller Hollows to dissipating fragments of Reishi.

But when the dust settled, the towering Gillian remained, its presence radiating an ominous pressure.

By now, all but Aaron were battered and wounded.

The squad leader, assessing the situation grimly, issued his next command. "Fall back! Head to Seireitei for reinforcements!"

But Aaron, staring at the Gillian, didn't budge. Instead, his eyes sparkled with something akin to fascination.

Meanwhile, back in Yamamoto's office, Chōjirō Sasakibe reported nervously, "Captain-Commander, Aaron has skipped classes again. I suspect he's—"

Yamamoto interrupted with a faint chuckle. "Let him be. Though he's a habitual troublemaker, I'm quite curious to see what surprises he'll bring us this time."
